It's the fandom that gets me about this. I overhead our sysadmin excitedly explaining about Flareon (False Prophet) to some colleagues today (didn't stop him blocking it at work, but I guess bandwidth is a legit concern).
I'm tempted now to leave drawings of a helix in various places with the word 'ANARCHY' underneath.

Yeah, it's definitely the community outside of the streams that really builds it up. You can watch the stream every once in awhile, but the big thing is more peoples' reactions to it. Couple that with celebration for even the simplest of normal tasks and you've got some really neat stuff produced.
Just don't invest too much time or thought into it.

Haha, yeah, I want to do the same, pretty much.
I was playing Binding of Isaac earlier and ran into a very bad and unpredictable item by the name of Anarchist Cookbook that spawns bombs everywhere completely randomly. Of course I grabbed it and started spawning bombs while screaming ANARCHY and praising the Helix Fossil. Needless to say, I died and blacked out after about three uses because most of the bombs landed in places where I couldn't dodge out of their radius, but it was totally worth it.

Or then he evolves and the learning process is canceled by someone pressing b at the opportune moment. Or worse yet, he learns Psychic, but gets it deleted by having a far inferior move taught over it. I think I'd cry.

The real enjoyment comes from trying and trying and finally succeeding in our way, and it doesn't need to be the most efficient way of doing things.
