Got a nice little explanation about the Oni's, and the Horse kick was awesome. It was awesome to see the effect of when a beast king actually fights. Looks like Toriko is already beat from that one attack. What I got Brunch "That's not a knife, this is" though it is more of a sword than knife, but awesome none the less. Zebra being Zebra was awesome. While a great chapter overall, I'm still disappointed by the last of Zebra and Brunch interactions.
Toriko II: Ichiryuu's Slimy Insides!!

-
So wait, the Blue demon burst from Torikos body, right? Its not Toriko himself that transformed, right?
-
It's not Toriko.
-
I thought the demon bursting out of Toriko was symbolic.
Toriko is now like Soundwave the transformer, he pulls shit from his insides to fight in his place.
-
Yeah, this is the full manifestation of (one of) his appetite devil(s).
-
Toriko is fully healed it would seem. Let's say that the devil needs to go back in. Place your bets: mouth or…. teehee.
-
@Daz:

Nop. This really happened:
http://i40.mangareader.net/toriko/286/toriko-5073859.jpgHence all the foot jokes last week.
Also, that was a pretty big emperor´s ring.
-
So did the blue oni just came out in order to land one hit, tank the allmighty heracles kick and insta-heal toriko? Did he go back by choice or because Toriko was unable to hold out any longer (too much strain on him)?
And I'm honestly curious how Komatsu is going to handle a 7m kitchen knife, the guy isn't exactly known for his raw strength.

Did you not read this and the previous chapter?
–> The Blue Oni came out on request of the Red Oni. He did not Insta-heal Toriko, the cure water did. Komatsu is not going to handle the kitchen knife, as Branch has already stated Komatsu won't be able to handle it.
Come on man.
-
Well, now I guess we're gonna have to kick out those foot puns
-
If you keep insisting inthese puns i will just assume you have a feetish.
-
So I was right. The blue demon, just like the red, is not Toriko's strength but just the physical manifestation of his appettites. Though since Cooking Fest we already know that someday, when Acacia's Full Course is gathered, Toriko will be granted the power to assimilate the Red Oni and fully use him.
And Heracles is… not impressed at all. This should be expected from one of the 8 kings.
-
I would have been so disappointed if Toriko Manhandled Fucking Heracles. Fuck.
-
@Daz:

Yes, its like when Red came out and punched through Starjun.
-
By the way, Herakick sounds so stupidly awesome cause it sounds so childish. It´s Like Bunji from Mainichi Kaasan came up with it. Shit.
-
Well at least the air sword is back.
-

haha, that was honestly my first though, too
it's kinda adorable, what I would call an attack as a kid -
Imagine a chef in a normal kitchen just chopping some onions with that knife and just knocking shit over everywhere
-
I kinda hope toriko keeps the black hair for a bit, dont know why but it looks a bit better in the artstyle.

this phrase could have been posted on /fit/

Been playing the Wind Waker and I just noticed that Link has black eyebrows…

So it's really Toriko's body that's fighting. The Blue Oni just took over.
And now Toriko's ligaments can stretch 100 yards and turn into a spike like gel.
Ok, why not?
-
I guess the Blue Oni is where Toriko's Fork and Knife moves originate, as it used a devilish version of the former.
-
Didn't Medora Demon manifest outside is bodywhen he shoot the meteore spice on earth?
-
Question is, did Midora's hair change color when the demon manifested? I don't remember it doing so.
Toriko's hair is changing back to its original black, which makes it seem like all of the "blue" appetite has left his body in the form of this creature. I'm guessing that he needs to continually release appetite energy in order to keep this creature alive and fighting, or at least under some form of control.

