History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi

You just repeated yourself.

Newest chapter is out. Despite Miu still doing her beached whale impersonation I actually felt a bit moved.

What a sad twist. Makes me wonder if he's crazy.
-
Okay, okay, okay…
CLEARLY when Ogata kicked the phone, was damaged and interrupted the service. Not sure why Kenichi is freaking out over that. Or that's one way to interpret this scene. Minus the cynicism, I'm surprised things got this dark. Ogata is an evil jerk sure, but up until this point his M.O has been driving others to death. I really want to know what happened.
Funny thing about Miu, last chapter I was really pissed that she was still being put in all these ridiculous and forced fanservice angles despite being paralyzed, but this week I feel different. I actually want to see how creative he can get with this. I love seeing people make the most with a limited concept. How far and Miu contort herself while giving semi-useless plot exposition? Let's wait and see.
-
Wow i actually felt pretty bad for Tanaka there.
Man that's one sad twist indeed…
-
I wasnt expecting History Strongest Kenichi going Session 9 on me.
Lame salary man turning out to be insane over the death of his wife is a great turn of events. Let's hope the author doesnt chicken out in the end like the infamous cannibal feast on Toriko.

_< Damn you just had to remind me of session 9 lol.
I don't see the author shying away from what he's hinted at. Strongest Disciple Kenichi isn't Toriko anyways.
-
Holy damn what a twist…didnt expect this to turn so dark. Tanaka has bee portrayed since D of D as submissive businessman husband who adores his wife, instead he has been pretending whole time and his wife has been possible killed by Kensei long time ago.
This serie can suprise hell out of you when you least expect it.
-
Oh man…that twist fucking hurt. When this series is on its game, it can really pull the heart strings.
-
Or having the king survive an avalanche. That was week writing.
-
@Mr.:
Or having the king survive an avalanche. That was week writing.
That's commonly called "to pull a Pell".
-
Apachai vs Agaard fight. Remember that one? The way Matsuena has written its ending served as a solid proof of what his drama is worth.
Not that I didn't love it. Just don't expect Kenichi to be what it isn't.
-
I said "oh fuck" out loud.
and I wasn't really bothered about Apachai not dying. it would have been like when they killed off Chewbacca - it served no actual story purposes, and just made me pissed at the writers.
-
wow so his wife been dead. that was unexpected took me a while till i read this thread to realize that. and miu you can get out of that position any time showing your boobs and what not. sometimes the fanservice is just no need in scenes like these
-
And wow. A twist within a twist?
-
Good thing Matsuena didnt go back on his promise.
(I swear that if the wife is alive at the end I'll buy a plane ticket to Japan, track the author and slap him in the face XD)
-
Wow, it's getting really intense. Is Kenichi a bit slow here, asking WHAT DO YOU MEAN???
-
Umm they said that she was pregnant last chapter, so the child dying was pretty much implied.
Also i hate when a chapter ends in the middle of an attack.

And unfortunately it's the norm here on HSDK

Question for the Japanese members like Aohige: When they have a character who is said to be pregnant, they still depict the women as flat stomached and thin. Are they not allowed to show actual pregnancy in Shonen?

I was about to say I know I've seen pregnant characters before then I realized I couldn't recall for sure in Shonen. I thought Ace's mother was shown that way but they seemed to skip over it even though she held Ace in for extra time… -_- which is dumb on it's own.
So now I'm a bit curious about this lol.

Don't know what other manga you have in mind that would bring up enough of a discrepancy for you to ask this.
I mean here, she could have just been in her first few months.I was about to say I know I've seen pregnant characters before then I realized I couldn't recall for sure in Shonen. I would be surprised if there are enough pregnant characters in shonen that you would need more than 2 hands to count them.
I mean just think what shonen is generally about and then how pregnancy would fit into all that, in my eyes not very well but then I haven't read every shonen ever so there is that. -

The response is simple, No. In Naruto you was shown Kushina, Naruto Mom, and Kurenai with a huge belly. The reason for the majority being still flat stomached and thin is because they're at the beginning of pregnancy.

And that's why Kensei is a likeable character.
-
This is making kensei less hateable. if thats possible. He loves martials arts purely like I do. If he weren't so damn evil his disiples would last longer.
-
I don't think that him truly loving martial art was ever in doubt. The problem is when you would do ANYTHING to learn and master your field.
He is no different than those mad scientists in WWII that would sacrifice anything and everything in the name of science.

