Captain Hito and his crew are out on deck watching the calm seas when they see a marine ship quickly approaching… Captain Hito yells out commands to ready the cannons, but suddenly, everything around him starts to slow down until his ship isn't even moving on the ocean.

The marine ship passes by without a word, and then time returns back to normal.

Captain Hito doesn't feel good about that. A marine should always try to capture a pirate, but this time it didn't... Did the marines know that Captain Hito and his crew was too powerful? Or was it the other way around, and Captain Hito was so weak the marines didn't even bother.

Whatever it was, Hito knew another powerful Devil Fruit was in the hands of the marines and it would only get worse from there.

_"It's freaking cold," Randy said as the hapless pair trotted around the island. "I should shear you."

"Save it for a summer Island when I don't want this fur… could go for some rum... that'd do just the trick, I think I smell an inn... she's in there," Pinelark grunted. The two had come a long way after hearing their schooner scuttled. Pinelark morphed into full wolf as the building came into view. The two slipped into the door way, the wolf man hardly noticed due to other winter wolves being kept as pets on the cold island.

Perhaps the pale blonde woman didn't notice the large wolf curling up at legs, perhaps she did and chose to ignore it. Randy sat across from her.

"You wouldn't know any ship burners would you?"

The woman didn't even pause, "Plenty in these parts. Lumber makes fora good commodity around these parts, it's always cold. You wouldn't know any filthy pirates looking to get revenge?"

"No, but I do know a dog who's upset his favorite chew toy went down with the ship." Randy pointed down at her feet. Pinelark let off a low gutteral growl. That made the woman flinch noticeably.

"Well... looks like I owe you and your dog a ship."

"You owe me and my captain."

"Captain?" She asked. She fell back as the wolf slowly morphed around her.

"How do you do miss, you shouldn't have dropped that jerky, it was mighty tasty. Got any grog?"

The woman stared at the two men for awhile before collecting her thoughts, "Well aren't you two interesting. I'll get you a ship, but one condition. I'm coming with you. I've never met a man loyal to a wolf before, always the other way around here."

Renges stood on the porch just outside of the bar, looking out at the ocean. He always liked visiting summer islands, they always offered such beautiful vistas. The view almost took his mind off of the ruckus going on behind him. He heard the door open and turned to see Chaeffer walking out.

"We cleaned up good in there. You should have come get a piece."
"Nah, face to face confrontations aren't my thing."
Chaeffer smiled. "I guess that's why you're our sniper."

Walter came out of the bar next, lugging a huge sack over his shoulder, presumably confiscated berries. He was followed by Lynn.

"Quite an illegal trade outpost they had in there. Nothing that we couldn't handle though."
"I imagine you had them before they could even blink."

Lynn leaned against the railing, and held up something in her hand. Renges recognized what it was immediately.

"They had this in there too." Lynn said. "Certainly something we don't want in the hands of our enemies."
"So what are you gonna do with it?"
Lynn turned to look at the ocean. "What do you say we heat things up a bit?"
Renges turned his view to the ocean as well. The sun was beginning to set, with it's orange glow bouncing off the water. Certainly a peaceful, relaxing view.

Then he took the fruit.

Thanks! I saw the others doing it, it's really a fun way to invest in your crew a bit more when you try to write them. (And I've secretly been hoping to get recruit forever to get a girl on my crew. That's why that one was so particularly long. I do love the odd dynamic Randy and Pinelark have built up though.)

The three critter pirates lay sprawled on the rocks of autumn island. The orange and russet leaves twisted and turned in the evening bree...

"Wait. There is no breeze," said Ka'Na. She paused and peered into the tree line. She had good eyes maybe she could see what it was before the captain...

"Smells like a young girl, teenager tops probably 17 or 18," said the captain from his position with his hat rested on his head. Damnit, thought Ka'Na. She never seemed to be able to get one up on the wolf captain.

"Why do you always have to ruin…" Suddenly Pinelark sat straight up and his ears twitched. Ka'Na eyed him worried. "What is it?"

"She's not alone... somethings after her, come on! Randy get ready to grab the girl! They're going to be coming out of the tree line!"

"Shit, Pinelark I swear if you do something stupid," Ka'Na hissed.

Randy was the first to see them, a young dark skinned girl came tumbling from the underbrush. Behind her was the monstrous boar. Before Ka'Na could move Pinelark was on the boar, the two tore at eachother until the captain walked away. He moved towards the girl... and to Ka'Na's surprise the girl hissed at him. Then growled. Pinelark watched her closely, then morphed back into a wolf. He slowly trotted up to her, and she only barely flinched as put his head into her hands. She finally let go and buried her face in his fur.

"A girl who can't talk, a drunken wolf man, aren't they a sight," laughed Randy.

