Neither of the two fights were what I was expecting.
Cant say I liked the episode besides some moments here and there.

I appreciate the Transformers noise Nonon's suit makes.
And all these flashbacks make me hope Satsuki is going to get her shit ruined soon.
YES! I finally like that Sangestu is showing how much of a weapon it was created to become. Certianly absorbing all those life fibers from the clubs did help, so I can't see it's "asspulling". It's the natural pace of progression that is entirely unique to this show(sort of like Gurren when they made all these amazing things happen out of nothing and not thinking. Yeah there was Spiral Energy, but that was powered by emotions so it's all the same thing)
But yes! This was an incredibly entertaining episode. It's ranked with episode 3, 4 and 8. What I really liked(aside from Ryuuko spreading her moveset a bit more) is the music mixed in with the fighting. Also Nonon's transformation sequence with that cute marching band throwing all thier instruments. ALSO Mako and Gamagoori's fangirl battle. Shit, there's too much to like.
I have a feeling Nudist Beach is getting in the middle of Satsuki's fight to stop it.
I'll come out and say it I think Nudist Beach are the villains
Satsuki has gotten way too much background to just be the boring final boss
To be fair, Ryuuko hasn't had a real fight since her Elite Four beating, and she did show during the first round that she was attempting to mix up her moves a little by cutting up Sangetsu and using threads on her scissor. She didn't have the strength to pull them off with mastery, but it was still something. I'm sure she has a better hang at those now, and maybe even can pull some new stuff as well.
Reading my old post and then this episode makes me smile broadly. Sorry. I like gloating.
I like that Mako and Gamagoori seem to be a potential Thing.
This episode had their like, third or fourth noteworthy reaction together and being Ryuko and Satsuki's biggest fans respectively makes for a fun comradery.
Been waiting hard for more Nonon though since she was my possible favorite and she definitely is.
Mako x Gamagoori could not be any stronger this week.
! I'm just glad it's not Mako x Korra. And yay for Nonon and classical music–-it was funny when it kept playing through the transformation, lol.

Damn Hiroy, that was too accurate.

I am going to assume Satsuki's mother is the final villain based solely on the amazing music that played when she "appeared" for the first time.
Prediction: If Senketsu do take Matoi's mind Satsuki will be the one to save her.
So Senketsu is probably evolving faster because he ended absorving a lot of Life Fibers. I can accept this as the excuse for Ryuko getting stronger.
I knew all this was leading to something. Woah, Ryuuko. The OST and animation were particularly good this week.
Shit just got real :D, I think we were all expecting it though.
this week is the week of shit getting real.
Here's hoping that the nightmare Ryuko had in the beginning of ep 4 is not actual foreshadowing of things to come.
such a random way to reveal such a mystery behind a critical character motivation.
I liked the episode though even though kendo boy got trolled
I don't think she is the killer since she has a purple scissor instead of a blue one. She is probably messing with Ryuko.
Pretty good one, mainly once the majorette was deal with (there was some animation issues on that battle)
Satsuki's mother looks like the final boss from this episode, wasnt that a wardrobe full of kamuis?
Oh, and Sanageyama VS Ryuko facedown was just like the final scene of Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Ragyo looked really stunning. Impressed with her design.
Wow,holy freaking burritos!
That episode was incredibly intense, the OST and animation were handled well, and the reveal was good. I think this is my new favorite episode.
Really loved the track that played when Sana transformed. Is that like his third transformation theme? Funny to see it all end so unexpectedly for him.
Loved the rest of the battle with Nonon too. They pushed some crazy fast-paced angles there. The second phase was a little strange because my explanation made more sense. Ryuko used the power of white noise(it was visually like… white) to defeat obnoxiously loud music. I found that incredibly funny in my head. Even more than the explanation that only made sense to Mako and Gamagoori ("Ryuko became AWESOME!").
This episode made me wish I didn't look at the preview last week. I kinda saw this interruption coming and wished I didn't. It was still intense, but yeah. This week's preview was really damned vague, so I'm avoiding any extended preview if Trigger does reveal one. Gonna be interesting to see how Sangestsu works when he's under the influence of hot boiled rage induced blood if that's a thing.
Anyone notice Satsuki's mom has a 7-star scar? I wonder what it meaaaaaaaaaaaans.
!

