What a waste of resources that last chapter was, was there even a point to it?
The omake Wintermute posted was infinitely better.

He keeps a picture of himself and his daughter inside Super Sexy Shock magazine.
It probably fell into it by accident, right? Right?
I feel a bit bad that I found this funny. What have I become!? :sad:
Not what I was hoping for. I thought that Mashima saw Death Battle, and decided it would be a good idea to do one of his own. How that was a better idea than what was actually produced, is beyond me.
Fairy Tail probably works best when there's no text …

With what the Omake was like, that could be taken very creepily. I hope you mean you can make up your own story and lore which would be better than what's been given. That or the panels give more emotion without text.
Please don't tell me we'll get 1 chapter like this for every character's story now, because that will make me claw out my own eyes.
I like what he was trying to do but I feel like these kind of silent chapters work best when it shows a montage of many different characters all in different situations. This chapter was still fun regardless.
Also was Gildarts just going to have a wank in the woods? Not even gonna bother setting up a tent or something?
Yay respect mashima you can draw a lot. Nothing of it matters, but respect for your work ethic I guess.
The last chapter was actually rather nice ('cept for Gildarts keeping a photo of himself and his daughter in sexy magazines. That's creepy as hell)
It was nice seeing the textless take on a chapter, if only to break things up. As long as this isn't done for every timeskip chapter, that is.
Also was Gildarts just going to have a wank in the woods? Not even gonna bother setting up a tent or something?
Well, it's one of the pros in being a half hermit, who travels alone through the world: you can shake hands with your best friend whenever you want and wherever you want… especially if you're in the middle of a wook, filled with strange monsters. :ninja:

Ever wondered why his punches are so strong?
Especially his main right arm.
Puts a whole new light on his 100-year "quest".
I guess that explains Gildarts' absence from nearly every arc. He's got a debilitating masturbation addiction.
So we had an actual good chapter, and the Softcore Porn chapter? Or "The Fairy Tail Classic."
There are few truths in this world, that is one of them.
Gildarts was just making sure that his daughter didn't show up in any of those magazines :ninja:
The face of the monster at the bottom left looks like Luffy to me for some reason. Coincidence or intentional?
I did like the chapter, but the first one was highly rated? It was fun enough, but I never considered it great. Well, next chapter, the plot continues, in search of the plot, with strengthened plot devices, and a more broken Erza.
It probably reminds you of Luffy because of the whole white-eye-wide-open-mouth thing
….actually now that I look at it upside down it does kinda have a resemblance to the face Luffy made when Ace died. Huh
The monster has no scar on its face. It's just your imagination.Jokes aside, what kind of 100-year/Multiple S quest is there left for Gildarts to challenge when FT itself always faces the most dangerous villains in the world every time? He might as well sit still in the guild hall while waiting for another villain to pop out rather than always absent to keep his "strongest" title intact.
If only Mashima's world building was better.

B-B-But Mashima is better then Oda cuz his manga won't be 32131 chapters and da wiminz fyte just as gud as da menz unlike One Piece where the girls are just use as fanservice to get sales, plus his characters have more depth than a quirky gag xddd
That sounds awful even as a joke .
To be fair to Mashima he does actually let his female characters fight instead of them just fading into the background when the real fights start. Also when they do fight they don't just fight other girls, step it up Oda.
I still have to see a female girl in OP winning like Erza…

Exactly. Like for example: Nami beats doflamingo…cause she's nami.

Women in OP fight and they've fought men more than women.

Erza always wins her fights with BS.
Recently, yes. Her fights were a lot better before, when she actually used those armors and weapons to get an edge in battle. Nowadays, you just know it's gonna be wide pants and boob bandages with katanas.
Well, everything was better before.
Who gives a shit if Erza can fight when she is a cliched men-acting female character ? Sorry but i would take Nami and Robin's character with no fights but actual personality and depth over this generic character any day .