"Oh let em be, if you fought that boar you'd probably be wounded,"said Ka'Na drily.

"Oh snarky today aren't we spear lady."

Fudge is sweeping the deck when suddenly he notices a spot of weird, bubbling water ahead. As the ship gets closer, the bubbling turns into little whirpools that slowly fuse together into one big whirlpool. Fudge calls for his captain, but when Huon appears and shouts to Jimmy Beans to steer away from this strange phenomenon it's already too late and the whirpool has begun to pull the ship in. All five crewmates now gather on deck to watch what's going on, when suddenly a huge stream of water bursts from the center of the whirpool and shoots the ship up into the sky where it lands on what appears to be a big cloud…

"Where the hell are we...?" mutters Goldhand Jackson, still a little groggy after being knocked around the ship by the sudden acceleration.
He looks around to see his captain and crewmates all lying unconscious on deck. Earl Wheatstraw is the second to regain consciousness and unsteadily rise to his feet. The first thing he sees is a weird masked man jumping on board behind Jackson and aiming a spear at him.
"LOOK OUT! Behind you!" Wheatstraw shouts, as he jumps forward and quickly chops the spear in two and pierces the attacker's chest in one move.
Alerted by the old swordsman's warning cry, the rest of the crew now regains consciousness as well and find themselves in the middle of a battle... it appears the masked attacker was not alone and Jackson and Wheatstraw are busy holding off the rest of his group. As Huon, Fudge and Jimmy Beans join in, the battle is quickly decided in their favor and the marine crew finally gets some time to try to find out what on earth is actually going on...

"That's a mighty fine sword you got there, Earl!" says Jackson to the old man.
"Rapier! Not a sword, it's a rapier," Wheatstraw answers, "there's a big difference between the two. You see, a sword is…"
"Ah, nevermind, I'll believe you without an explanation," Jackson interrupts him, "I prefer fighting with guns anyway, although the hilt on that rapier of yours looks real neat with all those intricate carvings and..."

Jackson gets interrupted himself this time by a seemingly drunk man who approaches the ship wearing a hooded cloak.
"Viva la revolucion!" he shouts as he pulls out a gun and starts shooting. His aim is terrible however, and all his shots miss the ship by miles.

Fudge, who had been making some repairs to the ships hull, throws a hammer at the guy as soon as he comes within range, which knocks him out. The guy just lies there a few yards from the ship and Fudge looks up and asks "Should I grab him?"
However, before anyone can answer, some more men in cloaks appear and quickly take their friend with them, mumbling something about him always being drunk and spoiling their plans and secrets.

Surprised, confused and slightly amused by this strange episode, Huon and his crew look at eachother.
"I think those guys might have been revolutionaries." Jimmy Beans says.
"You may be right," Huon replies, "I think our superiors will be interested in hearing that they're up here in the sky... If we ever manage to get down and tell them, that is."

Upon landing on an island. The crew were out of food… Lincoln had eaten most of it after their first ever fight as a group against some pirate. He's excuse was "I need to regain my energy". Zaheen thought the island would be thriving in fruits and animals....Nothing, nil, zilch. Except for one piece of fruit that Narla had found and brought to the group. Zaheen didn't see it as fruit, to him it was a juicy leg of a boar and snatch it and gulped on it... Little to his knowledge it was a Devil Fruit. Narla and Lincoln looked shocked as they both slapped the Captain in the face to make spit it out. But as Zaheen went to block a small dark hole formed, which made Narla and Lincoln 'crap themselves' and bail back to the ship. Zaheen came aboard and finally calmed the two down and explain to him that he had just accidently swallowed a Devil fruit... The three then set sail, with the two other crewmates hoping the blackhole doesn't devour them in their sleep.

About the Nori Nori no Mi, I have to agree Omer. Even though we changed the Nori Nori no Mi to every other turn, it is still pretty powerful. Perhaps, if both of you agree, a once per day use of the Nori Nori fruit would be okay?

I've also changed a couple of other 'roll related' DF's to once per day.

Then they remember...They're Marines.... and one of them has a Logia devil fruit. Captain Zaheen laughs, trying to act confident. It doesn't work... The other two know they're doom without a handful of luck. Zaheen crosses his fingers as he get's closer to the pirate ship.

(Sorta hope someone else posted...preferably weaker. Otherwise Hito you should be able to beat that unless you roll like 50 ;) hahaha)

Hey guys, I was thinking about the PVP mechanic in general, and I think there might be a problem we need to fix.

Pirates can ONLY lose a crewmate against marines. If they end up fighting a pirate, the worst that happens is that their weakest char can't gain levels or contribute for 5 turns.

Marines HAVE to battle pirates every time, and if they lose, their weakest char goes to Impel Down.

