One hit k.o a battle god?!
I don´t know why iam still reading this stuff, damn routine^^

Okay for what it’s worth one could say this (WAR GOD) thing came out of no where, so I guess one could give Mashima the benefit of the doubt, but then again this is FT the manga I thought you read, but don’t take it seriously lol.
I do like the fact we get two chapters, but damn the payoff is weak.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Also Mashima ripped off the Gear 4th scene from chapter 783.
are you talking about the luffy speech to doffy or ….
-
I guess this is all a arc/story/battle easy as far as it need to be to make the hype go down before the GREAT, FINAL, EXPLOSION OF BATTLE WHERE NATSU AND GREY OR SHADOW-MAN WILL FIGHT AS REALLY ENEMIES AAAAAAND… Natsu win with just one peanut. End of story. The same story, the same bullshit, the same storyshit.
-
Also Mashima ripped off the Gear 4th scene from chapter 783.
You mean where the main character punched really hard? Y-yeah…what a thief!
-
18 war gods? Was this mentioned before? Well I guess if there were god slayers it makes some sense.
They have been mentioned before - Minerva's magic was stated to be based on one of them. However, unless it turns out that the god can either regenerate or is still able to fight in the next chapter, that was anti-climactic even by the standards of this series.
I get the idea of beating a strong opponent to show how powerful the main characters have become, but that's already happened at least once after this time-skip (with Bluenote; the members of Avatar could be argued if it wasn't clear that they're basically fodder), and usually, it applies to more than one character. (it would be nice if someone other than Natsu had the opportunity to do this sort of thing)
I feel like the pacing seems to be the series' biggest problem; while it's nice that fights don't drag on and on to the point where a single fight takes up twenty chapters, Mashima always seems to rush the end of the fights so that they're either ridiculous abrupt or poorly explained (if they're even given an explanation at all).
-
I can imagine the fans of this claiming that Mashima is a genious because he forshadowed the God with God slaying magic…
When I read the first chapter the second hadn't come out yet. Eventually i had to leave and could only read chapter two hours later.
One of my first thoughts was "Lol, how bad would it be if Natsu finished this with one punch". Well, I have my answer now, it was bad. Very bad.
For a guy that simply cannot hold any kind of tension for more than one week, this whole "4 weeks, 8 chapters" thing is perfect for Mashima. Now he doesn't even have to wait one week.I'm honestly starting to believe any person in this forum could do a better job with this series than Mashima if they had the drawing skills, and for me that's the ultimate insult you can throw at an author.
Bleach and Naruto had years and years of piling up layers of shit over layers of shit and not for once I thought i could make a more interesting series, week after week, than Kubo or Kishi.
I'm pretty sure I could come up with something more refreshing, or at least something bad, but that could cause some impression on the reader than Fairy Tail.Reading Fairy Tail is like eating a leaf of lettuce without any kind of sauce: it's bland.
And the sad thing, I actually expected more. It's like I didn't learn anything since the Oracion Six arc. -
So yeah…what was with Erza staring at Natsu longingly? I wouldn't have noticed it, if it hadn't taken like two panels. That came out of nowhere, and was the real weirdest thing this chapter.
-
This has to be NatsuErza, ErzaNatsu, NaZa, ErTsu, whatever…
-
If one of the 18 so-called gods (who arguably are the source of god-slaying magics) can be defeated that easily, it might explain why godslayer magics are so underwhelming.
-
@Bartholemew:
This has to be NatsuErza, ErzaNatsu, NaZa, ErTsu, whatever…
NaZa! That's perfect. That will be the ship that takes us to space.
-
This chapter was supremely stupid.
-
How people dont expect this by now…
The way Natsu has been plowing through everything and the way the God was summoned tells me it's not that serious of an enemy.
Maybe Mashima surprises me and the fight continues like in the Doflamingo fight.
-
Mashima does it again! And I was kinda liking the war gods design, but then the very little joy I had was quickly washed away. I don't even know what to think anymore. Every single time there is a hint of tension you swipe it away immediately. Mashima must really like to troll us.
-

But oh boy. Natsu is angry cause the cultist that's all about death is letting their members die….Lol. Guess this giant is going to get the full experience of Natsu's year long training. sigh
@Bartholemew:
Nope. Seriously… The 18 Battle Gods of Yahtzee... This is almost Kaguya level.
Well, at least these chapters gave me a very good laugh!
It was mentioned before.

And then you have the four God Slayer's who were introduced prior to Mavis's revelation, as far back as the Grimoire Heart Arc, whose magical abilities namesakes hinted that gods exist in the Fairy Tail Universe.
-
Don't understand people complaining Natsu one-shoted the GOD, because he didn't!! It took 2 hits!! :ninja:
-
seems fairy tail gods are more some kind titans than deities
-
Don't understand people complaining Natsu one-shoted the GOD, because he didn't!! It took 2 hits!! :ninja:
The first hit was ineffective. The second hit could have(and did) finished the job on its own. It was a 1HKO. I don't understand the complaining either though. This should be expected from Fairy Tail. I just laugh and move on.

