I've been marathoning Discworld books for the past 2 years, and I found absolutely nothing indicating that Sir Pratchett had any animosity or lack of acceptance towards LGBTQ people. If anything, he time and time again went out of his way of demonstrating that there's a lot more to people than what appearances and stereotypes would make one believe. Not just in the way of sexuality or gender, but also concerning race and nationality.

It said "campus preacher", so I'm assuming they meant the preacher assigned to the church on campus. Most colleges of a decent size will have a church or even more than that for a place for their more religious students. On my campus we had both a Catholic church (well, the city's but it was right next to us) and a Protestant church. We also had available a rabbi, an imam, and a Buddhist monk to cover all the major bases. We also had a Pagan society but I don't think the college provided us with a witch, sadly.
