Yeah, if I were to give each one colors individually based on their designs, I´d give them color schemes based on their food names / abilities. I´d probably leave Perospero and Praline like that, though

l I think if oda wanted everyone to be pink, he would have made a point of it.

Its a fringe theory but cool in odea I guess.

I bet galette will have yellow hair cause of butter and mont d or might have that almost white color.
But unless there really important characters we might not get to see what they are. Or wait for the colored versions but I dont know if those are that official either

While I agree that Oda probably would have made a note to the anime crew about the Charlottes having pink hair, keep in mind that Big Mom's Fishman Island reveal has the upper had of her head completely shrouded. Which could have been for pure mystique and/or because of still tinkering with Big Mom's design (I doubt that he came up with the talking pirate hat until Dressrosa since it never shows up in any of the previous silhouettes, and he changed Kanjuro's silhouette during Dressrosa itself). Not that the pink hair is all that more likely though.

I love the art you've been making though, Skadi! The different shades of pink for the Charlotte Family is pretty sweet, and Vito is definitely my favorite for the creative liberty of having his hair and tattoos change color like a chameleon (and I already adored his design to begin with lol).

I always remember when the anime assumed Marco was some random nameless grunt on his debut, and gave him a super dull and ugly color scheme. And only when they realized (or Oda´s team told them) he was actually relevant, he got a better, way more distinctive color scheme.

To be fair, his epithet is literally "Red Hair". I don't think I would care much for notable characters sporting "black beards" besides Teach lol.

I just realized that Marco's tattoo during his first appearance was a different color from the one in Marineford. XD

I agree about his colors not popping out enough for his inevitable relevancy though. And speaking of the Whitebeard Pirates' introduction, I kind of prefer Jozu's colors there (mainly the black and red shoulder pads).

And wasn't Rayleigh's hair first shown as black in Buggy's flashback, but then turned to blonde in another flashback. Were they different in the manga like that, or is it just Toei being Toei again?

Oh yeah I forgot to add this small bit to my paragraph: At first I thought his ephitet was the marine being lazy, but then it dawned on me that he´s (Kid aside) the only character ever Oda colored with red hair. Must be the rarest color ever in the OPverse.

To be honest, I´m not a fan of the "spot the main character trope"

But honestly sometimes the changes on palettes when the characters gain plot relevance are beyond welcome. However I also welcome "plain looking" protagonists like Luffy, or other black/brown haired characters

Also I do recall Oda specifically telling Toei not to fuck up Rayleigh´s flashback design. Seems like they did it anyway lol

That just makes Kid having red hair, one arm left, and wanting to target Shanks even more weird... And I'm not gonna lie, I wouldn't exactly mind seeing a "Redbeard" just to see what he would look like in comparison to the other colored beards.

I'm open to various types of character designs and palettes. But I agree that the "spot the main character trope" is quite cheesy. I don't mind bland protagonist designs as long as they have the personality to make up for it, and their bland looks typically play a role in how they may often be viewed as an underdog similar to Luffy.

Such appreciative respect towards the Dark King lol.

and on Whitebeard's ship to deliver Shanks' message regarding Blackbeard/Ace,
asks a couple dudes if they have heard of him, and Marco (then unknown) answers he hasn't.

Yeah, I realized that a few minutes ago. I was confusing that episode with the one post-Enies Lobby where Shanks finally talks to Whitebeard in-person. And to be fair, my mind has some how blocked out any memories of watching the 4Kids dub of One Piece on Toonami as my first experience with the series.

Thank you! It's always great to meet likeminded people, especially artists. I'm aspiring to become a comic book writer, but I love to analyze, critique, and appreciate designs and various art-styles as well. And I would LOVE to have a like system on this forum.

Well its not canon, as it was a movie nor was he called "Redbeard" but we did see on character with a very impressive red beard(actual beard!) and moustache very full and reminds me of the 'handlebar' type of 'staches.