Come on man.
Well, I forgot about the healing water for a moment there. And I know the blue oni came out on request of the red one, the first question was actually meant to be more of a "So that's all he did? Come out to poke Heracles and scream around for a chapter?" rephrasing. Btw Branchi just stated that Komatsu "probably won't be able to handle this knife" and nothing more, but who else would be able to cook AIR? Komatsu might end up advising Branchi, but I think Food Luck is essential to the process and Komatsu has tons of it. So it will definitely be up to him in some way.
-
You guys Toriko has 3 scars and the close up made it look like one of them got longer. There's probably a green oni in there too.
-
The scars have been there since birth, but he acquired blue hair (and, presumably, the blue oni) later in life, right?
I think that Red's been there essentially forever, but that Blue came along when he was a child during the Gourmet Wars.
So I guess that I think it'd be weird for the three scars to symbolize three demons or something. Since he had them since birth or whatever.
-

Man is a fuckin condominium

@Venomous:
I had to look that up to get the meaning lol
so you see what I meant now?
-
What's the best Toriko arc in your opinion? I believe that it peaked at Ice Hell, everything after the mellowcolla arc just wasn't on its level for me.
-
Ice Hell, definitely. The Toriko vs Tommyrod fight is especially stellar.
-
Ice Hell was good, I liked Regal Mammoth as well. Introduction of autophagy as a power up seemed like a great idea to me.
-
Ice Hell was pretty sweet, but the one which Zebra was introduced was pretty good as well. I do hope it gets back to focusing on the crazy world, because the most recent stuff has shown a little bit of the craziness, but not much. Toriko always was great when it focused on the insane side of the world.
-
When I joined in it was the Mellow Cola arc, and that was pretty fun and endearing because of how batshit insane the series could get and fun even without the context of what a "GT Robo" was.

I feel once the conclusion of the human world stuff was coming to an end (the training, the beast king, and the whole cooking arc), things were boring for a while. I read all the way up to when they beat the beast, which was fine since it was a straight read, but then the tournament, which wasn't a tournament, was way to long and the only good parts was Jura coming in, Brunch, and the fight with the President. I really want it to go back to the craziness, which we saw what it could be like during the first chapter after the time skip, but we haven't really gotten it.

I feel like Shima's been trying to build up to a climax and really trying to set up for a more legitimate storyline than just random adventuring, but it doesn't really groove as much with his previous setup and doesn't reach the same heights the series does with the absolute chaos and insanity it reaches by just random adventuring all over the place.

Either from editors or someone else, he figured he needed to have a bit of a story. While he did have a build-up to an enemy, it felt like he could've gone with a organization that wants to take every ones food, and over time they would all be beaten from the random adventures. If we had just gotten various arcs with them fighting both creatures and the bad guys, it would've been fine. I don't feel like Shima has a knack for having a story, and since the beginning there wasn't a need for one, it seems like a mistake for doing it. At least it still has some good qualities, but it could be much better.
-
@The:

And what do you think Midora wants/wanted?
-
And what do you think Midora wants/wanted?
I meant just keep with simple organization with that motivation, and keep the relationship with the president and Jora, but that's about it. We didn't need a whole third organization, fight for the full course, and all that stuff. Toriko was best with simple story and over the top settings.
-
It was bound to happen. Since the arc where Toriko had that encounter with one of the Blue Nitro (because now we can tell for sure it was one of them) and that reaction of Ichiryuu upon being told, since that chapter Mitsutoshi had established the set up for what was coming. Sooner or later the plot had to became more intricated, same as it happened with One Piece after Logue Town. This is not just limited to shonen, it happens with every long story in a book.
-
New chapter is out
-
Chapter is out.
Damn, Toriko got owned again. Sniffing doesn't work? Ah well, I'll just inhale all the air around lol. Pure ownage, damn.
And Komatsu using the voice of ingredients is 1 thing, but I'm glad it's not all to it. Him being helped with the explanation of Melk makes it alot more believable that they will be able to cook it.
-
I'm happy the way things are going with Komatsu's side. I was really tedious about the whole situation.
-
I think everyone will be happy with the situation. Heracles will still be a beast even against the blue oni, air will stop the fight from happening, and we can see just how far they have to come in this story. That chapter cover was really cool as well.
-
Btw regardless if Blue Oni awakened for this extreme situation, iirc he had to eat that air fruit to manifest. As well as he stated that he eats different things from Red oni. In conclusion it seems that the air is one of things he eats and that's why I guess that after eating that air fruit Toriko will be able to use his Blue oni at will.

The blue oni is probably really picky, and uses up a lot more calories then the red oni, so that would be limited. Maybe the farther they get into the Gourmet world, the more foods available that the blue oni can use.
