Chapter 795: Suicide
-
-
Kaido so badass and make suicide his hobby. Why didnt he dive to ocean… He will dead for sure if he is df user...
Sorry everyone.
I need to ask this... Did anyone know where to find hyena fansub? Italian fansub. I cant access their web. Thank you for the responses.for the same reason people suicide by jumping out of tall buildings but not by desmembering themselves…they want death, not suffering
also we don't even know if he is a df user
-
From MS translation, it seems Kaido isn't yet aware of what went on Dressrosa? It's like he's still expecting Joker to help him out with the great war.
MP said pretty much the opposite.
If he doesn't know yet, we could see what him being pissed off actually looks like.
-

apart from his hands that became like sheeps horns?

we already know he is not aware
his henchmen where searching him to tell him that joker has fallen but they didn't find him because he was on the sky island trying to end his life -
What about supernova alliance now? can we say that Cappone is allying with Big Mom cause he wants to retrieve Caesar?
Also, apparently Kidd's aliance is straight below Urouge…
-
So how exactly did the Swirlyhats escape from Big Mom's ship and ended up on an island occupied by crew members of Kaido? That's got to be explained at some point later on because it sure as hell wasn't made obvious by what happened this chapter. Besides that, Urouge is one lucky pirate to have a Yonkou just walk past him in order to commit suicide lol Also, Kaidou's design is like the definition of badass. I really hope we get to see a little fighting with Apoo, Hawkins and Kid, so we get to see not only Kaidou's fighting style, but also how much the Supernovas have improved.
well iuf the coup of burst it's realy easy to escape from any ship really..let alone some gigantic ship that it's probably really slow in comparison
-
Maybe, but maybe those trees aren't really that big. It's the only panel where they were shown (with people).
It's a little puzzling, that's all.
I said this and almost hammered it down people's throats that shadow wasn't Kaido it wasn't back then it still isn't now. It's a building.
-
we already know he is not aware
his henchmen where searching him to tell him that joker has fallen but they didn't find him because he was on the sky island trying to end his lifeWell that figure that looks like him on his island among bonsai trees complicated things a little. Not even sure what the point of it was, except to give a hint who fell on Kid's island, since the shapes were almost identical.
-
Well looks like Shanks and WB did and managed to survive.
Yeah, I guess that makes them Yonkos, eh? Also he got captchured and defeated a few times, but still…
-
-
Bof, he's no tougher than Gedatsu…
-
One thing that's really makes sense about Whitebeard is that he lived his life to the fullest. Only man to match the pirate king in his prime. Did whatever he wanted and had freedom. Had an amazing family that loved him.
Fought in the world's greatest war and dying pretty much on purpose. Whitebeard knew he wouldn't be the strongest forever.
Kaido wants to die like Whitebeard.
The strong get to choose how they die (Aokiji and Zephyr would agree)
Whitebeard and what he stands for are the most heartwarming things you can ever read, fearsome pirate that sends chills down people's spines just from his mention but he's like the cuddliest bear that is raising his sons to be strong with great values. But you can tell he's from a generation that is long extinct because he didn't want any daughters lol probably that traditional view of women aren't built for this type of lifestyle.
-
When Oda talked about Kaidou, HE SAID NOTHING ABOUT DROWNING! That's why i think he is a Devil Fruit user.
-
apart from his hands that became like sheeps horns?
Yeah, that is the thing. Hands don't normally turn into horns, it turns into either claws of talons. Maybe its a Smile thing.
-
Does anyone else get the feeling that Kaido's introduction was pushed forward because Oda's editor told him that what he had planned next was too boring? :ninja: (same goes for his design)
-
I love Kaidou's attitude that he just want to see the world burn, hence attacking Whitebeard, because why not, and hence planning on starting the greatest war ever. I guess that's the kind of mentality you develop when you simply can't die. Would also explain why he has been captured 18 times and defeated 7 times, because when you simply don't give a fuck and have nothing to lose you're eventually going to take too risky bets.
I'd like to see Luffy's statistics for all this. He has also suffered defeat, been captured and avoided certain death a lot of times now, albeit likely for different reasons.
-
Now i think that when Shanks stopped Kaidou it was because he tried to attack WB alone, and so Shanks and his crew could stop him.
I think that Kaidou is mad with WB not because he died but, he died living behind the legacy of the Battle of the Strongest which Kaidou was not taking part of. That's why in the last pannel he says he is gonna create the battle of the century.
I am curious to see why Kaidou is so obsessed in catching Momonosuke, the grunts of Kaidou say something about catching the "samurai" and not Momonosuke itself.
That island is not Zou, i think that Zou was planned to be a escaping route by Law because it's his turf, and in that island there are Law's crew waiting for the SH's to help them. So they got onboard of BM ship and they run away, so they changed their route to another island that makes part of Kaidou territory.
Now we understand why Gecko Moria was so obsessed with an immortal crew, after seeing that Kaidou can't be killed, with this we understand the conception of "strength" of Gecko Moria, when he says something about "if my crew were all a bunch of zombies, i wouldn't lose at all".
Even if i loved how Kaidou was introduced it still disappoint me, because i was hoping that Kaidou was a rudeless man that hides behind not only in his own strength as in his military power, in his allies and pirates working under him, focusing in his special devil's fruit zoan army ( aka SMILE army ). Because with this, i would love to see DD playing an important role as an indirect Luffy army.
