Given there's pokemon bank I'd actually be surprised if they added more boxes. Good business would be keeping the same number of boxes, or lowering it by a bit, to encourage people investing in bank.
Pokémon ORAS and Spinoffs: We Go!

-
In-game NEEDS to be able to hold at least one of everything. If they add even 100 new critters the old number of boxes just won't cut it
.Let alone if your colelcting Vivillions or Unknown or something.
-
The Regis are live already :)
-
Thanks Hekti! :)
-
Well.. My videogame budget for march is just the fire emblems other stories, or the next hearthstone expansion, I can spare some for the bank…
-
Damnit. 5$ for legit Regis… I fired up x again, my boxes are a mess of genetic experiments and clones. I don't remember what was I doing.

Yes, but while I ride a bike with a volcarona (actually a talonflame in disguise) while cosplaying as arceus, what was my purpose? To be the very best, like no one ever was? Incest my tools in a Mon to mutate?

google search tells me current capacity is 930, which is space enough for the current number of existing pokemon + more than a hundred. I don't think the average trainer will need all that space, to be honest, especially since having a live pokedex is just not something everyone does.
An average person doing the "catch'em all" thing is probably not going to have every evolution accounted for, so that reduces the number of space needed as well. Just for context, just the first generation pokemon have 70 something evolutionary lines, so at best it'd be about half of the actual number of pokemon that would actually be in the boxes. Throw in a few random extra pokemon you're likely to collect in your journey, like a second team or hm slaves or gift pokemon, etc., and that still probably won't come close to the number of existing pokemon. This is all assuming an average gamer.
Then we think "oh, but what if I'm competitive and I want to breed?" Well, if that's the case, chances are you still don't really need 930 of space. Mostly because even if you breed hundreds of babies for a single species chances are that you don't actually need all of them and you can probably release all but around 5-6 that have the perfect stat/nature/ability composition to pass on to a new generation. If you're at a point in breeding where you have enough ideal babies for so many species that you're legitimately running out of space, then at that point Pokemon Bank is an obviously necessary investment.
Regarding Vivillon, there's about 20, and there's 28 unown. That's still only a small percentage of what the boxes can cover… heck, we could have a live pokedex that includes all the vivillon and all the unown, throw all the furfrou as well, all the rotoms and all the... idk, wormadams? And you probably still haven't hit the 930 limit in X and Y.So yea, I don't really get this need for more box space given we have massive reserves AND there's such a thing as pokemon bank. Why have developers invest more game memory to allow for extra capacity when it's just to cater to a relatively small population as opposed to just encouraging them to invest in pokemon bank? Plus, they get money this way!
-
IF the bank had the same interface of the game, or better as the storage system is it's only purpose, and it's supposed to be use from now on and ever, I'd jump right in, but alas, it is not.
-
The games typically unlock 8 boxes at a time per your need, so it uses less memory until you need it. It doesn't take that much more memory to give more spaces… a few K of data. The same way it wouldn't kill them to have a second save file. Cards can hold gigs upon gigs of memory now without taking any extra space, "size of game" shouldn't be much of a concern anymore. Even the DS itself has an internal memory with a few gigs of free space in it. Letting you have extra boxes, or a second save, costs literally nothing to them.
Yes, the bank is cheap enough, but its still a service outside the game, when it really would cost them nothing to have the actual game just be able to hold things. Really the main advantage of the bank isn't the storage, but that you can transfer 30 at a time... rather than the old fashioned 1 at a time.. or 6 from later on... but only with a time consuming transfer animation or a stupid minigame. Even then, the bank method is kind of clumsy and not optimized, and some people have problems with it crapping out mid transfer. (I never did but I know a lot of folks on the forum suffered problems.)
[hide]All I know is after filling out the dex, my boxes are full with little room for maneuvering.
Yes, that includes a full blown live dex which not everyone is going to do, an extra box for "teams that have beaten past games" and another box of "things Id like to use", or things with special stuff to breed" but then toss in Vivillions or a few extra legends and it's suddenly it's pretty stuffed. It leaves a lot less space for "random crap friends named in interesting ways" or "things that are rare-ish and good for trading" or "shinies". So stuff gets left behind on old games.
Yes it's not absolutely to the gills every last nook and cranny, and yes its the exception rather than the rule that's only going to start happening to people that have gone through years worth of games and that are hoarders, but it's also pretty stuffed and hard to navigate, even after labeling and box shuffling. Even in past games where I was just organizing by types rather than a full live dex it filled out pretty quickly. It's fine for any one game, but the cumlative adds up.
As is I've still ditched hundreds of extras over the years, even with the bank when it had a free trial. "Well yeah, I transferred everything on this cart but… I dont reeeeally need to drag it all back."[/hide]
-
Sounds to me like it's more of an issue that is resolved by asking them for a better interface to improve movement within the storage, which is not unreasonable. For either the game or bank.
