that watermelon chopper is actually pretty cool heh. Looks pretty legitimate as an ad imo, available @ mugiwara stores starting the 21st. Perfect theme for the hot summer….I miss them densuke melons from Japan. Another one I have to hunt down.

Regarding the WCFs....I'm at the pt where I kinda wish they'd stop releasing them lol, I keep buying them just to store, too lazy to even assemble these days. I'd like to see POPs cut down too to lesser releases but more quality/limited availability to get back some of that magic.

I was afraid of not having Pica but I'm surprised to see so much family officers. By combining this set with the previous one and the punk hazard sets, you can complete the full doflamingo family roster <3
The biggest mistake of this set: no poundman luffy :(
I wonder if they will release a Dressrosa vol 3 but I don't think so. Too bad.

Gonna get that Robin and then probably end my assosiation with P.O.P line. Honeslty don't care about most of the chars they're releasing anymore. Maybe if they do more classic Mugiwara like Luffy and Zoro I seriously doubt it.

I'm with you man….....Violet and Sabo are my only POP's of 2015, and I don't hold much hope for the future of the line........

I think they just need to take a break and resume when we have a best roster of characters available rather than re-churning the same cash cows......

For now I'm turning my attentions to their DOD line along with Tamashii who are doing some great stuff for other series............

Megahouse and Banpresto is making things easier on me quitting POPs and WCFs….that's for sure......

Megahouse made it easy for me a few years back when they started re-releasing everything under the sun. I reached my magical goal of 100 POPs and then proceeded to sell them off as fast as I could. Still sticking with WCFs, though the stupid numbering and decreased quantities are starting to irritate me. Funny thing is I haven't opened the last 34 sets. I'm too lazy to open them all at this point, so I basically just collect the boxes.

Yeah Bobloblaw, that's exactly what I'm doing now too with WCFs…..I haven't bothered opening a set in a long time and have been just gettin them and throwing them into a bin to store.......I think pretty soon it might be time to call it quits for me too....I know it'd make the wife happy lol. Leave the torch to you guys.

And i never found anything bad about policy of re-releasing: everybody should have the chance of collecting what he likes, there shouldn't be nothing of rareness or high values about toys…they should be available for who starts the collection from the beginning and for who starts one ore two years later. :-)

I totally agree with you. I know it's cool having something rare that others do want, but re-releasing items they lower prices on the after-marker which went totally crazy.
At the moment I find really sad just the decrease of production. It was a beautiful line, they could have done more.

For me, I recently started not opening the WCF boxes but since my display has some empty spaces, I do open selected ones for display purposes. I collect the entire WCF catalog so I don't see an end for me any time soon in regards to this line.

I stopped collecting about 2-3 years ago when they got too expensive to buy, i still have alot of my collections,which have missing pieces, just have them in storage since i have no room,and for the megahouse series, have no desire to keep the one i have. i still collect every now and then by buying at a specialty shop near me

Nami has already been shown painted…....but no Mihawk prototype yet or suggested future characters

I thought Robin was announced with Nami for some reason. At least that was going from a while back before Mihawk and Sabo shown their ugly mugs. Personally I'm actually giving this one a chance. I liked Luffy so much I wanted the whole line…. of Crewmembers. I just hope it doesn't go down the same route of only doing the fanservice guys like Figuarts, P.O.P, Grand Line seem to be doing

It's somehow sad to see how collecting isn't as much fun as it was before anymore. I've stopped collecting POPs a long time ago and now only get those I really like. Corazon is gonna be my first this year I think. Oh wait, there's Zoro. Yeah. I really hope that one will turn out nice because I've had every single Zoro POP and I've sold all of them at one point because there was something bugging me about them. I liked the movie Z one but it was just too big for my display case. I mean, it's not the only figure I wanna display!
Regarding the rerelease issue, I actually agree with iori, even though I gotta admit that the constant rereleasing actually made me sell off lots of my POPs. It's nice that everyone is able to get them but Megahouse just overdid it and in the end, prices often plummeted and I'm probably not the only collector who justifies buying these plastic figures with "it's an investment, I can sell them anytime without losing money". Only that Megahouse produced so many that everyone got scared the figure's prices would drop so much that they're not going to be worth 50% of the original price and everyone sold their POPs and now, some are not worth 50% of their original price anymore. ^^ Which told many collectors that if you buy POPs, you really lose money. At least that's part of the reason as to why I stopped collecting them. Another is probably the line up. They just run out of characters the fans want to buy and well those the fans would buy, are obviously not on Megahouse's 'to-do' list.

Thank god there's still Banpresto with their Scultures, Creator x Creator and MSP line, even though the latter went downhill. Funny how most of the times, Scultures are the figures I really, really look forward to. ^^'' I'm currently waiting on that awesome new Luffy and damn! time can't go by fast enough! I really wanna get that one in my hands and take loads of photos. __ Anyone else enamoured by that line?

Yesss, the Scultures Luffy is actually the first figure I'll be getting in – years I think. I kind of missed my chance on getting Crocodile and Nightmare Luffy from the line, which I also really liked.

That said I probably never was the biggest collector in the first place, but I can definitely relate to the general decline of interest in collecting around here. Part of it is definitely Megahouse's fault, who just haven't been treating their P.O.P. line too well recently, but I feel like there's also just been an overall decrease of interest in One Piece merchandise throughout the last couple of years.
For me it reached a climax around 2010, when the Strong World Movie had come out and the manga had reached a very climactic point with the Whitebeard War – which both gave really amazing room to create merchandise off. The great thing especially about the Whitebeard War was that it brought together a lot of key characters that had appeared in the story before, which I think, gave the toy companys a lot of confidence to create figures based off these side characters, whereas they aren't nearly as bold to create figures of new characters these day. Especially Megahouse seems to have missed the window on most of them, which resulted in us essentially getting next to no P.O.P.s for Fishman Island or Punk Hazard, but tons of rehashes and rereleases.

That all said I don't think such a decline in merchandise is anything specific to One Piece. I feel that for example Attack on Titan, which has been an even more recent juggernaut, has also reached it's merchandise zenith quite a while ago. And let's not forget that One Piece has proven a longevity in producing quality merchandise that most other franchises could only dream of.
I'll be just waiting what the future of One Piece merchandise (and the series in general for that matter) will bring. Maybe the magic will be recaptured – probably not though. But maybe that might not even be such a bad thing…

I made reference to the overall decline in OP merchandise popularity in another post recently. I was looking at an article from Kotaku from last year where they specifically documented the decline in OP merchandise. Since the timeskip, the quality has just declined imo. Fishman Island wasn't a great arc and neither was Punk Hazard. Dressrosa is one of my least favorite arcs next to Thriller Bark. I mean, Oda really hit it out of the park with Sabaody, then Amazon Lily, then Impel Down, and then the War. The New World was touted as this really harsh, dangerous place with a lot of mysteries, but it hasn't really been shown yet after four years. My only hope is that from here on, Oda escalates things by a factor of 10 and brings in more unique, interesting characters (as well as a few old favorites). He does that, and both merchandise and interest will pick back up. He doesn't, and things will stay the same (or get worse).

And for god's sake dont take 3 episodes to show one attack!! This is makig the OP anime go downhill. I really would appreciate it if all of the sudden OP becomes more violent and serious, a bit more fast paced in combats and adventures.

Both Manga and Anime are slowing down so much now I'm leaving it a few weeks so I have more content to digest