Why? Because i still think that SMILE was not created to strengthen Kaidou military force, but the other side, weaken it. By telling him that SMILE give him strength by creating a Zoan army, with secondary effects that could kill or weaken the men they take this kind of devil fruit. I will try to explain it better in other time.So Kaidou in this chapter finds 4 Supernova. Coincidence ? I don't think so. I think that we now understand how Kidd - Appo - Hawkins alliance is gonna take down Shanks. I read here people saying that the decisive factor to take down Shanks would be BB, and i agree with that, but with this chapter i think another circumstance is being created for that fight.
So far we are going, we see that 7 Supernova ( Drake, Hawkins, Apoo, Kidd, Luffy, Law, Urouge) are very close to each other in terms of space. 3 are with Kaidou, 2 are gonna be in Kaidou territory ( when Luffy and Law join SH crew ), Urouge is above the first 3 people i mentioned, and finally Drake is between Kaidou crew. 7 Supernovas from the worst generation is calling for an epic battle between them.
Funny to see how Kaidou is in one Winter island when the newspaper says that DD was defeated, and some time after that he is already in close to Urouge.
To end it, i am gonna make you all hate me. I think that Luffy - Law alliance is not complete, there is one more person missing. That person is Drake. As far as the manga goes all Supernova are ambitious people that want to have success in their piracy life, some stronger than other, but all of them share pride in their strength. So i can't believe that Drake accepted to work under Kaidou for nothing. I think he just realized that in New World you need two things: knowledge about everything, since navigation to your enemy full strength, and that's is exactly what Drake is doing. By defeating that Cyborg in one of Kaidou favorite islands he made Kaidou pay attention to him as a strong man, plus Drake maybe already knew about the Zoan army, so another good thought of him is his own devil fruit. An Ancient Zoan fruit, it is rare and strong, so all of that are good ingredients to make Kaidou accept Drake between his own men.
OK, it makes sense, but all of that for what? As i said, almost all Supernova defined one Yonkou to defeat, because it gives them a boost of confidence and a big reputation to be even more feared they already were, plus they can keep their journey to find One Piece with one less bar between them and their dream (admiting that find the One Piece is their only dream to start this journey ).
So Drake, for some reason choosed Kaidou, and the Drake we know from Sabaody Arc, and even when he defeated the Cyborg man, is a very calculating man. He doesn't act by impulse like Kidd or Luffy. So he prefered to stay by Kaidou's side, waiting for someone to fight him and then join that same people. The alliance right now that selected to defeat Kaidou first is no other than Luffy - Law alliance, they three fit perfectly like the other alliance. We have 2 calculating men plus one impulsive one with a physical ability that seems to exceed that other two. Plus Drake has information about Kaidou that can boost the winning success rate calculated by Law from 30 % to a more suitable value that could make the risk of fighting a Yonkou worth.Just a curiosity, i think Oda is trying to show us some kind of sketch of the Yonkou domain, i think that right now the New World map is something like:
Fishman Island - Dressrosa - Big Mom territory
Island where Sanji is - Kidd base - Winter Islands - Kaidou territory
Old Whitebeard turf - Black Beard territoryI would like to ask you guys about when in this chapter talk about monsters in the sky:
http://readms.com/r/one_piece/795/2882/15
Do they mean something like when SH crew goes to Skypea and Cricket and the monkeys talk about huge people that they see in the clouds from time to time, and then we realize that the huge shadows are shadows from people that live in the sky? Or do they mean something else….
-
Does anyone else get the feeling that Kaido's introduction was pushed forward because Oda's editor told him that what he had planned next was too boring? :ninja: (same goes for his design)
I fail to see things going this way.
Anyway, this chapter gave me quite a fangasm. I will read 5 times per day. -
Yeah, that is the thing. Hands don't normally turn into horns, it turns into either claws of talons. Maybe its a Smile thing.
we already saw plenty of things like this at marinefordt
-
I think they meant like he's a chimera ant! LOL
-
When Oda talked about Kaidou, HE SAID NOTHING ABOUT DROWNING! That's why i think he is a Devil Fruit user.
Question is, did Kaido even know there's an island under him. For all we know, he might have expected he was going to fall into the sea and drown. The island looks like it might be moving around.
Speaking of the flying island, there seems to be quite some damage on the buildings. Urouge, Kaido or someone else? Doubt it's Kaido.
-
Hakuba in chains was hilarious.. Also found it interesting that it was said that you'd have to create an alliance just to get past all the enemies guarding an emperor, yet Kaido is running off on his own. Kaido is probably going to be incredibly unpredictable because of what personality oda has shown us so far, it'd be very interesting if Kaido ran off and faced SH + Law just to see if he could die, Luffy and Law impressing him enough that he doesn't kill them like garbage then leave which would show the power gap that exists. That's probably why oda has him falling on the island Apoo, Hawkins and Kidd, to showcase Kaido's strength.
I have no idea how Moria was supposed to be able to fight on par with Kaido, I guess him saying he wouldn't have lost if his crew mates were already undead was conceited, unless he had crew members stronger than himself. Then again he might have been strong back in the day and just lost most of it from laziness / lack of will. It could easily just be that there wouldn't be any pain of loss involved with losing someone who is already dead and to fight Kaido you'd need a massive undead army since so many would fall to the strongest creature.

