One Piece Burning Blood Update Information
One Piece: Burning Blood

Downloading the demo to this now. Not really much on arena type fighters, but with one piece I will make an exception. Haven't really been following this too closely but, looking at the roster, and gameplay its a lil disappointing that characters with established move sets like Daz Bone, Lucchi, and Vergo aren't playable in this game, but characters who've barely showed anything, or nothing in some cases are. With a side of repeat characters.(although afro luffy is awesome, but could have just been a costume) Guess they are saving them for Burning Blood two.

I received my Anison edition a few days ago and I wanted to share with you my feelings about the game (2 more achievments to unlock and I completed it at 100%, could have been harder).
First, I was worrying a bit knowing that Spike Chunsoft was the studio chosen to develop the game. I bought J Stars Victory VS day one in Japan in 2014 and played the game a lot even if the gameplay really disappointed me…
And the first thing I will say about Burning Blood is that, this time, Spike Chunsoft did a great job on the game. I truely appreciate it and have a lot of fun with it, for several reasons :
- Every character has a pretty unique gameplay very fun to play as (except for a few of them, don't really like Chopper moveset for example).
- A huge variety of introduction sequences of battle with funny dialogues between characters.
- A lot of details faithful to the manga (Sanji unable to hurt female characters, Perona beeing shocked by Usopp negativity...)
- A gameplay both affordable (by practising a bit) and challenging for the hardest battles.
- Graphics are great for me. It is always hard to adapt a manga in video game, Naruto found his style with the Storm series, but One Piece didn't had a nice graphics adaptation in video game so far. The choice of Spike Chunsoft here is pretty good. At least, characters modelling and cell-shading is great (except for Enel who has a really thin body compared to his head). Animation is also nice, but there are sometimes too much visual effects during battles (like in J STars).
- I love characters Grand Impact Ultimate animations.
- Soundtrack is quite good, not wonderful, but not bad.
Of course, the game is not perfect :
- The adventure mode is too short. Sure, cinematics are well done, but I finished it at 100% in 3 or 4 hours only.
- A few characters really unbalanced or really hard to controle (Chopper, Robin...).
- Few battle areas from the manga.
Not that much bad points in fact, I will continue to enjoy the game, the Online mode is also working well for now, and I didn't try the local multiplayer mode yet. But I really hope that they will come with a Burning Blood 2, because they did a really great job on the first one. With more characters and a story mode covering more arcs, The Burning Blood serie can have a bright future !!!
-
I hope we get a sequel for this game, but I think they might go back developing open world type games.
-
Mine finally came. Quite enjoying it thus far. Even if I am forced to play through Marineford yet again :( Not figured out how to unlock Free Mode yet but had a few fun games in the Wanted one
-
I hope we get a sequel for this game, but I think they might go back developing open world type games.
???
There has never been an open world One Piece game. -
???
There has never been an open world One Piece game. He's probably taking about the Unlimited series. They're the most "open-world" One Piece games I can think of.
-
- A few characters really unbalanced or really hard to controle (Chopper, Robin…).

To me it seems like the game is balanced I'm actually decent with Chopper Mask (just mix it up with Kung-Fu point and Brain Point) I understand what you mean but I think it comes down to how you use a specific character which is why I love this game.

I finished the Storymode and imo was that a really bad Story Mode, didn't enjoyed it at all. It was short and overall not really exciting for me.
I will wait for my western Version there I will play Wanted Mode and Versus Mode but overall Burning Blood is for me a huge Step backward in One Piece Games, but i'm not that Fa <n of="" pure="" fighting="" games="" and="" never="" called="" for="" an="" one="" piece="" game.="" its="" definitly="" better="" as="" j="" stars="" but="" overall="" not="" so="" great="" me.="" i="" have="" fun="" love="" playing="" marco="" in="" this="" game,="" he="" is="" a="" beast="" imo.<br="">To sound not to negative overall I like the Game but it does little to keep me motivated. So the Versus Mode is quite Fun other than the Story Mode. So overall I'm happy with the Game but will wait for western Version to completly undersatnd it :)</n>

Very fun for those seeking to fill their One Piece fighter cravings. I find myself replaying whenever I find the urge, but outside of that I'm afraid replayability is pretty small.