About both the speech and what followed after.
-
I find it hilarious that Natsu thinks the reason he lost Igneel because he was too weak. Igneel was dead the whole time, only to be revived as Deus Ex and would have died again soon enough even if Acnologia hadn't done shit. I bet Natsu's "friends" never told him what they heard directly from the Dead Dragons.
Well, of course! Natsu just went off on his own before they had chance to tell him that, leaving his "friends" to weep over a disbanded guild and let them scatter all over the place, in order to pursue individual strength. It only makes his speech about "working together with friends" even more hollow and pretentious than it already is.
Now I think I'm starting to grasp the real purpose behind the disbandment of FT guild. It is most likely a subtle way to sort out minor characters that don't contribute much on the story and focus more on the ones that do.
-
You mean where the main character punched really hard? Y-yeah…what a thief!
Actually, Mashima didn't rip off the Gear 4th scene….............He ripped off Luffy's scene when he first did Red Hawk on Hody Jones. It's almost a carbon copy of the scene from the "I got stronger so that I'll never loose anyone again." speech right down to the single panel showing the individual that motivated the decision to get stronger; I would let the fact that they are both fire-based moves slide (since that is Natsu's thing), but there are too many uncanny similarities for it to just be coincidence.
But you know, it's not the fact that Mashima ripped off Oda that angers me; sometimes it adds to a series to pay homage to (or steal from) the great works of others. No............What pisses me off is that Mashima did it poorly in order to showcase this BULLSH*T MOVE.
-
That is what you get when a series is rushed, totally unsatisfying beasting a demon god.
Toriko is also fast paced, but there it´s done right. -
The next two deities will be Team Rocket's member. The defeat effect is the same.
-
I dub natsu two punch man. Let this manga end.
-
I swear, it's like some of you invested money in Fairy Tail.
-
16 chars of Yes
(stopped at volume 22 though)

I swear, it's like some of you invested money in Fairy Tail.
I rent FT from book rental whenever I see the new volume comes out. Renting only costs 10% of the actual price, but money's still money:ninja:
Its popularity in here is dubious though. Even if people read it, it's most likely due to its resemblance to OP just with more tits and asses.
-
I was first attracted to it exactly because it gave off OP vibe, back when there were like 30 chapters released. Saw it on some scanlation group cover I think. It looked so promising then.
-
Fairy Tail is an easy enough read, and even if the plot falls into repeated shticks and plotlines (Power of Friendship, DEM to save the day, etc.), the characters are interesting enough and the art is consistent. Plus, if nothing else, you can always rely on it being available each week as Mashima has a work ethic that is almost unparalleled in the Manga industry. He's very rarely taken a week off, even for holidays, and even pumps out two chapters in the same week at some points (like he's doing right now). He's like the anti-Togashi.
-
Mashima's work ethic may look impressive for some, but it's actually ineffective. If he doesn't take enough break, it means that his mind won't get a chance to relax and he won't get new fresh ideas. The result is the FT we all love to talk shit about : Bland, repetitive and uninspiring.
I wonder for how long he can overexert himself like that. There's no way it doesn't affect his body and mind in the slightest.

I heard Mashima is animating it all on his own. :ninja:
-
More like he's directing it himself. Animating is for the drones to do, man. Mashima is the boss :ninja:
-
At this point I wouldn't be surprised he's making entire movie by himself, while busting out two chapters a week + FT Zero.
-
It makes me wonder if Mashima has planned anything for after he's completely done with FT. Can't tell anymore whether he's rushing it toward the end or desperately milking for its worth by releasing more additional chapters + spin-offs while he still can.
Also, I've seen some people mistyped "Fairy Tale" as "Fairy Tail" as of late. It must be bad omens.
-

I wonder what the meaning of Fairy Tail, anyway? Sure, it's a pun of Fairy Tale. But what's the deal of the "Tail" part? Is there anything clever hidden, is there any subtext behind it aside from the aforementioned pun?
Besides, I wonder does there exist any kind of subtext in the Fairy Tail manga? Is there any place in the manga where something is said/shown that could be considered to have a not blatantly obvious subtextual message? And no, that's no rhetorical question. I'm seriously wondering.
Hmm, maybe something regarding the Siegrain/Ultear conversations at the earlier chapters…? Okay, I guess the age barrier at the fighting festival and the way Natsu got affected by it might count, but other than that there isn't much actual subtle stuff, eh?

No idea what Mashima's idea was behind the Fairy Tail name originally, but in the manga one of the characters explains why the guild is called Fairy Tail.
-
Well, okay, I've found it.
"Do fairies really have tails? Do they even exist… Like them, this place as an eternal mystery... A never ending adventure!" ~ Makarov in ch. 63
So the titular name of the guild is because... it's a mystery whether fairies have tails? It may make a little bit sense actually, but it just feels so random.
Do fairies eat bread? Welcome to Fairy Bread!
Do fairy really have tits? Welcome to Fairy Tits! -
Fairy Tits would be a pretty cool manga title
-
If you google it and look for images, guess which franchise's characters are dominating the results…
Same for boobs or ass.
-
The same idea goes for Mermaid's Heel and Quattro Cerberus.
-
Didn't Mashima already announce he had another series planned about a year ago? I I think I recall seeing some sketches of early character designs

Was that not about his latest one-shot?
-
So all you have to do is burn your face off to summon a god? No wonder it got fodderrized.
-
Was that not about his latest one-shot?
Found the article: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2014-01-19/fairy-tail-hiro-mashima-to-start-new-manga-series
"However, on Sunday, he
to watch an anime whose concept is similar to the story he had conceived for the next series. He reluctantly gave up on this initial concept and is starting from scratch again."
Welp. Guess it's in limbo
-
He gives up his concept because there is something similar? Luckily for him no one introduced him to TvTropes yet.
