So what exactly was the controversy with this last volume?
In the author's note for the Volume, Oda made a joke about a Japanese Sergeant who continued to act as if World War 2 was still ongoing after it ended.

It's been added to digital versions of the volume as well. Curious to see the translation for the new comment.
While I'm glad they've added something there to keep this volume from being the only one that goes down in history without a comment, but I still think this shouldn't have happened in the first place. Just a wee bit spineless of Shueisha to bend over backwards to the kind of nationalists who think Japan's WWII soldiers are too respectable to ever be made fun of.
Curious to see the translation of the new comment, I suppose.
"I've never said, 'To ho ho…' in my life. Next time, let's all use it to express our disappointment together!! TO HO HO!! Volume 89 starts now!!"
(To ho ho is an expression used in manga to express disappointment; think of Homer Simpson's "D'oh!" as more of a sigh.)
Thanks for the translation. Wonder if it'll be added to reprints of the English volume as well.
