Yeah I can't stand Bryce Papenbrook at all. What a terrible choice.

Could have been worse. Could have been Vic Mignogna… We should count our blessings.

Lol I was literally going to throw up if it was him.
I like Bryce Papenbrook's voice but I don't know if it's really going to match up to Eren.
Right now the only voice I'm crazy in love with is Mikasa. Everyone else is kind of ehhhhh. May grow on me, may not. I like the actors, I just don't know if they were all best for the roles.
-
The Sungeki spinoff ain't half bad. I hope they play off the Annie making Mikasa jealous jokes. Fanart of that shit's the funniest.

Spolers.
! levi ackerman
This freaking series. I mean it was a theory, but not sure what to think. I guess depends on how it's handled and what's done with it.

! I've always wondered about his last name… but wait, there wasn't enough foreshadowing for that
-
! There were subtle sort of moments at the trial and in the forest that seemed kind of odd in how Levi sort of looked at her suspiciously, question is whether they actually have anything to do with this or not. The biggest question to me is that how it's relevant in the bigger picture of things. I suppose it could lead to some character development on Mikasa's part.

Hah hah hah… Not sure how I feel about this. Talk about left field.
-
I can't say I expected that.
-
im laughing at the random erwin fanservice
-
! I actually came across a theory that Levi and Mikasa are related a while ago. And it was right. Wow.
-
! I find it absolutely hilarious that the majority of the fandoms posts regarding the newest chapter are related to their main ship being incest or not incest. XD The Eren/Mikasa fans are celebrating and laughing coz obviously Levi/Mikasa fans gave them shit coz their ship was 'incest'. Now Levi/Mikasa fans of course are in a horrible situation coz their ship has appearently sunk …
Hopefully translations will be up soon so that we can finally start to discuss the story. ^^ -

What the..I definitely didn't expect this, came out of the blue for me.

Such a giant plot bomb in this chapter but I can't freak out over anything but that panel of Erwin fanservice. Yuuuum <3

Survey corps just got completely outplayed. Wonder what the relation between Levi/Mikasa/"Captain Ackerman" is.

Chapter up on MS: http://readms.com/r/attack_on_titan/56/2332/1
-
was Levi watching from behind the tree while Reeb and co. were killed or was it a random panel..?
-
I'd rather not have it be a blood relation. It's been done so many times, but I guess it's all in the execution. Liked the moment with Hanji and I've grown to like the merchant guy. It was nice of him to enourage Historia like that. The unexplained twists just keep piling up. All I hope is for logical explanation. It's been basically half a year of set up at this point, this better at least pay off in some bigger way.
-
^Has yet to be determined, but if I were to guess, I would say it was a random panel with implications that this relative of his is gonna go mess with him. Also, that kid with the slicked backed hair I feel is going to play his part in the story by telling the Levi corps what just happened.
-
the twist could bring Mikasa back to the spotlight in some way, there definitely could be some more character development/exploration for her, I feel she's one of the characters along with Eren and Connie that need more exploration. Levi hasn't had much backstory either.
I've seen theories like Levi dying while protecting Mikasa or alternatively Levi being a traitor(which could actually be pretty interesting). There's just so many possibilities, again, like with the basement and Titan mystery, too.
-
The art this week was cringe worthy.
-
I really feel bad for Historia. Instead of living free for herself, like she promised Ymir, she is forced to play another role she doesn't want.
Levi being a traitor would make for an interesting plot twist. -
The art this week was cringe worthy.
it has been going progressively downward for the last 10 or so chapters….
-
! Poor Reeves, I was a little fond of him. :( Interested to see what Frager will do now.
! Also as much as it would spell doom for the Scouting Legion, I'd be curious to see just how much Levi being a traitor would blow the fangirls' minds. -
I still think the first arc was the worst in terms of art.
-
-
The art looking like crap doesn't really add to my enjoyment of the story right now. While I was fond of it focusing on its politics side last month, I now would rather see some titans again.
Maybe I'll just put the manga on-hold and wait for the anime's season two in 2020.
-
Dat bottom panel.
!
This manga has finally revealed it's true purpose.!
-
I kind of expect Levi and Mikasa to be cousins if they actually are related (it's such a small world, literally, so that seems likely). Captain Ackerman is probably considerably older than Mikasa's dad would be. Mikasa and her parents also lived out in the country, away from the capital. Mikasa's dad could've been distancing his family away from life in the capital for a good reason. Captain Ackerman (if he is really his brother) seems like the kind of guy who would've retaliated against his brother by doing something like tipping off those traffickers that his brother's wife was Oriental and having them come after his family (and knowing they would've killed him, too).
But then Levi could've just been Captain Ackerman's protege.. but would he really have abandoned Levi in the slums? Is the No Regrets spin-off manga actually proper canon? Some people seem to be treating it that way, but I've wondered. It would seem silly though to publish it like it is if it really has nothing to do with proper canon it would be more like a doujin.
Wether it is or isn't…:
Levi being a traitor would make for an interesting plot twist.
Obviously Captain Ackerman exists to cut people, especially when they're traitors. I really don't think he would've let Levi live and just run off and join the Survey corps and plot against him. I don't think he would've referred to him as "his pride" if Levi indeed joined the survey corps to betray him. He raised up a killer for a reason. That seems to make this theory likely, though honestly I think that would suck ass. But then again, SNK wasn't meant to have a good ending anyway (and still might not), so it could very likely be that Levi is a traitor and he ends up killing (or being responsible) for the deaths of some of the survey corps and gets offed himself.
Or it could be Captain Ackerman's flaw that he just assumed Levi would be best served in another branch of the military where he could keep tabs on things, but Levi doesn't report to him honestly.
If Levi has been turning against everyone, I don't really see how this plan is go anywhere period, because it sounds like Levi tipping off the 1st MPs would likely lead to everyone's capture/death very shortly. Eren could still fuck shit up, but what purpose would he have if everyone else is killed before he can escape?
I don't want to believe that Levi is that shitty, and isn't going to betray everyone. I just really can't see how Captain Ackerman would've trained Levi and up and just let him go free, even if he is his legit son. It wouldn't be in his best interest to have a human weapon that would turn against him.