Or that Nui Harime's fingernail spike thingy has 5 stars.

Oh and Nui's eyepatch katakana is a combination of ヌ and イ, which makes it nu and i.
!
Oh and Nui means embroidery/sewing. So deep man.
What if Ragyo
! is the woman Tsumugu was talking about?:ninja:
And Nui definitely pulled an Akuma on the match.
It's possible that we're seeing a transition from life fibers being infused in clothes to life fibers being directly infused into the person, it would definitely make for a stronger connection and it seems like a natural progression both with the rising power levels as well as the theme of believing in the power of your own body.
I like the new theory that Ryuko's memories are stitched fabrications due to a frame someone found.
!
I mean it's prolly nothing or just a production thing, but theories are fun with this show.

How about that, and here I thought her eye patch was just a random shape.
I honestly think the flashbacks show different figures every time because vauge memories tend to visualize themselves differently. Like, Ryuko probally had a different image of her dad's killer before she met Satsuki, thinking that she may have fitted the an obscure silhouette. Aside that, yeah. It's probably production inconsistencies.
I am so mad about Sangayama's fight being wrapped up like that.
But everything else was too awesome so I guess this episode was cool.
Nonon being such a sour loser and doing everything she can to win even though it was obvious even to her friend that she's going lose.
That girl trolling Ryouko and Sana just like that pissed me off, but it was meant to hype the fuck out of her, and it did pretty well in my opinion.
Sounds like my idea about Satuki's mother being the final boss is coming true, eh?
8/10
Would've been 10 if Sanageyama got to fight, even if it was for a little while.
That bit where Satsuki said "it's all up to you Matoi" intrigues me.
I do wonder if Satsuki has some hidden plot to get rid of her mother and Noi. It seems she could be using Matoi as a pawn.
Since Noi is the killer and not Satsuki, I think Satsuki and Matoi could team up to take down everyone else in that company. Sounds stupid and probably won't happen but it's just a feeling I have. Although using Matoi as a pawn would fit better.
^ Would you trust Nui's telling the truth?
It's just a gut feeling, but I don't think anything Nui says can be trusted yet. It's too straightforward at this stage, and having this revelation (subtle or not) when we're not even halfway makes me want to call RED HERRING!! And considering (1) the fact that Ryuko's memories have been shown to be vague, (2) that the other scissor's color changes from blue to red to purple, and (3) that the silhouette in the memories are more like Satsuki than Nui, there's the possibility it's all been fabricated and sewn together. And poor Satsuki may be the scapegoat/Lord Genome of the series.
…cough "sewn." "Nui" is an embroidery, a sewing. Cough cooooooooough.
I wouldn't really trust silhouettes in flashbacks as they could just be made to throw the viewer off or just be appropriate for the current situation (beforehand we thought Satsuki was the killer). Nui could be making things up, but who's to say she wasn't ordered to kill Ryuko's dad?
^ Which is what I'm saying, Ryuko's memories of the silhouette shouldn't be trusted since Nui's claims contradict it.
I have this to say about the latest episode:
That is one starched headband Sanageyama's got on
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Also, I really didn't get the tuning fork thing. I think it'd have been cooler if she rendered herself deaf or something to one up Sanageyama, but I guess it was Senketsu the sound was affecting so that wouldn't have made much sense either. Also, I like how she was getting hit by a catastrophic sound wave and yet they were all still conversing and delivering their lines at normal volume, lol
Hey, let's introduce this random never seen before character and have her replace Ryuko's opponent, a long hyped up established character with a personal agenda against Ryuko.
And let's make this random character be Ryuko's father's murderer and let's introduce that aspect at the very last second of the episode in a random off-hand manner to give the audience a severe tonal whiplash and make it impossible to emotionally connect with the situation. That's good writing!
And I don't care if the random offputness was the point, it doesn't work or at least for me it doesn't work.
The writing of this show has been getting really sloppy lately in my opinion.

Were there even many people who believed Satsuki would be the final opponent after the first two or three episodes? Her mom was hyped up earlier in another scene as well and it was always hinted that satsuki may be powerful, but not as powerful as others forces in this world.
Yeah its jsut you. Sorry man if you don't like it, guess you won't be enjoying the show again anytime soon. Sucks.

