I mean it could've ended on a cliffhanger and essentially leave people hanging for a decade or more.
EA SUCKS but so does Bioware Thread
-
-
-
Given Bioware's recent record, I'm skeptical. But I really hope it turns out well.
-
I definitely wouldn't mind a DA:O remaster.
-
There will be an EA Play event on thursday and with the ongoing rumors about the Mass Effect Trilogy remaster i'm keeping my fingers crossed for an official announcement.
-
ME remaster I don't care about. ME3 multiplayer remaster with dedicated servers? I'm down.
-
Rather have a remake personally ME1 was not particularly strong in certain areas.

If they do a remaster they're just going to update the graphics. They're probably not going to put in the effort of actually fixing anything when you're dealing with three full massive RPGs worth of content.
-
Not Dragon Age or Mass Effect, but Mike Laidlaw is a consultant on a new game called The Waylanders that is very Baldur's Gate and DA-inspired:

Would they really need to fix anything other than the graphics anyway?

As noted, ME1 has… not aged as well as you might think. The story stuff is all fine but the gameplay.... not so much. Especially the vehicle stuff.
There's also some cohesion stuff with some choice things carrying all the way through the series that it would be nice if they built on a little if they had the time. But thats crating all new content, not just visually updating it or changing some menus, so...
WOuld also be nice if the overall controls and powers were a little more consistent, like the gameplay changes they'd perfected by 3 also carried back to 1. But thats a lot of balance work.
-
If anything the Mako is the best-aged portion of ME1 because it's the only fun part.
-
After ME:A, I prefer a remaster over a remake, really. Not confident they wouldn't ruin the game if they decided to alter it.
-
Honestly, for all that ME:A sucked, the actual gameplay was good, the new movement options opened it up a lot, and being able to change your personal powerset as you went instead of being locked into a tree you chose at the start were nice things. The combat itself and the level design didn't really make great use of these things, since you just fought the same handful of enemies endlessly, but it made the character feel better at least.
Shame the entire squad sucked except the token Krogan. I remember literally none of their names. Meanwhile I can still name Garrus, Grunt, Wrex, Tali, Mordin, Legion, Jack etc. off the top of my head and I haven't played 2 or 3 since they came out, so it's been like 8 years… and I still remember a lot of the big story beats and moments... while I played Andromeda just three years ago and remember almost nothing about it.

So that means they won’t fix things like the ME1’s janky frame rate issues welp.
-

Things like frame rate would probably go hand in hand with a graphic overhaul… and just being on a more powerful system in general. The goddamn ship floors taking minutes to load would probably be alleviated some too.
But things like reducing grind or rebalancing gameplay or creating wholly new things are a bit more effort.
-

You had a problem with that I thought everybody complained about the load times on the Citadel:ninja:
@Cyan:

Yeah it was amazing having Thresher Maw’s and Auto Turrets ripping through the Mako’s health and then sitting behind a rock as your Shield slowly regenerated.
-

The Citadel I generally spent actual time on after the loading, it only really grated when you had a quest inside it that required you travel between multiple spots. And it at least felt big and had lots of people and things in it, so it having loading was understandable.
The ship on the other hand, just visiting your quarters meant a multi-minute load both ways… for a single room. My fish were 100% doomed if I didn't have automated feeding.
And some of your companions that hanged out int he bottom floor I ended up just never talking to. Sorry Jacob and Zaeed.
-

I always talked to Zaeed, because he was a five second walk from talking to Grunt which was always worthwhile.
Jacob I actively would route myself to never enter his room.
-
Let us just remember the only african-american romance option then proceeds to cheat on you. Classy, Bioware.
-

Well if it makes you feel better make and female Shepard could do the same.
-

Its probably telling that I liked Zaeed so little that I didn't remember where he was ever located… because I talked to Grunt all the time.
I remembered somebody was on a seperate floor entirely and I never talked to them for that reason.
-
It's just crumbs, but sure, I'll take some DA4 concept art, thank you.

