@loneassassin:
The A's are idiots. They trying to go so top heavy with pitchers that they seem to forget who is going to get them runs, which was Josh Donaldson and, guess who, Yoenis Cespedes.
And the hilarious part is they give up a year plus of Cespedes when they could have gotten much more for him next year for just two months of Jon Lester, who may go back to the Red Sox after this season.
So basically the A's traded Cespedes for money and Johnny Gomes and the right to rent Lester like he was a video from Blockbuster.
Cannot wait to see them lose to the Tigers
@Crossword:
What the fuck are the Red Sox thinking, trading away their best pitcher at a time like this? I agree wholeheartedly right now with what my dad's been saying: that's not just putting up a white flag for the season, it's putting up a white flag for the next three years.
Wow you guys think the trade was bad for both sides, huh? I kinda think it was a good move for both.
Let's face it, the Red Sox weren't going anywhere this year. No chance. And if they had reason to believe that Lester wasn't going to resign with them after this year (and he did reject a very lucrative 4 year deal over the offseason) then what exactly is the point in keeping him? Might as well trade him and get something in return. I see it as a good move for the Sox. Cespedes will go nuts on the Green Monster.
From the A's perspective: Cespedes is only under contract for one more year after this one (and there's no way they can resign him after that) and it's not like he's the cornerstone of their offense. Recently they've played great in the regular season and have needed help in the playoffs. How do you win in the playoffs? A strong 3 or 4 man starting rotation. Well the A's now have an incredible 4 men rotation. Billy Beane is in "win-now" and he's gambling on winning it all this year. Not a bad bet, I think.
Edit: A's get Fuld back from Twins for Milone.
Edit 2: Cardinals are getting Lackey from Boston! Who will pitch!?