Marco's feet turned into talons, makes sense. Marco's arms turned into wings, also makes sense. Was there another zoan besides Onigumo and Dalmatians?
-
Kaido probably has the mythological Zoan of Sun Wukong the Monkey King
In his novel " Journey to the West " there is a part where
! After a great war the monkey king gets captured by the gods and gets tortured over and over, the way they describe the tortures in the novel and the way Kaidou's tortures are described on this chapter is almost the same

"The strong live and the weak die! That is the only law of this world."
Obligatory Attack On Titan reference.
I actually like the outfit Nami's wearing. Her shirt covers up a little more and she did save Chopper and Brook. It's so nice to see this group again and see little bits of action from them. The whole island seems to be having a livestock theme, also a vulcano that spews water instead of fire? I also like that the new woman at least has a more unique face, instead of the Nami sameface. It seems like an interesting island.
The highlight of course, is Kaidou, though. His design looks great and his introduction is unique.
-
damm kaido is so massive

onigumo's hair turned into spider's legs

Maybe Kaido just wasn't as strong back then. He did get beaten 7 times and got captured 18 times. He obviously wasn't always a monster he is now.
Wonder if that also has something to do with his ability. Getting stronger after each defeat or near death (reminds me of Kenpachi too much, though). I'd prefer if he came to the top simply by not giving up and fighting. Or, if he came to the top trying to kill himself against strong opponents (more likely, lol).

onigumo's hair turned into spider's legs
Looked to me like like those legs grew from his back. Doesn't have to be his hair simply because it was on top.

Am I the only one who thought of Ban from The Seven Deadly Sins?

This was during W7/EL… this is after the timeskip:
Then how can blackbeard be there??

Monkey vs Monkey
Well played. -
-
Kaidou's entrance was really great. Kind of disappointed it wasn't Doflamingo committing suicide… or that no one committed suicide.
-
Sanji, Nami, Chopper, Brook ARE BACK??!!!
KAIDOU REVEAL?
KAIDOU HAS A GAG? his character sounds more interesting then Zoro's and we had like 2-3 pages about him only. He's the actual badass.
KHA vs Kaidou battle?F**k, I expected 20 pages of Fujitora gambling with Maynard.
-
OP anime sucks monkey ballz.
Yes, but Kaido didn't look like Broggy with longer mustache first. That broad faced Kaido was drawn by Oda right?
-

Yes, 8 years ago. What can I say, he changed his mind. Kanjuro's head changed 2 times during the course of Dressrosa arc alone. I left images in one of the last pages.
Also, OP anime is shit.

