@minus.:
OK, there is always the chance that this is a crazy inside joke I don't get.
But just in case you are not joking: WHAT THE HELL.
Did he hurt someone? When did this happen? I'm sorry you had to go through this and I am just happy you made it out!
We see this stuff happening in movies a thousand times but in real life this is a completely different experience. I hope everyone made it out safe…But I guess, you're right. It is a good idea to prepare for certain situations.
After I graduated I remained in touch with my favorite teacher via E-mail. The conversation came to school shootings and she told me that of course the staff tried to prepare for this. For example if there was an armed individual in the building a certain announcement would be made. Something like "The class on Old Greek literature has to be cancelled today. The next class will take place in the second floor".
The thing is, there was no Greek class offered in our school in the first place. Students would tune this out. But for teachers this was the code for "Worst case scenario, armed person in the second floor". With this the teachers could be made aware all at once, while the students remained calm.
Your concern is really really touching but it actually nothing actually happened, man I feel bad now.
"Anyway I had my escape route all planned out for how I'd escape if I was working when he finally came in with a sawn off shotgun and started shooting people."
That bold part was all the one conditional, as in I was planning for when he finally came and did it, not that he actually did come in and do it.
