I was seeing the anime when I decided to start again and read from the beginning the manga. I was probably catching up around chapter 660

For me the chapter where I caught up with the Japanese schedule was 423: Mermaid Legend. (It was also the first chapter of which I read spoilers and I remember laughing out loud when I saw the last page spread.) OP Wiki says that it was released in August 21st, 2006. Oh man… That was ten years ago... I feel old now...

Well I started watching with 4Kids, and I had some of the Viz volumes back then, but when I actually started reading One Piece consistently, had to have been around the end of Thriller Bark. I'm gonna say right about when Luffy beat Moria's Shadow Asgard

started 12 years ago. Ennies lobby?

I am not completely certain, but I think chapter 456, released on 21 May 2007, was the first "new" chapter I read. I had just caught up to the anime when Luffy beat Lucci, and I was craving more when I realised it was based off of the manga. Never looked back after that.

I watched the 4kids Dub back in the day and thought it was cool, but was really into Naruto. Naruto was the first anime I watched subbed and the first manga I read online. I remember the newest chapters would come out on some MSN group back in the day. In about 07 I was part of a Naruto forum and the One Piece thread they had blew up one day. It was the chapter where Zoro confronted Kuma and took all of Luffy's pain. I didn't want to spoil that part they were talking about so intensely for myself, so I read from chapter 1. By the Arlong confrontation I knew One Piece was something special and I was hooked. The first new chapter I read was Brook's flashback.

When did it surpass naruto IYO?

@Long:
When did it surpass naruto IYO?
I liked it more than Naruto as soon as I finished that binge read up till the end of Thriller bark. At that time, Naruto had been disappointing me with it's plot for a long time. One Piece was clearly superior to it at that point in time in my mind. I remember thinking that eventually, One Piece would probably drop off too.

mine was chapter 346, when the sh were being chased around by the water7 citizens.
I used to watch OP in the anime (alabasta arc) then I got hooked, so I searched for the manga online.
That time, I did not even know online manga viewers existed. I was getting my online weekly chapters from a yahoo group in which I forgot the name. I had to download it as I cannot view it online.Then I discovered onemanga.com and everything just went smooth from there.