Basically, when pirates roll PVP, they have a 1/2 chance of losing a crewmate depending on who their battling and if they lose. Marines have a 1/1 chance of losing a crewmate if they lose. It appears that this MIGHT be unfair towards marines.

One possible solution is to make it so that pirates can't fight pirates. It'll be solely pirates vs marines. This would greatly simplify things.

What do you guys think? Do you think a change needs to happen, or do you think there's nothing to worry about yet? I'll be glad to hear what you have to say.

I like the idea of characters getting hurt and not just going to ID every time you lose.
And you can leave it as it is with the pirate vs pirate/marine and marine vs pirate.

Turn #16 (Daily 1): 806 - Recruit

Another day on the opens seas. "Land spotted Captain!" shouts Bangers from the crows nest. Quickly Archibald brings out his looking glass and spies the island in the distance. It is tiny; surely it holds very little wealth or chance for adventure. He gives the signal to pass the island on by.

"Wait Captain," interrupts Mash, placing a hand on his shoulder. "My fruit tells me…...we should land on that island." Looking at her inquisitively for moment, he nods in agreement. Not one to doubt a member of his crew he gives the command to sail to the island.

Its even smaller than he expected. All that is there is a tiny shack. Or rather, the tiny remains of a shack. All that is left now are smoldering ruins. A group of thugs, probably pirates, stand laughing a short distance away. They surround a figure, it looks like a young girl. Tears streaming down her face she holds a sword in her hands, standing along against the whole group. A man steps forward, laughing and points a gun at the girl. He never gets a shot as a plume of white smoke collides into his face. The pirates turn as one and charge at the Merry Old Pirates in blind rage; the battle ends quickly.

"Its safe now," Archibald says softly, "I'm sorry those men did this to you." He turns to leave, telling his companions to leave the girl some supplies and a tiny boat.

"Wait," she cries out. "I don't have anywhere else to go....my family..." Her eyes dart to the remains of the shack and tears start flowing again. The captain pauses, looking at his crew. Mash gives a slight nod, goes over and takes the girl's hand and leads her to the ship.

How about this: Losing a PVP battle results in your weakest character being injured (not able to contribute to battles or gain levels for 5 turns).

If your weakest character is ALREADY injured, it goes to Impel Down/Hostaged.

How does that sound?

This is a good solution, but 50% seems high for ID. I think 650 might work a little better, making ID a 35% chance.

I would be okay with changing the Awa Awa no Mi to something else.

I just think the extra roll to see if a char is injured or go to Impel Down/Hostaged will slow things down a little. Instead, only injured characters can go to Impel Down/Hostaged.

This gives players a few extra turns to prepare for the next PVP, possibly even rolling Recruit/Impel Down to gain a weaker character to stop the threat of Impel Down/Hostaged.

I like this idea too. I think it should be between this and what I've posted above. It'll keep things moving fast.

I'd say it would be best to avoid things that make people make extra rolls to resolve something, since that would probably get really chaotic in the long run.

As for the marines can only pvp pirates, while pirates can pvp marines and pirates thing; I'd leave that as it is. Doesn't seem to be too much of a problem to me.

All the other things that have been proposed all seem fine with me :)

Another thing I was thinking about:

PVE gets really easy once your level goes up. People with a total lvl of 200 can roll 1 and still win a battle, and rolling 400 isn't too hard for them either.
Maybe it would be an idea to make a different set of PVE encounters for people above a certain level? It could be something like you need to make higher rolls to win a battle (at some point maybe even over 1000 (if your crew level is 800 or something and you add that to your roll, then a total result of 1500 wouldn't be uncommon)), but you'll also get more XP if you win (since +5 isn't really gonna matter much if all your characters are over lvl 100).

Still stuck in the sky, Huon has been working hard on finding a way to get back down to the sea. And not without success! Recently some friendly sky-locals have been coming to the ship to chat and hear news from below, and one of them told Huon that there’s actually a really simple way back down not too far from where they are now.

So, that’s where Huon’s crew is headed now. The ship has been repaired and the crew is in good spirits after this little unscheduled “vacation” and everything and everyone is ready to go back.

However, just as the ship is about to hit the road of clouds that will take them down to the sea, Huon’s crew is suddenly attacked by a group of men wearing cloaks. Apparently they are the same revolutionaries from before and now they’re trying to prevent Huon from getting back so that he can’t tell his superiors that the revolutionaries are active in the sky.

Refreshed as they are though, Huon and his crew are ready for battle and after a short but fierce fight the revolutionaries are defeated and the marines finally head back down to the sea.

I really like this idea.
But if the opposing crew level is much higher than you you don't really stand a chance, and that could be discouraging for early players.
Maybe if the initial roll, without the crew level is higher by X than your attacker, the weakest character goes to ID?
