Well, went to the midnite show…
not quite what I was expecting... I thought the first two were better.
I was also surprised that some characters weren't brought back, and the whole movie felt somewhat rushed, not to mention how many characters get killed off.
all in all it was fun to watch but meh
feel free to comment away
X3 X-Men: The Last Stand SPOILERS!
-
-
Going to see this movie this weekend. It's giving me the same feeling Pirates of the Carribbean 2 is giving me. I just have one question…Gambit?
-
No Gambit. And from what my friends tell me, this movie sucks.
-
The movie novel was awsome. And if it is correct, then Sam Gunthrie, Sage, Sunfire, Gambit, and Stephord Cuckoos all make tiny cameo appearances.
BUT PSYLOCKE!!!!
SpoilersThough cant believe the deaths of Xavier, Scott, and Jean. Plus Magneto and Mystique get cured!Spoilers
-
as a movie titles THE LAST STAND, what did everyone figure? That in the end everyone would make up and there would be peace. No war would exist what so ever? Sheesh I'm surprised that old Logan didn't die though. Seeing how the movies have mainly been around him and Rogue.
-
yup, no Gambit and for that matter, no nightcrawler either…
-
…aw come on dont mention the ending for them. Let them think something else!
Edit- Well the movie did omit the scene with Gambit...damn.
But the Cuckoos are still there! And there was one thing that made this movie so much better then ever-
"Im the Juggernaut bitch!"
Also to all those who see this, stay through the credits. Something important happens that is not in the novel...heh. -
@Aliaz:
No Gambit. And from what my friends tell me, this movie sucks.
My friends say alot of things. Most of the time they're wrong. Never trust the opinons of others to decide what to do.
-
How was Kelsey Grammar? I don't have much intention of seeing it (I haven't seen the first two), I'm just curious.
-
he played beast
in any case watch this before ou go see it trust me
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3934651591022114445
lots of cussing tho -
I saw this film today, I had mixed reactions about it. Thought some parts were good but others were a bit off putting. The amount of people that diead was a bit crazy..
! As well as Scott's death never being full understood. How 7 x-men managed to take on hundreds of mutants was kind of stupid. Although KG owned as Beast..
My friend told me something happened right at the end, after the credits so luckily I caught that. Took me a while to understand what actually happened though
-
avoids earlier posts until I see the movie
I just got out of Poseidon and there were guys dressed up as Wolverine and Professor X in the lobby. Can't wait to go see it~!
-
I was told that Juggy actually uses the line
I'm the JUGGERNAUT BITCH during it?
-
I was told that Juggy actually uses the line
I'm the JUGGERNAUT BITCH during it?
oh yes he does
the whole audience was laughing their ass off last nite! -
ok, I saw the movie but I didnt wait till after the Credits.
Could somebody use the! spoiler tags and tell me?
-
whoops didn't realise I made an error with the spoiler tag in my previous post, sorry if it spoilt anyone.
Demon Rin…! The scene cuts to a hospital bed, the same one you see in that video Professor X showed his class (the one with the brain dead dude). A nurse walks over to a monitor next to the guy's bed and you hear
'hello Moiyra(sp?)' in Xavier's voice
and then the nurse says 'Charles?'
END -
Went to the midnight showing as well. The movie was just decent as a whole, but there were some awesome moments here and there. I thought Kelsey Grammer pulled off Beast fairly well. Nightcrawler's presence in the movie was definitely missed.
Was I the only one that thought Famke Janssen looked beastly in this movie? WOOF
And how the hell was that Callisto? Unless it's some 'Ultimate' makeover, but still where's the eyepatch?
! Cyclops can't catch a break. I mean he's out of the picture for most of the 2nd movie and then supposedly DIES early in the third. We don't even get to see it. Haven't seen a gratuitous death that bad since Serenity.
! Seemed as though Callisto and Jean Grey were trying to fill some sort of void that Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch. I mean Callisto can't move fast and the Scarlet Witch is pretty damn powerful too
! I couldn't help but be reminded of End of Evangelion at the end of the movie when everyone's disintegrating, which is a bad memory especially to end the film. -
thank you bad-Beat
-
Damn, I missed the bonus clip at the end of the credits. From the way the ending and the bonus clip goes, expect X-4. There are some voids in the story line.
! Angel appeared for like 3 scenes? Magneto appeared to move his chess piece at the end? Prof was talking throught a different body? Where's Juggernaut?
-
odd? yes
I Just hope they go into the apocalypse arc for X-4 -
My friends say alot of things. Most of the time they're wrong. Never trust the opinons of others to decide what to do.
Well, we alla have similar taste in movies, and everything theyve said are valid points as to why I shouldnt see it, so Im gonna go out on a limb and trust my friends :P

According to Patrick Stewart if this movie does well then expect a sequal.
Plus two spinoff movies are being made- Wolverine(starring Hugh Jackman) and Magneto( starring Pat Stewart and Ian Mckellen). Heres hoping they fare better then Electra.