Yeah and Satsuki really didn't seem like a villain especially her motives where she's basically telling everyone to take what they want instead of waiting for the world to give them or because of the status of your family. She's actually kind of a revolutionary in the context of real life but we don't know how the world works to know if its the same for them but it does seem like the school itself is an experiment for Satsuki's grander ambitions.
I also think that this beat me and the elites was a way for satsuki to test her and in the end make her a partner in the revolution by maybe revealing who really killed her father and the why of it.

Is Satsuki's mom fighting Ryuko? I was talking about random loli character. I fully expected a twist halfway through where the game would change and we'd get our true villain. I don't have a problem with the story, it's the execution I take issue with. A little foreshadowing and better pacing of these twists would have gone a long way.
Honestly, I agree with TLC. I would have preferred it if we actually got the Sanageyama fight. The pacing was already too frenetic and now we had all this crammed in for the thrill/surprise factor
Nui was in the episode preview, so a lot people were ready for her to interrupt the fight and end up being the killer. Plus she didn't show up last second, she popped up throughout the episode and took up the last good chunk of time. The real complaint should be that she's the cute and utterly evil type which is way too obvious and one of the worst archetypes. But she creatively breaks the fourth wall so she gets a pass from me.
Sanageyama's fight wont be much interesting, given the previous fights with the elite four. So far Ryuko was winning all her matches by making Senketsu evolve in wacky ways and catching her rivals off guard (after a one sided battle where she performed her usual punching bag role)
Nui will either destroy completely Ryuko or make her take things seriously for once, which is a good thing.

So why not have made the Elite Four fights less overall lame, instead of relying on a random superpowerful intruder to up the tension
More comments to look back and laugh at as the series goes on.
Thinking about it, I kinda have the feeling that Nui might not be the real killer and she just has the scissorblade. She's just riling Ryuuko up, looks like she succeeded pretty well, too judging by the preview.

Maybe they were made lame on purpose to increase the tension when a new enemy appears.
After all Houka and Nonon fights were nothing but a joke IMO.

Previews don't count as foreshadowing since, you know, they're not actually part of the story.
I like the new villain but it doesn't change the fact that her implementation into the story was handled pretty poorly.
Personally, and this is just how I would do things not how they should have written it, but personally I'd have paced this development over two episodes. Introduce this character walking to the arena in the first episode. Shorten Jakazure's fight (the Encore was completely unnecessary and dragged out the fight) and dedicate the episode to Sangeyama vs Ryuko. Then mystery girl can pop up to interrupt them at the end and next episode can focus on this new character, flesh out the reveal more so it has some actual dramatic significance and not just haphazardly thrown in at the last second for the sake of a cheap cliffhanger.
The main problem with the show is the frenetic pacing. They should really slow the fuck down and flesh out their story more.

So the fights were INTENTIONALLY lame?? Like, what even was the point of the Elite 4 if they were gonna bite the dust so perfunctorily?

Pretty much my thoughts exactly
I don't know about you guys but I think the tension would have been upped more if the Elite Four were actually competent, powerful characters rather than lame jokes. Would have given their subsequent asskicking by these new guys some more gravitas.
It's pretty much just character introductions. The fights clearly aren't meant to be that important with everything that's lurking in the background, especially supported by the fact that Ryuuko's curbstomping them with no problem and only with Senketsu's help.

The whole hullabaloo felt like a waste of time.
@Thousand:
Reason: And cut out the unfunny comic relief that does nothing but waste precious time.
Alright, what you're saying with the pacing thing with Nui sounds fair, now expand on this bit.
The whole hullabaloo felt like a waste of time.
There seems to be a pretty obvious point to all of those fights. Senketsu's evloving too fast and that'll probably lead to whatever happens next episode. That bullet was ominious, too. I think it's going to be something along the lines that Senketsu's going to be destroyed and Ryuuko has to grow stronger on her own. All of her fights with the elite 4 seem sort of an unsatisfactory victory because of her reliance on Senketsu. I feel like that's why Sanageyama was defeated like that.
What's up with you guys having problems with this anime, it was like that from very beginning, a gag anime with some vague parts as excuses to make it look like it makes sense.
