These are really cool, I like what you've done with the Valkyrie character especially. Great colors and fun design. Although I haven't played those games I don't really mind the adjustments you made to the legs. To be honest I think the original legs on the official design look a bit ridiculous.

but still… I like the chubbier version better. The thinner one does not give her physique any justice(especially since she jumps really high and puts alot of energy into attacks and stuff.).
My sketch main intent was to try simplifying the details on the outfit, and of course... the presentation art shows the most details. I'll draw her again after doing more princesses. Maybe with feautues like Fionna from Adventure Time.
I was thinking of drawing some Adventure Time princesses, maybe a Mushroom Kingdom princess, and one Disney princess(because's there's so many).

Also, some rough pen sketches. These are just models I'm going to use whenever I start comics again. Which should be really soon! I'm looking to get a job and hopefully get started on it when I do. That way I can take care of myself and work in solitude on the comic until I have 3 full chapters. I've written out enough stories to last a good while and the only challenge I have is well… coloring and remaining consistent. Also... staying the hell away from my Tumblr dashboard, browzing pixv, and AP. It's amazing what one can do in 20 minutes, and wasting time "gathering inspiration" is really just time wasting :T

Below here is Cutler, Richter and Kendra. I think I talked about them being in some kind of band a long time ago, but never really drew them in a scene before… so I sketched that out. Richter was supposed to have an electric guitar, but I got carried away and liked the shape of the autistic one better :T

There will be some height variety. Definately. The only one that did change was Tia's overall height. I've decided to make her 8 or 9 years old whenever I start the comic again rather than 10. Mainly because I have a huge cast of other characters that I never really planned to put in, and I figured it would be fun to vary the ages/sizes and relationships with those. That, and her age was supposed to be used in a joke that I've long scrapped… so, I don't really have much a reason to keep that age gap anymore.

Richter was always kind of inconsistent, and I was never really final on his design, despite him being a one number older than Evi(Evi is in her late 7s, and Richter is 8). It always kind of bothered me how large I use to draw him. He was really around Dab's size, and I kind of always pictured her taller than everyone in the main roster by a large margin(she's 8, but is as tall as a 12 year old... which is around Zick's size, who is going to be 13). So in the end, I shortened Richter to be a tiny bit taller than the other kids his age.

But yeah. I'm planning on expanding the character sheet a bit(I need to add Liu, Dab, Zick, Fria and A.King and several Bright Light students that's going to be appearing in the first few chapters). It just takes a really long time to make them since there's alot of measuring the stuff. I feel kinda bad that I keep redoing the sheets, but I'm really satisfied with this drawing style the best.

Liu, ~~Todd~~ Red and Sandy. Sandy is sort of random, and I always enjoy her design. I picture her as a digger who is very single minded and straightforward. Also forgetful and not very smart. She digs deep holes in sandboxes and finds tunnels, mines, caves, and burried ruins with monsters and legendary treasures. The mole is wearing a fadora, but he does not know he's wearing one becuase he's blind. Sandy thought he was a pig and decided to take it home to the farm that she thought he came from.

As for why Todd is here, he fell into a hole and broke his leg. Sandy thought the only reason he broke his leg was because he was not wearing a helmet, so she tries to retrace her steps to a location where she found a spare helmet somewhere… but it goes nowhere since she's forgetful... and the fact that none of this matters because Todd just wants to go home or to a hospital or something.

With this, I have a good rough estimate of my character's sizes and how tall or short characters of a certain age are. Whenever I start comics again, it would be useful.

Since I've gotten moments where people discuss my notes on Skype chats upon reading them here, I'd include some. Ignore if you aren't interested.

Mal is one of those characters that started out with a design I was never really satisfied with until now, especially given that his personality and story was just too interesting. I describe him as a complete psychopath who is great at computer programming with incredibly destructive class of ESP abilities(even though it's not really ESP). I figured I gave him an obnoxious design and I really like it. The cape, the glasses, the pants… wait. Pants? He's obsessed with the idea of being a supervillian, so his attire was alot worse than this when he was a smaller kid. Before he'd run around in his briefs while wearing a cooking pot on his head. And maybe something cliche like a towel for a cape. It sounds harmless, but he use to threaten other kids into being his horses. No, not to ride! What kind of villain rides a horse? He straps them unto a grocery kart and rides it like a chariot into battle with random people ___ Anyway, he's one of Bright Light's veterans and is an important asset... But he's also mentally unstable and impossible to control.