Edit- Calisto is supposed to fill Magnetos void after Mystique got cured. -
Hm….Then why was this movie called the LAST Stand? Ah well, hopefully the next movie will have the best X-Men character...Quicksilver! Forget Calisto, give Quicksilver his power.
Spoilers-
Also, on this movie, was anyone else dissapointed with the Juggernaut? Even though he didnt have his powers, he got knocked out...BY HITTING HIS HEAD. Its not like he is super weak without his powers, just look at how buff he is. Even normal people wont get knocked out by hitting thier head. And I dont think that he would team up with Magneto, I think that he is more of a solo person. But, this is probably the biggest dissapointment. WHY DIDNT XAVIOR RECOGNIZE HIM? He is his brother! Niether of them seemed to care about each other. He just rolled right past him in his wheel chair like he was just another thug. Ah well. Pretty good movie otherwise, even though they managed to create a lot of plot holes.
-
I thought it was okay. I mean, it just felt different and it didn't really appeal to me. I had high hopes for this movie too. I think the funniest thing that happened was
SPOILERSPOILERWhen Iceman was going against Pyro and he turned his body into ice; My friend yelled out "that's cold" at the part where he knocks him out. everyone around us laughed at that.SPOILER
-
Just got back from seeing it. It wasn't really bad, but about halfway through I realized I just didn't care what happened anymore. I don't think the director really knew what to do with the characters when they weren't fighting something, and I found myself going 'what?' a lot more than I should have been. Not because the plot confused me, but because people were doing or saying things that didn't seem in keeping with the previous two movies, or they just did or said something totally out of the blue for the moment just to fill in some scene from the comics.
! Like the scene when Scott finds Jean at the lake and she's miraculously alive and he's stunned and she's so happy to see him and then she suddenly wants to take off his glasses to see his eyes and he's okay with that. It was just like… what? Where the hell did that come from? I liked that scene in the comics because a lot had built up to it and it made sense, but here it's just like 'hey, I'm alive and finally out of that cocoon but you know I can totally control your eye-blasts now so take off your glasses'. And then she ate him, so what the hell was the damn point? What was the point of all the schedule juggling and negotiations to get James Marsden back in the picture only to not have him serve any point at all, even an emotional one? I don't get it!
! But there were so many moments like that in this movie, I just found my mind wandering as things were happening. I just stopped caring because I didn't have any emotional connection to anything there, all of it was severed when they stopped acting like real people and started acting like fanfiction characters who just do things because the writers needed something specific to happen or they wanted a particular nod to the comics to keep the nerdgeeks happy (which I don't think they did anyway, since I'm pretty damn disappointed).
! And I'm sorry, I didn't get the direness of the situation at the end. Yeah, the brotherhood was attacking a medical research facility on an island and the government was reacting like it was a full-scale global attack. Then Jean goes supernova at the end and everyone's freaking out 'cause she's wrecking the place. Okay, yeah, the people in the immediate area were in big trouble, but again, everyone was reacting like she was blowing up planets inhabited by asparagus people when she wasn't. Add the cheesy dialogue and lack of anything truly intelligent or at least emotionally resonant, and I found myself sort of waiting for the credits to roll. Which disappointed me a LOT. It wasn't terrible, there were some neat parts, but overall, I'd reccomend you catch it on cable or hit a dollar cinema. I went to a matinee and I sorta regret it.So yeah. Brian Singer, Superman better be frickin' amazing, that's all I have to say.
-
I was looking forward to the movie, but I haven't been very encouraged by what I've heard so far. I'll probably see it anyway.
-
I just dislike the pace that they removed the characters from the story. But I do agree with whoever said that the next is the Apocalypse story. They wouldn't introduce Angel for nothing now?
-
Went and saw it today, and I enjoyed it. I didn't catch like half the cameos, though. I saw so many names in the credits and was like "When did he/she appear?"
They definitely set things up for another movie, and I certainly wouldn't mind one. A lot of people are clamoring for Apocalypse, but I'd like to see Sinister show up…seems like he'd fit into the movies' overall storyline after this one, too.
-
the sad part aboot this movie is that if a sequel is made, which I doubt it won't by the talk from Hugh Jackman and etc, the plot is going to be so hard to place back together. Why not just keep with a simplfied comic book story like Spider Man 1 and 2, Daredevil, and the Punisher had?
Hopefully Ghost Rider will be alright, while my personal opinion is that Superman is a crappy character to begin with, so why continue making movies?
-
Went to see the movie with my friends yesterday. It was pretty good in my opinion. The fight scenes were awesome, the story was alright.
When it was over I forced my friends to sit through the credits to see the extra part. BUT when the credits finished…..nothing! The lights came on, the music started playing and the staff started cleaning.
One of my friends kicked me in the shins (I said he could if nothing happened) and slapped me on the back of my head. Suffice to say I was pissed off.
-
This movie was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. The sad thing is, I'm serious. I was literally laughing through most of it, whether because of the extreme out of characterness, the ridiculous "pasted on" romances, the so over the top death scenes…I just couldn't take it seriously. Maybe it's because I'm a fan of the comics, I've heard people who aren't say they liked the movie more. But the plot still seemed very contrived at times.