I though someone post these videos, but I guess not.

Okay i downloaded the demo a while back and I've been playing it religiously haha to master the combat system and see what it has to offer. Being a fighting game enthusiast, I'm a sucker for fighting games with tons of gameplay mechanics and this game seems to have just that so this is what I've observed so far:
-
Compared to other 3d anime arena fighters like the naruto storm games, this game plays more like an honest fighter and it employs the typical rock-paper-scissors style found in most fighting games through the use of the haki and logia systems plus the guard break.
-
Mashing is definitely encouraged, but to an extent. Mindlessly pressing buttons to attack and do special moves will definitely get you whooped if the opponent knows what they're doing. Since all the attacks have recovery frames, timing your opponents attack after blocking and knowing when to attack instead of mashing is key to winning.
-
Surprisingly enough this game seems to have alot of advanced gameplay mechanics found in other fighting games in terms of offensive and defensive options. It has the flashguard system which is reminiscent of parries found in Street Fighter 3rd Strike, Side Stepping from games like Tekken/Virtua Fighter/Dead Or Alive and a Clash like mechanic similar to the ones in the Guilty Gear series. These mechanics can give rise to some pretty high level play and epic matches.
-
I can't say much in the ways of balance till i get the chance to play the full game but from what I've seen and heard, there seems to be some pretty unbalanced characters, supports and awakenings (Boa, Robin, G4, Franky Shogun etc) but as far as i can tell from the demo, any character has the chance to defeat another character when used correctly. Granted there will be certain matchups that'll be in another characters favour, i think this can be mitigated somewhat depending on the players that use these characters.
-
From the demo and gameplay vids, i can see there's alot of character's to choose from which means the game won't get stale for a long time. And if you're playing it for the competition, hopefully the online modes will be good enough to satisfy your desires.
Well that's just my own two cents from what i observed from the demo and gameplay vids. I gotta say apart from the game modes, in terms of gameplay this game has a lot of potential and I definitely can't wait for May 31st so i can really sink my teeth into this game xD

Amazon updated my shipping to….January 7th 2017.
If they don't have it (Marineford, BTW) I'm going to cancel my order. I don't think the game looks very good but I really wanted the statue.

Same with me, but I think they will fix that soon.

Um, I don't know, man. I'd would rather perfer alternatives that are unexpected and new (like how kung fu luffy was for example).
Well there are some interesting "maybe unexpected" alternatives I can think of
1. Nami (Eneru DF Power) - since both use Staffs & have a electric attack
2. Sanji (Ace DF Power) - His Diable Jambe & Hell Memories would cool with Ace's DF Power
3. Boa Hancock (Whitebeard DF Power) - Tremor & Emperor Haki Kicks would be cool and maybe Termor Pistol as well
4. Franky (Miltary) - from the 741 chapter coverCostumes:
1. Boa Hancock (3D2Y or Amazon Lily or Jeans Freak)
2. Nico Robin (the 2nd Outfit from Episode of Nebulandia or Episode of Luffy or the 1st outfit leaving Punk Hazard or Jeans Freak)
3. Law (End of Dressrosa)
4. Zoro (from the Knight color spread) -
I'm just going by the Japanese website information. They already added SW Shanks, SW Ace, and Lucy Sabo that already been in past games. So, I can't really expect anything new or unexpecting. This is not huge problem because each alternative DLC playable character have a new move set and only some have a new ultimate special. A great example would be Lucy Sabo, but only about 90% new.
DLC Types
1. Additional Characters: It will consist of characters with modified part, deathblow, and motion. You can Enjoy the battle with a different style.2. Additional Costumes: Will be a different costume for an in-game character.
3. Hud: Customized in-game UI for specific characters.