I think Mangastream clarified a lot of things, i don't get the hate. Of course excessive wording is their gimmick kinda, but that's alright in this context.
So… Whitebeard was the strongest man alive,'that's true, but Kaido's described as the top of the food chain, "of all the things that crawl, swim" etc. We don't have a confirmation yet, but I strongly suspect he is immortal, as in, ageless. So Whitebeard, as the strongest man alive would have died of old age anyway, but Kaidou would live on, as an invincible, (albeit not unbeatable), creature. That's metal.
The number of his defeats, executions, etc. is very impressive, and unique in its own sort of way. Kaido certainly is a very interesting persona, and as we saw, his storyline can go basically anywhere, hell, him coming to Dressrosa was considered a joke, now it isn't, as we clearly see he just doesn't give a fuck, and could have ended up there by accident. It is so nice seeing Chopper and brook again, they seem to be having their own adventure which is nice, I guess.
Fujitora is… of uncertain loyalties. I'm still interested in where his story would go. -
Assuming Kaido has a DF, and his not dying-effect is passive, I guess he could even survive drowning. And whereas the DF effect still passively kicks in, he still could slowly crawl back to the land with his natural immense strength - albeit weakened, of course.
Otherwise, if drowning would completely cripple him, it would be way too easy.
-
Whole chapter feels rushed and messy, continuity is off balance and the Sanji group stuff feels completely out of place.
Kaido looks like Jason Momoa's Aquaman.
-

Anyways I got 10 responses just because I said Oda might be slipping which I meant as a joke. I am glad that characters like the Yonkou and are drawn much more "normal" although bigger than many characters. What I don't like is the way Oda draws fat guys with their small legs like Chinjao or Pica. They look even dumber in the anime. Characters like Vergo Mihawk or the Supernova are normal sized humans but they all have their distinctive traits, styles, accent, laughter, power. That's what makes One Piece special if you ask me. I just imagine Bleach and (except Mayuri and Kenpachi, or that dog) the only difference beetwen characters are their hairstyle. Grumpy, boring old men swinging swords.
-
Amazing chapter.. Genius ODA! w00000000t!
- Nami looks like Vivi on the cover lol
- CC acts like a new Nakama.
- I Missed SANJI :D and furious chopper in a cute mode.
- The enemy in zoo or whatever this island name is looks like young franky? maybe his native country? brother? or w/e
- Kaido looks amazing… he look more like oars ... Maybe oars rap*d a giant girl. lol
- Did Urouge knew it was Kaido?
- the dude that appears to jump from the sky ain't got the same look as a big musclar guy, looks more like Doflamingo himself especially with that OkamaStyle position.
- What does Kaido mean by do it Joker? they got something up their sleves.. ain't he defeated/arrested yet? or does Kaido ignore Joker's already defeated?
-KIdd alliance is f*cked up. Time for more epic scars.
-

I imagine him falling into the sea, only to hit a giant whale that was just passing through, after which the whale angrily slaps Kaido away and towards a random island with his tail.
-
A Yonkous crew wouldn't do shit against Kaido.
Its 1 on 1
-
I loled at Hakuba being tied up with chains and the crazy face while he's sleeping.

Then his only weakness is BlackBeard. would deactivate his DF powers… or a LAW/LUFFY combination. actually law is very dangerous, he can withdraw your heart in a mili second. and then just explode it already.
-
Kaidou officially has best character introduction in the series, and a great gag along with it? Shieeeetttt
Even though they're just mooks it felt so refreshing to finally see some new characters + the Sanji group after two years of Gladiators and Dressrosa drama
-
Disapointed with caesar this chapter, his interactions with thw swirly hats were going so well. Awesome kaidou reveal, guy's a badass with a badass quirk. The strongest creature in the world is probably due to his cheat death ability, not actual battle power. He also has my new favorite jolly roger. Glad to see ishou back to normal too.

There must be a catch to Kaidou not being able to die, he obviously got hurt hence the massive scar (my money is on Whitebeard). In the same note, he should be able to kill himself if he wanted. I wonder who defeated him, my guess is the other Yonkou and admirals as he was growing up. How did Shanks manage to stop him? Hard to tell but considering Kid's reaction it doesn't seem like the person who ripped off his right arm, so if not Kaidou who? I'm guessing maybe they'll off-handedly mention that they are after Shanks and Kaidou will allow them to leave. Also considering the Yonkou we have a human sized person (Shanks), two extremely large humans Blackbeard (formerly Whitebeard), a giantish human Big Mom, and a Oars size giant Kaidou. Humans are already weaker than giants by far so imagine a giant with the power bonus of Whitebeard. AMAZING GOD LEVEL chapter, so many questions. Oda better let us see what Kaidou does next!!!
Bonus questions/ideas
+Kaidou said it's time to start a great war, we've seen Shanks stop a war by his presence, and Whitebeard cause one by trying to free Ace. It's very probable Kaidou will be able to start a war easily similar to his fellow Yonkou
+Kaidou's silhouette is similar to the one we saw in 793 but is it the same? -
To me, Kaidou looks on a similar size with WB, not the giants. His shadow looked like a giant, but shadows' are not accurate at all. Kanjuro's shadow looked nothing like him.