Tony Hawk is coming back so of course that means that EA is quickly digging up Skate's corpse.
-
Still very early in production, mostly just concept art and vague promises, not even a release year.
- Story around "not having power"
- Solas plays a big part in the story
- Motion matching technology to bring characters to life with realistic animation
- Choice / decision making
Not really impressed by any of that.
-
Lol, they're so far behind, they didn't even have a vertical slice to show off.
-
The only assetts in that trailer that look like they have any real work done are the ones lifted straight from Inquisition, the frozen mountains and the Solas head shot.
Its been SIX YEARS and they're still on concept art? Don't get me wrong that concept art looks gorgeous, but everything in that trailer could have been made in the last month by a team of 5.
Also, after Mass Effect 4 and Anthem and everyone compenent ont he team leaving the studio, I just can't get excited when its not going to be out until well into the next console generation… when we should have had part 4 three years ago., last year at the latest.
-
Considering how unpolished Andromeda and Anthem are it’s probably a good thing it didn’t come out sooner.
Not that being in the oven any longer will guarantee this won’t be a disaster.
-
The main team leaving has me worried, but I still love Dragon Age so I'll take any news I can get. And that art does look gorgeous. And of course Solas is going to play a big part, remember how it ended?
-

I recall the title being called "The Dread Wolf Rises", so imagine he's the main villain.
-

That's not going to be the final title, that's just what they're using as placeholder to try and keep fans baited for the near decade it'll take.

So, what will come out sooner? Dragon Age 4 or Elder Scrolls 6? :P
-
Only time will tell.
But I'd rather they take their time on a good game than churn out a piece of shit.
-
I wouldn't be bothered so much if they didn't end on such a cliffhanger.
Also, they had ALL the assets from 3, surely if they'd actually had their team work on it 4 could have been made relatively easier? Or at least a sidegame? Treat it like DA2 did with one big map, but throw a label on it indicating its a sidestory and not part 4, so that its okay if the scale isn't quite as big.
But now they've waited an entire console generation, (Inquisition came out on PS3!) so they have to make everything from scratch to meet the new hardware and that seems like a waste to me.
-
I'm pretty sure Andromeda & especially Anthem diverted resources away from DA4 for a while. I do feel I would have rather had 2-3 DA2 scope-sized games rather than a giant game that takes 5-10 years though. Not really comparable, but it's nice to have a yearly/bi-yearly Atelier or Trails game vs having to wait half a decade with how large games are getting these days.
-
I wouldn't mind up to 5 years if the game shows the work put in. It's been almost 6 years since DA4, so . . . yeah.
-
Gee who didn’t see this coming.
-
I can't wait to boot up ME1 again, remember that it's ME1, quit, and then just download a completed save file to import into ME2.

Finally!! Unfortunately no ME3 Multiplayer …

Well they better make up for Andromeda.
After they dropped the ball on Anthem on top of Andromeda they better.

I can't wait for the Jason Schreier article that details how Mass Effect 5 went to shit.

Mass Effect 5? That's nice. I'll just keep playing Warframe.
Bioware just really really lost me. I'm the guy that actually liked DA2 and ME3 and they still managed to lose me by screwing me on the DLC on DA:I and then Andromeda being hot garbage and it'll have been a solid decade since DA3 before DA4 comes out. Everyone that was involved with the good ol days has left so I won't get excited till oe of the games coems out with positive reviews.
-
Strictly speaking Bioware should be dead right now thanks to the 1-2 punch of Andromeda and Anthem.
Is The Old Republic really enough to justify keeping them around for EA?

I liked ME3 too and unless they ever make a Jade Empire 2 after all these I have not much from them in the future to look forward too even if 5 avoids Andromeda's pitfalls.

The Old what? I've not heard of this though I could've sworn there was supposed to be a Stars Wars game that was supposed to be the next big MMO sometime ago.

Knights of the Old Republic. The Star Wars game that really put Bioware on the map back in 2003. (Baldur's Gate was a hit, and fans of that liked neverwinter Nights, but it was KOTORthat let them do Mass Effect and Dragon Age.)
It was a great game though it hasn't aged super well gameplay wise, the character and story stuff is still solid.

I actually know about KOTOR which I almost bought on sale last week, I was being sarcastic about The Old Republic.