Since I got to play the English Version of the game ,this I actually agree with. The story mode was animated well but just really boring since we were fighting mainly in the same place as well as characters being really unbalanced. The other modes are ok I guess but this game also does very little for replay value.

Respect your input Kiera well put together I agree the story mode was poor I wasn't expecting tbh most fighting games storylines are lacking. I actually like the mechanics ( even though some characters are broken and the spamming can get ridiculous especially online). I'm a fan of Fighting games so I don't mind this but I will be more anticipated for the next musou game.
Overall though 6/10 for me passable but still needs more developing -
We may not see Pirate Warriors 4 at all or for a long time.
If they do give us PW4, we won't see it until maybe after the Fight with Big Mom or Kaido since Omega Force goes by the Manga only unless you count a few of the costumes.
But I hope Bandai Amercia does release a offical survey after the American release of Burning Blood, so that we can smooth out most of the issues that come with this game for when/if they start making Burning Blood 2
-
hey guys, do you have any idea how the sells of this game is going? I mean, I believe they are nothing to write home about, but I would like to know if they are better or worse than the PW series. any clues? I've googled it but didn't find out much stuff on the matter.
-
Worse, I think its around 50-70 k in japan so far…
-
It actually sold over 100k on both PS4 + Vita in Japan.
But that's not what Bandai Namco is concerned about. They're paying close attention to how well the game does outside of Japan. -
From what I heard, fighting games in japan don't sell. over 100k in japan is very good. I feel burning blood was made for the western audience in mind, because fans have been asking for a one piece fighting game since forever.

Hmm, come to think of it, if I recall correctly, the last one piece fighting game we had on console was either Grand adventure or Fighting for one piece. I could be wrong though.

Well the last One Piece game America got that had a VS Mode was Unlimited Adventure on Wii.

It's Fighting for One Piece.
And man, that game sucked so bad.
And I mean it really, really sucked. So bad. -
I didn't have a problem with the One Piece Grand Battle games because they were very fun. I wonder how would Ganbarion develop a One Piece fighting game. I wish OP BB included more playable characters from the sky island arc.
I enjoyed One Piece Grand Battle 3 the most because of the cutscenes.
-
Is this the first one piece game that does not include lapans ?
-
Is this the first one piece game that does not include lapans ?
…I think there are several One Piece games that don't include Lapahns. The Pirate Warriors series stands out because of this.
-
PS4s just got the demo..only Aokiji,Ace,Franky and Luffy are in the demo and acts like a tutorial
-
I do hope this game sells well, but the marketing has been pretty terrible. When they have shown off the game, all they did was spam moves. It also doesn't help that this game is pretty broken too, almost or worse than v-stars broken when it comes to characters and supports. It plays much better than v-stars though, but i'm not sure how the how it will do, since people have been posting broken combos, like Boa's death beam and Kuma's triple Okie Doke, or how Luffy can just slip out of combos with Haki,.
-
Played the demo and sorry to say it, but man does the game feel clunky to play. I don't really have any fun with that system at all.
I don't really like the ultimate storm series that much, but when it comes to presentation it is miles above one piece, which is sad, considering one piece is the bigger franchise. And it still plays better than this burning blood low budget game. Hell, pirate warriors is a different gameplay system I know, but also way more fun to play.
-
Pirate Warriors gets repetitive really fast this game has the better upside but it's a let down.
-
@DIO yeah I know it'll take awhile to expect another Kaizoku Musou but I'm defiantly looking forward to it

What do you think is lacking in the system ? I think it's more stable then the Storm series for sure and presentation again I think it goes to this game also keep in mind this is the first in the franchise I do think there's somethings they have to work on.