The end with Jean and Wolverine looked a lot like the end of Buffy season 6.
-
Meh - that's all i can say about this movie. The first two movies were great even with their flaws ( Sabertooth in the first one if you want an example) but this one … Characters were very much "Hi, I do cool stuff. BUT ONLY FOR THIS SCENE, then I vanish. If I don't DIE or get de-mutanted. (or both)" crazy. I bet ti would turn out better that this if they waited for Singer to do Superman and then return to make this.
Anyway i suppose it's a good action movie with stupid one liners and crappy dialogues and character stories that are none. -
Saw it, enjoyed it, and even though it has already been mentioned, I still can't get over Juggernaut's infamous line. Now, correct me if I'm simply an idiot, but since when was Juggernaut British?
-
Since the movie decided to make him British.
-
Or when did hitting your head against the wall kill you? Well Jean, I can destroy the world with a sneeze, Grey finished him off probably during the Island's molecule shedding.
-
Saw it in Vancouver. And yeeeahhh
! Xavier's not goin' anywhere, though who knows if it'll be Stewart in the role (fully) again.
I was rrarrrgh about how they handled Rogue (as I don't think she would've taken the cure, but then again movies != comics, but… aaagh !!), but seeing the chessboard at the end gives me a little twinge of hope for seeing a resurgance or something. Not much though, at least not in her case.
! Overall though, I'm just happy I got my Ice Out <3 -
ok my theory on the cure, on higher class mutants the cure will only dampen the mutant powers for a time being. That is probably what will be said in the fourth movie.
Hopefully Spider man 3 won't suck.
-
I thought Rogue did take the cure in the comics…
But anyway. I can't tell you how glad I am that there are mixed feelings about the movie in here, because I personally thought it was an utter dog, even though it had some fun scenes. Bad direction, really corny script, and terrible scoring in parts. I was really disappointed. Superman better be good or I'm going to shake my fist at Bryan Singer for leaving to do it!
-
I thought Rogue did take the cure in the comics…
Did she ? I know in something or other she doesn't (maybe I'm thinking of one of the adaptations)
-

Who knows, there are some many alternative realites in the Marvel universe that she could have taken the cure in the Ultimate, Normal, or other storylines. With the way the movie was though, I think that the script writer just made a crappy thrown together group of ideas.
-
I just got back from seeing it. I went with a bunch of friends, it was just awesome. We were all shouting lines from I'm the Juggernaut Bitch! We cheered when Jugs said it.
What made the night really was when we were sitting through the credits, and Dan (Usopp from Dub Piece) read names in the Usopp voice. Goddamn hysterical.
-

Well, yeah, he ain't Singer; I wasn't expecting a labor of love.
But overall the action was great – the movie doesn't disappoint in that regard (except for the wires. come on, TRON did the wires better !), but... it's a bit sour for me, having to dwell on it a couple days afterward. Maybe 'cause I didn't side with the X-Men on the issue for once  -
Just got back from seeing it. The f/x was good but the story was okay and was a little fast. It felt like a thirty minute episode stretched out. I give it 2 1/2 stars.
-
my question is this, In the comics and various shows. All the students that had some type of control over their powers would help out in the battles. So why does the big final battle in the movie only have six X-men in it? Hell there has to be like 100 students at the school, if at least 40 students have got some sort of mastery over their powers. Bring them into battle as well. Oh well, I'm thinking too hard and using real life conclusions for make belief events.
-
I'M DA JUGGERNAUT BITCH!!! SHUT DA FUCK UP CHARLES!!
I WILL BEAT DA SHIT OUTTA YOU CAHRLES, I WILL BEAT THE SHIT OUTAA YOU WITH CHARLES AS A MATTER OF FACT!!
That movie was awesome.
Tonight was also my 21st birthday so I am PLASTERED.
But hey, AWESOME MOVIE.
-
some parts were kool, but overall it was way to overhyped… archangel did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!! there were alot of stuff that happend which was too convenient... lyk some mutant can tell powerlevels and stuff, also the pyro/iceman fight was such a dbz rip off... all i can say is wolverine still rocks
-
It was a B- movie for me. My favorite part was "IM THE JUGGERNAUT BITCH!" So damn funny.

Well, with little miss Jean "I can make people explode!" Grey causing trouble, they seemed to be more or less expecting this to be a suicide mission. Wouldn't have been right to put a bunch of kids in harm's way. The whole ready/not ready thing seems to come up a lot in the comics, too.
That, and hey, they did pretty well with just the six of 'em.
-
The main thing that made me not enjoy the movie as much as I should have, was Wolverine. Yes,he's awesome, but not in this movie. He should have been Wolverine and not Cyclops. If you don't know what I'm talking about then: "Jean this, Jean that, Jean, Jean, Jean" Personally, I found that very annoying. Also, too much focus on kitty and iceman. And I don't give a crap about rogue unless shes out there owning stuff like she does in Marvel vs. Capcom 2.
Did anyone else catch a little error towardsthe end? I'll give you a hint, it involves magneto and the cure.
! He wears a metal suit. The needles wouldn't be able to pierce him
