Hmm, well, I do like the characterisation of uh, the characters, but when I read Tokyo Ghoul:re, I don't think I'll be weeping manly tears. Maybe Yoshimura's past, but other than that! I like mostly the (well-thought out) plot, and the thrill of seeing what's gonna happen next. What I'm saying it's that it's not quite the same as One Piece's "sniff Hiruluk died sniff".
It's a different kind of feeling, and I get the feeling it's going for something different and it's not quite there yet.
Maybe it takes a few re-reads, (and I must make a point to re-read :re)but I didn't quite feel the whole Urie scene. It was built up, but it just felt like a copy of Kaneki-Banjou, and I wasn't really moved. And this week, the whole "Suzuya, I have to cover your ears, you can't hear this!" felt a bit weird.
I think that's because most of Tokyo Ghoul is sad / tragic and you kind of get used to bad things happening. On the other hand, One Piece is filled with lots of comedy so when you have a sad flashback, there is a big contrast which brings a stronger emotional response. It's probably the same reason people don't cry when reading something like Berserk or Attack on Titan because you can't expect happiness to last in those worlds.
So the author decided that after all that, they would sit on the fence with resurrecting Ken?
Things i've taken from this chapter: madam is a male.
Every other piece of info is useless.

Yeah, I get that. I really love TG and AoT, but I don't think I've really cried with them, to me they're more fascinating to dissect and analyse, thrilling and shocking (Well, I haven't really actually cried with One Piece really either, mostly just teared up, but it's different with series as tragedy as their focus).
Ooh. The new chapter was really interesting. In the end inside all of the insanity, Kaneki is just a broken kid - at this point it's pretty clear white hair represents a broken mental state and here he's a kid, too. Calling Kaneki "cool" for his insanity is just becoming increasingly off to me. He's a broken person. It's entertaining on a surface level because of the action, but it really isn't "cool" once you think about it.
Who is the guy that looks like Colonel Sanders?
Who is the guy that looks like Colonel Sanders?
Are you referring to Croque Monsieur? He's Shuu's dad and the one competing against Big Madam in the auction for Mutsuki.

Are you sure? There were plenty of important information in this chapter that could have been easily missed out such as Seidou eating his parents which kind of shows why he's so messed up or revelation of Floppy being Amon and that he's been working together with one of those half ghoul twins.
^It's a joke.
where's my Amon.
Chapter 31.5 is out
http://imperialscans.com/read/tokyo-ghoul-re/31-5-with-the-master/1
Wow. So much nostalgia.
I didn't notice it before, but the Auction raid took place on the 11th of November. 11/11. Do you know what Tarot number the Hanged Man is? Damn it Ishida Sui.
Anyway, the kind of breather chapter is just what this series needed. (Just like MHA). I suppose Ishida Sui has some kind of magic number he's going for with :re, so this chapter can only be called a half chapter, this is as equally important as every other chapter.
Arima with an umbrella is awesome to me. Finally, I know I wasn't the only one who thought Ixa's defense mode resembled opening an umbrella.
At first Sasaki giving Mutuski an eyepatch was hmmmmm and then at the end of the chapter Eto actually sends him Kaneki mask in it's entirety which was wtfffffff you trolllll
Edit: Also Twisted Hel Scans has completed the entire series! Check it on their website or on Batoto.
Arima is the most the guy with the biggest suspicious vibe in the world.

Actually the mask was sent by Uta because "HySy" is the name of his mask shop. The other gift "Hanged Man's Macguffin" was probably sent by Hide because its the same book he got signed by Takatsuki. He's also the only one we know so far who's aware of Kaneki's date of birth and the fact that she's his favorite author. But knowing Ishida, I could be dead wrong since he's unpredictable as fuck.
Also the tarot card for Hanged Man is 12 which is funny because its December in the current timeline of TG.
I'm gutted that Urie didn't die. I thought he got eaten and now he's getting a promotion.
Also what did Saiko do to warrant a promotion? Did I miss something? Wasn't she a useless spectator during the battle?

Off-screen, she unleashed a crazy powerful attack on…I think it was Nutcracker.
Love is always a hurricane. Will Shu's heart heal anytime soon ?
I hope Aogiri will help Hinami. Or maybe crazy Sasaki will…

Err, Tsukiyama is crazy because of incest? Wtf?
Okay, I don't know where this is going anymore. Find the plot, please.
The shady guy in the end of chapter definitely has some connection with the V organization and the chances of Hinami's survival really is close to zero. I really hope Ishida doesn't kill her off ffs..

Not sure if you're serious but the plot is the same as the prequel.
@Pierrot.:

I mean that the story is feeling rather directionless now.
And the story isn't the same as the first.

How is it directionless?
And its a continuation of the first so its not like the story now is completely different.
We are probably moving into a jailbreak arc, right ?
We are probably moving into a jailbreak arc, right ?
Its more like a Tsukiyama arc right now. The parallel in the chapter cover kind of indicates that.

Hopefully it's both. Muhuhuhu!
What is going on? When its a flashback and when its not? I'm confused!

There was only one flashback. (Hinami and Ayato's first encounter)
LoL I thought I got it but I didn't. Thanks.
CHAPTAAAAAAA!
http://imperialscans.com/read/tokyo-ghoul-re/34-great-shape/1 Well, not much happened. New characters with complicated ranks and names as usual. Cool chapter.
Something tells me that the game Saiko was talking about is Splatoon.
I don't know what AK is btw.
AK 47 maybe ?
About the flashback, does it mean that Shirazu already met Nutcraker in the past ?

Most likely her dead soul playing tricks in his mind or he somehow heard the same words in the past.

Hm yeah I guess he didn't actually meet her.
Otherwise he would have remembered during the fight, for the drama.

CS Go reference maybe?
Saiko is basically an internet-culture based character:
OFFICIAL ART BY ISHIDA SUI BTW
am I the only one that just feels confused reading TG: re as of late? All the weird shit combined with the weird ass art has just fried my brain.
am I the only one that just feels confused reading TG: re as of late? All the weird shit combined with the weird ass art has just fried my brain.
For me it´s the japanese names. SO MANY, I should just start naming characters Taco and Kittles to keep up with who the fuck they are talking about.
The art has some weird moments, but overall I feel like it´s "understandable".
Dunno, for me the only difference between Re and the first part is the cast. And also the fact that I'm caught up and reading weekly. So yeah it's harder to remember everyone every week but that's it.
To me the auction arc actually felt a bit like Dressrosa lol. There's a lot of stuff (too many meybe) all going on at once.
But I do feel the art could be better. The art has gotten quite scribbly, and there's too much screen tone.
I feel like the story over all is not hard to comprehend. Having said that, I'm still waiting for the story to actually progress. What did they do to kaneki to make him the way he is, what going on with the ghouls we came to know and love from part 1? Why the fuck are there so many new people introduced every week? Is it a secret that kaneki is now working for the other team? Do only a few people know about it or is it public knowledge? How can he eat regular food now? Pick up the pace already. Ugh
BA-BAM NEW CHAPTER

Oh! As expected from Sythus. Thanks.
She looks like Ochako.
Oh! As expected from Sythus. Thanks.
You flatter me! I'm really curious about her and what to see more of her. If she is a member of Arima's squad it must mean she is one of the strongest the CCG have got. The creepy smile she has is a bit of a turn-off though, who knows how twisted she might be.

I swear, some of the background in Tokyo Ghoul :re look like they were taken from photographs.