But what I'm saying is that there's no reason whatsoever for them to add more than 930 of space. You were saying that at least they should have enough space to hold every pokemon available, and that they do.
Also, sure, "it wouldn't cost them" but it technically does. Even if it takes a minute of someone's time to do it, that's cost, and there's no reason to do that when they can just NOT do it and in NOT doing it they can ensure potential use of pokemon bank. It's also not just a question of adding another box but ensuring that there's no performance issues when storing more pokemon and more items. If they're going to spend the time on that, I'd rather they spend that time on stuff that will actually impact gameplay for everyone, like say adding better filters/queries to the storage system. -
I've got a live dex (in progress) as well as a box for all Unown types, a box for all Vivillons, and another box for all other non-legendary form differences (Basculin, Pyroar, Meowstic, Shellos and Gastrodon, Wormadam, Deerling and Sawsbuck, Flabebe and Floette and Florges, Frillish and Jellicent, Unfezant)
I'm left with just under 3 boxes for storing other Pokemon.
Luckily, I'm not a competitive trainer or breeder, but having dabbled in those before, I can see how the boxes are insufficient.
If I wanted to, I could probably include all the legendaries' form differences too, at which point I'd have even less space.
Then again, I doubt there are many people as collect'emall as I am. -
The only downside with Bank is that you need an Internet Connection.
Make it a 3DS app which saves the mons on your device with an option to upload them on your own will.I mean it's for handheld usage but you need internet which I don't have on the 3ds on the go
-
You are seeing the problem backwards, the app doesn't need to be online, true, but the Ds would improve greatly being online almost anywhere.
-
Well, but then we'd need to pay for some sort of service from someone, like people who have ipads online all the time having to pay att or other companies, and I'm personally not down for that option.
Have a 3DS pokemon bank app that syncs with the online one when you're in a wifi hotspot. You can put stuff in there while offline, and when the system detects accessible wi-fi it links with the online bank and updates it. Boom, solved.
-
Phone and stuff. While I don't trust that Nintendo will be respectful of my data plan, hearthstone has a very low footprint of data usage
What I'm saying is that the handheld and the phone should fuse already.
-
To a lot of people that technically has already happened. I just personally don't like the idea of having to pay for data as entry to be able to enjoy a game. I mean, as long as it's always an option and not something required down the line to even play a game, they can do as they wish.
-
The way that I see it is that the dataplan and setup of the home network is also that expense, and that playing pokemon battles against trainers on the go would improve my interest on the game.
-
The Nintendo bummercycle continues:
-
Farmed around 50 celebis of different languages.
This should be enough for future event trades I hope xD -
i wonder if you would be able to transfer glitched pokemon from R/B/Y to pokebank and then to sun/moon.
I hope its possible :D. I got myself all lvl 7 dragonite/hitmonchan/blastoise :D
-
Has there been any reports on what this new game will do differently outside of Mega Evolutions? I heard rumors and theories that the new games will introduce fusions but with humans instead? I saw this video and I thought it looked very familiar if you seen the Japanese borax for the logo….
It could be very interesting and it could give ash an excuse to fight Jesse and James with if this theory is true or not? (Or I could be trolled?) Who knows at this point. Sound out in the comments and tell me if this could "likely" happen?
-
No human fusions please.
-
No human fusions please.
Knowing Gamefreak? They would pull a 180 on us and surprise us somehow. Also I guess something like this could become canon in the games now…..
!
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Yes I know Hitmonchan family are an all male species? But no one has said that they can't fused with the opposition sex........
XD
-
Nitwit…We have a Pokemon Sun and Moon thread now.
-
So some countries are getting the Bird Trio with their HA, so if someone has the opportunity to get them and maybe clone them I'd be happy xD
-
So, huh… Didin't know this was a thing. Please tell I wasn't the only one.
-
So far you are the only one lol
-
Was that only in gen 2? I could swear it was in gen 1 too. Never bothered to try it afterward.
-
That was so tiring that it was unpractical.
-
Didn't know it too. Works on gen 1, and until 3 or 4.
-
It's Pokken time!
-
Nothing to see here. Just venting for a minute.
! So I've been trying to chain for a shiny Haunter for about three days now and I had never gotten very far because I got impatient. I usually broke it somewhere at around 20 or so. Just now I very carefully and slowly managed to go beyond that. I got to 40 to be exact. I got so far that a sparkling tile of grass appeared. I got so far that literally one step away from that sparkling tile I ran into a fake rustling grass tile. And then that was that. Wonderful. Come on game!
-
I hate Pokéradar with a passion.
I'm hunting for weeks for a shiny Caterpie. Even when I manage to get the 40 chain I've not encountered one even though I've got a random Shiny Scatterbug. -

When you hit your chain of 40 you only kept resetting the Pokéradar, right? At that point it might get boring but you should eventually find one. I mean, unless you do what I did. :sideways:
Edit: I'm talking about the XY mechanics. I haven't really tried out the one in ORAS.
-
Yeah I just reset once I have the 40 chain but I'm more a fan of DexNav shinies lol