Jo is another character I drew alot of. I mentioned her dressing like Japanese schoolgirl in a school with no dress-code as a disguise. I also mentioned that she's horrible at keeping secrets, thus rendering her disguise and her alias as a Bright Light secret agent useless. She has a habbit of blurting out confidential information and then immediately trying to cover up that she did. She's also incredibly athletic to the point she runs on walls and platforms across huge buildings. So yeah, she's one of my favorites to write. Recently I added a little more to her story and it's heartwarming and very sad. First and foremost, she was raised as Principal A.King's daughter and she loves him and her role as a Bright Light member a whole lot. Secondly there's a whole lot she does not know about A.King, and also herself before she was adopted by A.King. Lastly Syn was one of her first friends at the school, and as small as a detail it may be, this and along with the other things I mentioned plays a vital role in the plot I'm planning. In other words, she's like the main character of the Bright Light kids, and it's supposed to be a more tragic contrast of Syn's character.(she looks up to Syn despite being obviously more talented ans gifted)

So yeah, I'm looking forward to writing more.

To be fair, it did take me a while to finish as I been sitting on it for several weeks due to laziness. My attention span is probably no better than yours.

And hey look. Practice with MangaStudio. There's alot of experiments I want to do with the software, so I'll be putting all my focus on it for a while.
That's assuming La-Mulana does not eat away my time when it's released on Steam tommorow. Or if I'm called for a job interview next week.

you would not regret it. also there is an anime OVA/anime movie coming out. I was sort of confused about it cuz I thought they were the same thing, but evidently there are two anime OVA DVDs that come with manga volumes 8 and 9, and the movie just came out in Japan. this is the first OVA:

Hehe. Glad you liked it. Sai does not need shoes. She's like the happy go-lucky hippie of the group and sings us songs about peace, angst teens covered in their blood and all that good stuff.
I was definitely thinking about that gator from Nichijou while drawing this one. I was also thinking of one from MLP as far as colors go, but I don't quite remember.
But, mainly I was thinking of this one but I never really looked back to reference it.

That's one of the Strong World animals within the official art book for the movie(bad webcam pic, but whtevs). It's one of my favorites.

oooh, now I really need to hurry up and watch Strong World! I mean, sure, badass giant guns are pretty neat, but land gators with rolled tails? you got me sold. They remind me of those divan chairs. I'm such a sucker for them (edit: the crocs not divans). And really, I watched Animal Planet when I was little, so I've always had some kind of fascination and (thanks to my dad's terrible influence) a fear of alligators and crocs.

I don't think the animals play much a good role in the movie. I mean… I have not seen the movie since I'm waiting for the Funimation dub of it, but I assume that the movie wasn't mainly about a wild adventure while sightseeing a platora of wonderful creatures(being shonen, I kinda doubt it). Maybe I'm wrong, but the artbook is definitely worth a look at. There's about 61 unique creature designs in there o_o I think there might be some scans of it somewhere in AP's archives as I remember Alina or someone else scanning their book.

Suzy's voice is perfect,it sounds familiar though. She definitely seemed the most "witchy" though.
Which leads me to them mentioning the main girl not being of witch blood family. How does a human make it to that academy?

It does not take very long to get there either. Just a few pages into Chapter 1 and you'll be greeted with color. But yeah. There's a ton of expressions. Be it in the face, the way the characters move, the variety in designs, and the abolute witty sense of humor(I don't get all the jokes, but there's so many that I don't have to). I honestly got more than I bargained for when the author of Cuccumber Quest(another good comic) pointed it to me. It's an excellent comic.

And thanks! I wish I knew how the paint without relying much on a linear pattern. I got a coloring style down for sure, but I don't spend too much time learning how to paint a variety of shapes under different light setups. And that involves realism studies. I just don't have the time or the patience to put a week into practicing it T_T There's just so much opther things I'd rather study.