Exactly, "the ends justify the means" is the worst kind of evil that there is. For me Kensei is not better than Junazard, for example.
You can see this kind of mindset among many japanese mangakas, but I dont agree with it.
-
I liked Kensei anyways cause I usually like villains more than the heroes. Of course I feel bad for people that get caught up in his crazy, but I didn't hate him before.
I do kind of have to wonder about a mother that fights someone while pregnant. Because it really seemed like she could have lived if she didn't attack him first if I didn't read that wrong. I get grief and stuff at losing her father but usually someone that knew they were pregnant wouldn't risk their baby like that. -
HOLY SHIT!!!
This series…motherfucker...
-
Just so i don't have to type the same thing.
HOLY SHIT!!!
That was as brutal as it gets, screw the Agaard vs Apachai.
-
HOLY SHIT!!!
I had to type it out cause quoting is not enough.I..omg…I was not expecting that last bout of attacks..Wow. Okay I need to re-read this chapter a couple more times. That was the most awesome thing I've seen in months!
-
It just hurts to see that after all that he's still the one getting taken down.
-
…I dont think much more needs to be said about this chapter. I look forward to any twists next week, after this a ton of things can go right storywise.
I am left to wonder about Berserker though. We keep getting reminded he's here but he hasn't done anything yet. Is this coincidence or is he an X-factor?
-
Berserker is just like everyone, he's getting distracted by the fight.
-
It hurts with just seeing it. His head, split up like a watermelon.
-
see, this is why I read kenichi. when it's good, it's damn good.
-
Still with that editor's message and with what happened to apachai, there's a tiny chance that something else happened.
Even if the whole setup heavily implies that his head just went splorch.
-
see, this is why I read kenichi. when it's good, it's damn good.
That's what I said last week, when this series is on its A game. It's phenomenal. Those last bout of attacks were brutal. Punching through your own hand, trying to bite off the jugular, getting elbow smashed in the head. Absolutely brutal.
-
this was the most exciting chapter to read in a long time. I mean bout damn time someone move Miu so we could lessen the fan service a little. But seeing kenichi grab miu like that on page 11 was nice since he wouldn't
regularly get to do that.Man I knew Tanaka was gonna do something crazy but man. That was just WOW. and it still ended up that way at the end. Great chapter

Chapter's out! http://www.mangapanda.com/historys-strongest-disciple-kenichi/525
Who's betting on Ryuuto joining the protagonists now?
-
Man, that was sad but the whole thing made me satisfied with the arc even if we didn't get to see a lot.
-
Tjat ending was nicely done. Very touching. Now I want to see the rage reaction of the masters.
-
Erm…Thats it?
! What an anticlimactic ending for Tanaka. The fight barely started, and yet he is dead after so much hype. What was the point of him then? "Revenge is bad" aesop? There is something that doesn't click with me in this whole resolution.

How could you call what he did anti-climatic? His end actually happened last chapter. Yeah he didn't do much to Kensei but he went out awesomely. How is not punching through your own hand to blind your opponent and bite the jugular going out anti-climatically?
I'm alright with the fight being fairly short. He's pretty much a third tier character, the story isn't really about him. I think it was more building up for Kensei and how Kenichi views him more than anything else.
-
I thought the end was perfect. It was a story of tragedy and regret. A man loses everything he has including his sanity and dedicates his life to revenge by sacrificing everything he stood for and even after all that, could not get the revenge he so desired because of the harsh truth of reality that he just wasn't strong enough. Yeah, it was fast paced but the execution of it was perfect, we didn't need any more than that. Now for the delicious aftermath.

Chapter is out: http://mangastream.com/read/hsdk/68319977/1
…and damn, those last 3 pages had me holding back tears
-
Good chapter.Had Drama , action and funny stuff and fanservice in it :D
-
Well, I'm curious about where the story goes from here. Someone's dead, the disciples were attacked, and the masters completely failed to save the day. Now I thought there would do this in the last two arcs, but the team needs to step up their game against Yami. Kenichi, Miu, and the like have crossed paths with the masters too many times now.
-

Well, because.
! He should have done a lot more, with how he was portrayed. Tanaka is insane and vengeful, yet he was supposed to represent danger and wrongness of ever-consuming hate. It fell flat at the last moment, cause he hesitated to kill Kensei and struggled to stay on light side. And then it fell flat again. cause without killing intent he failed to do any significant damage. He is there to indirectly to teach Kenichi a lesson, but ultimately fails. If you let hatred control you - you'll betray everything you stand for now. But if you resist - you'll die and evil will triumph. So lesson doesn't really work as well, cause it has no third option.
! In the end all it does - hypes Kensei up even more as some kind of strongest invincible god, yet he can't be strongest in Yami (arguably Saiga is). Right now Kensei is a lot like Law(or at least many arguments against characters are the same). He is strong, nobody can do anything to him except ocassional punch, and everything happens according to his obscure plans. IMHO fight should have been longer, and Kensei should have been at least moderately wounded. That would gave him chance to recover and improve, and it would gave Tanaka better closure. After all he spent years training to defeat his sworn enemy, and barely scrached him in the end. -
Well, because.
! Argument why Tanaka vs Kensei was anti-climatic
You're forgetting a simple fact! Tanaka was a newly made Master, while Kensei was a master a long time ago, before he killed Tanaka wife and master. If Yami and Kenichi masters can fodderize other master levels, why wouldn't Kensei fodderize a newly Master Tanaka? He's one of the strongest Yami members.
Why do you think Kensei wasn't really fighting until Tanaka got killing intent? Do you think he would do the same with one of Riyozanpaku? Of course NO! Simply put Kensei would never loose against current Tanaka and he could easily fodderize him if he wanted, Apachai Style.
that shows the respect he have for other people determination, has shown many times.