! Also as much as it would spell doom for the Scouting Legion, I'd be curious to see just how much Levi being a traitor would blow the fangirls' minds.I kind of liked him too. He thought he could compromise with Levi though so he may as well have worn a t-shirt that said DEAD on it. I saw it coming eventually. :(
What are you guys' thoughts on how Levi handled Historia? I see some people saying he didn't do anything wrong and that it was necessary considering the circumstances, while other folks are saying that he essentially used his authority to abuse her. Personally I think he went too far with the threats and manhandling. I get that Historia is an indecisive person, but I think he could have achieved compliance with less imposing methods. I wasn't expecting him to fly off the handle like that. Twas slightly jarring.
-
Yeah it was a little weird. I was expecting a bit of force like with Eren but not to that extent. Overall this whole thing after escaping just feels kinda weird. Probably the lack of titans I guess.
-
I also think Levi went too far. How he grabbed her by the collar and screamed at her… made me feel really uncomfortable.
The circumstances don't justify what he did, there was no reason to explode like that all of a sudden. Of course the whole operation depends on Historia, but there is no need to threaten to torture her!
Historia is not a self-confident person, she doesn't really know who she is - her whole life she was forced to play a role and not be herself. And now that she thought she could finally live for her own sake, she is forced to play another role. -
Levi was trying to make a point like in the situation with Eren, he also clearly went overboard with him, too. Did he really need to knock out his tooth even if he could regenerate? I think it's supposed to be uncomfortable like that because of Levi's violence, when even the characters point it out he's going too far.
-
But Levi being an asshole is nothing new. That's how he's been throughout the story.
I did find his treatment of Christa too harsh though.
-
Maybe Levi was slipped into the Survey Corps as a mole by his father/former teacher? For watching over Ervin. But since the arrival of his (maybe) cousin Mikasa he is in doubts with his fathers mission. One has to be betrayed by him. That's why he is upset and super-harsh to others. If he betrays his father and Historia fails to be useful as a ruler, he loses everything.

I would say yes, considering that they really needed to show that Levi could handle Eren for the excuse to put Eren into the Survey Corps' hands.
That said, yeah, there's always been other instances that he's been an asshole, so it's nothing new. But it definitely felt like he went a bit too far with Historia.

It's so hard to read a monthly manga and nobody understands.

Attack on Titan will premiere May 3rd @ 11:30 on Toonami.
Can't wait!

Is that the English-dub? For a second there I thought it was a second season and got excited!

The soundtrack is what made this episode great. It was so inappropriate yet it all went together so well. lol.

So something really edgy and dramatic and grand at the same time? Yeah, Sawano's soundtracks do kinda flow that way. Seconded. \o/

And Production I.G. should be the ones animating it. Yes please.
The OVA was random as fuck, but it still made me nearly tear up during some scenes. Must be that mindblowingly awesome soundtrack after all.