I'm hunting for weeks for a shiny Caterpie. Even when I manage to get the 40 chain I've not encountered one even though I've got a random Shiny Scatterbug.Shiny Kakuna was the worst for me… I can't get the hang of Pokeradar myself :c Fishing is the easiest followed by randomly running into a shiny in friend safaries
I am at 124 first gen shinies! So close to 151 aaaaahhhhh Then I can finally work on gen 2 collection which is at the worst of states currently :C
-
Don't even know how much shinies I have for my Living Dex. My Progress is a Little bit slow atm since I'm playing a Shiny Badge Quest xD
-
I have no idea how many I have in total either @-@ I decided to concentrate one gen at the time and then started using an app called Dexter to keep track of my progress. It helped a lot but I still haven't checked off any other Pokemon from the other generations' lists. If I get one I just toss it in the bank until I decide to properly short it out!
What's a Shiny Badge Quest? O: -
You play through the game but before facing a Gym Leader you need to catch a Shiny.
So in total you only catch 8 Pokémon (or 9 if you count the E4 as a gym like I do) in the course of the Game and just use those Pokémon.I'm replaying Alpha Saphire right now and have following mons:
1 Swampert (Soft Reset)
2 Masquerain (DexNav)
3 Manectric (Random Encounter)
4 Camerupt (Hordes)
5 Roserade (Hordes)
6 Flygon (DexNav)
7 Dusclops (DexNav)Don't decided on my 8th Shiny for the 8th Gym. Always wanted a shiny Machamp though
-
Oh Gosh that sounds fun!! O: Though I suck at dex nav so baaaad…. Nice on Manectric! Definitely one of my all time faves!
How many soft resets did it take you for Mudkip? -
Rather fast … About 800 SR's if I remember correctly.
-
Aaaaaahhhh so lucky!! That's not bad at all!
-
Just thought I'd mention that Team Four Star is doing a Nuzlocke run of Leaf Green. And Robby, you are not alone in your love for Sandshrew

! > Get on your feet and step outside to find and catch wild Pokémon. Explore cities and towns around where you live and even around the globe to capture as many Pokémon as you can. As you move around, your smartphone will vibrate to let you know you're near a Pokémon. Once you've encountered a Pokémon, take aim on your smartphone's touch screen and throw a Poké Ball to catch it. Be careful when you try to catch it, or it might run away! Also look for PokéStops located at interesting places, such as public art installations, historical markers, and monuments, where you can collect more Poké Balls and other items.
In Pokémon GO, you will gain levels as a Trainer, and at higher levels you will be able to catch more powerful Pokémon to complete your Pokédex. You'll also have access to more powerful items, such as Great Balls, to give you a better shot at catching Pokémon. Keep exploring and encountering Pokémon to raise your level! There are other ways to add Pokémon to your roster, too. If you catch the same species of Pokémon enough times, you'll get the opportunity to evolve one of them. And as you explore, you may find Pokémon Eggs at PokéStops, which will hatch after you've walked a certain distance. When they hatch, you may find Pokémon you've never seen before! Some wild Pokémon will appear only in certain places near where you live or around the world. For example, some Water-type Pokémon may appear only near lakes and oceans. If you're away from home, be sure to stay alert for Pokémon you wouldn't normally encounter!
At a certain point in the game, you'll be asked to join one of three teams. Once you join a team, you'll gain the ability to assign Pokémon you've caught to empty Gym locations or to a location where a team member has placed one of his or her Pokémon. Like PokéStops, Gyms can be found at real locations in the world. Each player can place only one Pokémon at a particular Gym, so you're encouraged to work with others on the team to build up a strong defense. If a Gym is already claimed by another team, you can challenge that Gym using your own Pokémon. Using the Pokémon you've caught, engage in battle with the defending Pokémon at the Gym to claim control. A wide variety of challenges are available that highlight many different categories, such as catching Pokémon and exploration. By completing these challenges, you'll unlock achievement medals that will appear in your player profile. Try your best to unlock as many medals as you can!
A portable device called the Pokémon GO Plus will enable Pokémon GO players to enjoy the game even while they’re not looking at their smartphones. The device connects to a smartphone via Bluetooth and notifies the player about events in the game—such as the appearance of a Pokémon nearby—using an LED and vibration. In addition, players can catch Pokémon or perform other simple actions by pressing the button on the device.

Some Pokemon GO details and pictures.
Kinda wish you could battle wild pokemon still. But the gyms sound neat though.

Why does every source I could find (including Bulbapedia and serebii) state that Nidorino evolves by Moon Stone with no indication that it also evolves at Level 42? Does it happen in later games as well or is it one of those Gen 1 oddities they chose to fix?

Because it should only evolve with Moonstone. I've never heard of it evolving on its own.

Yeah, that's why I was so surprised when that message popped up. Weirdly enough it won't try to evolve again at Level 43, so I guess it really is some kind of glitch/error.

Wow, that's EXACTLY what happened! I never knew there was such a thing to begin with, that explains everything even up to why it wouldn't evolve after being given a rare candy. Amazing that I managed to fulfill all those conditions by chance, haha :D