Depends what your expecting I can play the Musou games all day.
-
Yeah, I can totally play Musou games all day.
As for the Naruto ultimate games, I like the PS2 ones better than the later ones. There was more variety in the combos. In the end, it's this variety that's important for an anime fighter. It's like action fanservice.

Just the way the knockdowns feel, the combos are lacking, the blocking doesnt feel good and so on. The fighting system for me personally just doesn't feel good. But I have enough pirate warriors games still to play, so even if I am not going to play this game, there's is still enough fun to be had with other op games.^^

Maybe the demo doesn't do this game justice, I played it for a few weeks now and I really enjoy the feeling once you get really familiar with the gameplay. But yes, maybe it is not a gameplay that fits to everyone depending on what you expected :)
Now that I have been playing online quite a lot, another bad point is how it is easy to spam overpowered techniques. I encountered a lot of people spamming Fujitora's gravity technique, Kizaru or Akainu powerful Guard break which doesn't allow your character to even stand up for a counter attack, Doflamingo clone technique… I force myself to play without spamming, because it is not fun at all for the opponent, but it is an easy way to deal great damages in no time and no effort... Guard break and special attacks should consume the Logia/Haki/Ability bar as well to limit this annoying spamming.
And it is also very easy to deal a lot of damages to a character arriving to replace a dead one. Since he is always appearing at the place where the previous one is dead, performing a guard breaking attack (Boa's mero mero mero...) at this place just before the arrival of the new character allow to directly take advantage of the situation, and it is quite frustrating when you can't do anything to counter that...

Also something real fighting games have over fun fighters. Balance. ;) -
Don't know what Amazon's issues were because I got this in the mail today
-
I got mine today too. The art book just consists of screen shots. The figures look nice. The wanted pack is on PSN, so you can buy that. I had a big issue with the game itself…the disc didn't work. At first it said unable to read disc, right out of The box. I did a restore on my PS4, which made the disc readable, but when I booted it up, it said I had to update, but I was already updated. I un/reinstalled the game, but It kept swapping between the two issues, and eventually froze my ps4 with the looking for problem page, which got stuck at 5%. My other disc based games worked just fine though.
I ended up contacting amazon about it, and they said I would have to return the whole order to get a refund. I just wanted $60 so I could just download it off PSN. I told him I could ship the disc to them, but he said that was unnecessary. Since it was a limited edition, they said the best they could do would be to give me $50, which was fine. I downloaded it off PSN and it works just fine.
-
Wow, that really sucks, I haven't had a chance to boot up my copy yet. Truth be told, I pretty much regret my PS4 (although I do really like 3 games) and the US PSN store hasn't worked on my console since the last PS4 update. The only way I can get stuff from the PSN store is to buy it on my PC and send it to my PS4. It's really inconvenient and the basic missing features like folders from PS3 make me really feel like it is a waste (not to mention NEO rumours or how DS3 runs so much better on my PC).

I know what you're reffering to I'm the same way i don't spam at all but that's what makes it fun for me overcoming those guys and using raw skill to beat them especially when they rage quit (even more satsifying) skill > spam just practise some more and learn combos you'll be able to crush anyone trust me.

I think there are some charcters with Zero comcos just mash your回 button, but in that respect there are charcters who you can mix it up with Chopper, Jimbe, Smoker, Zoro not much with Luffy but you can mix it up with him too a bit. I know there is some unbalance. There are spammers but as I toldYamiNoTenshi

Well I got the game and am going to start playing it soon

From the looks of it, they have been working on the console version and now are working on the pc version. Or touching it up.

Just an FYI to people, if you pre-ordered at Amazon, some codes did not get e-mailed. Just go to the contact section, explain in the chat and they will help you out. It happened to me and they mentioned that it seems that a good amount didn't go out. So before cursing Amazon's name… just resolve the issue politely and you will be good.

That explains alot. I was wondering why they didn't send me the email with the pre-order codes. For a moment I thought it was included in the actual game which should arrive tomorrow for me. Thanks for the info.