I'm not saying I prefer Erza, but honestly, there isn't that much of a difference in personality and character depth between Erza and Strawhat girls. Oda is just a better writer. And female characters aren't exactly One Piece's strong point. Generally speaking, of course.
I just want the female characters we currently have, who are already capable of having fights to get them. Remember back in Fishman Island where we got a chapter full of double page spreads with all the Strawhat crew members finishing their respective fishman opponent. All the members except Nami and Robin. That shit shouldn't be happening.

Why? Why do they need to fight when their characters aren't build up to be fighters nor their roles in the story demands it ?
Erza is probably what Boa Hancock would have been if she were to join strawhats. She will always win because she's… beautiful.
That aside, I always think that the presence of love romance and actual canon pairings are the reasons why FT is so popular among young readers, male and female. Well, there's near-constant fanservice too, but that's probably not the main reason people read FT... right?

Yes female characters aren't Oda biggest strengths but that's not saying much considering that female characters in manga in general are garbage so…......... And even then Fairytail female characters ends up being one of the worst i have ever seen in mangas and i have seen shit load of bad / bland personality female characters .
Both Nami and Robin are identifiable and related-able characters . Compare to that hardly any Fairytail female characters have an identity and "personality" that isn't a directly ripped off from shonen female stereotypes .

From what i have seen in many forums and sites , yes many people only read FT for it's fanservice female characters .

@Mr:
We're not saying Nami and Robin are badly done characters or that we'd prefer the character Erza to them.
**All we're saying (or at least all I'm saying) is that we wish Oda would let the girls shine a little bit more when it comes to fights.
And that I personally want a female fighter that gets many fights**.
But that is what YOU want not exactly what Oda , the writer of the series , is going for ….........
Like i said Nami and Robin aren't build up in any way to be fighters . This is something what the fans constantly want Oda to do but not exactly what he is going for .
As for the other female characters in the series , i honestly couldn't care less .
@Mr:
Still it would be nice to see one of the ladies get into a rough physical fight. That or get a female character in the crew in the vein of Sanji or Zoro.
Way better written than anything in FT, of course. None of that "Because she's Erza" shit.
Yes totally. I think everybody wants that. Especially a strong female fighter or devil fruit user in the vein of the monster trio for the crew. Although I think next member will probably be male again. :(
It's a total sausage fest there, come on oda. xD
@Doffy.:
Why? Why do they need to fight when their characters aren't build up to be fighters nor their roles in the story demands it ?
I'd say they're built up to be fighters just as much as character like Chopper and Ussop, but those guys still get to fight. Nami and Robin are good characters but I just think Oda doesn't use them as much as other characters when it comes down to doing anything other than exposition dumps, they don't get as many chances to show their own resolve by doing something cool like taking a strong enemy 1 on 1.
@Mr:
**Well, just because Oda is the writer doesn't mean I'll accept everything he writes. I do think that's a weakness of his, not utilizing the females much for fights.
If you don't agree, fine. To each their own. I'm just expressing what I think.**
Nobody is saying that you have to agree with him but the fact remains that he didn't write Nami and Robin characters to be fighters contrary to what everyone here seems to be whining about .
And honestly i am surprised at how people here are like "ODA GIVE SOMEONE THAT HAS VAGINA AND BOOBS MORE FIGHTS " . Maybe people just want to see them fight because they have boobs and vagina but i don't really care .
The only good thing that comes out from Oda not fully utilizing his female characters in fights is that he's got no excuse to give them "wardrobe malfunction" during fight as joke/fanservice, which Mashima often does.
Even if women go full on fighting in one piece there is no ripping of clothes, fairy tail style.
Hey, clothes get ripped in real fights. Don't blame Mashima.
Hey, clothes get ripped in real fights. Don't blame Mashima.
That explains the clothing Mashima made his female characters wear. Usually, they're so skimpy that there's barely anything left to naturally rip (by movements), but they still get ripped anyway down to the undies through random methods.
Or maybe, Mashima is applying some ecchi game logic where lesser clothing equals more power in exchange for defense, or that girls will fight fiercer with less clothing due to blood rush out of embarrassment.
