Try it, it's still my favourite after playing GB3 and GBRUSH, it's the game with most playable characters and the stages are very big. The endings are also the best for me.
And by the way, GBRUSH is NOT GB4 as you said before.
Thank you for the recommendation.
But Rush can be considered GB4, just under a bit of a different name.
Just like if there is another one, it can be considered GB5. No that's not the title, but it can be considered that. For example I doubt there will ever be a game named ""One Piece Grand Battle 4" I think they have retired the number naming…..so they called it Rush. But that's just my take on it, I never said that was the official name GB4. heh
To Luffy.D.Ace:
That's a pretty good name. :)
It seemed like GB: Special Edition to me. "GB4" is reserved for the badass Water Seven game that I've no doubt will be released around the arc's end. But the problem is: will it be for the next gen?
Well, I guess we all have a different take on it. heh
Indeed, it may possibly be for the PS3 and REV, since the EL ark is just strarting and will take a bit long to finish. Would you like it to be Next Gen?
I wouldn't. It doesn't need such a powerful system and I don't want to buy a new expensive console yet…
Unlike the previous games, "Rush" wasn't based on an arc (or multiple arcs), it was based on the whole series, but the themes are from DBF.

I see what you mean.

I agree on the topic of Grand Battle games. But who knows what kind of games they could come up with for a PlayStation3. Personally I´m dreaming for a improved Round the Land sequel.
Not that it wasn´t good, it´s still my favorite OP game so far. But still it was a 2D plattformer. I mean it looked as if it was three dimensional but you could just go back and forth and up and down. You couldn´t escape to the sides (unless of course you entered through a door but that´s not what I meant).
I dream of a Round the Land game in which you could move your characters like in Grand Battle. But by then it would be more of a Zelda-esque either way.
I´m brabbling again. Point is that probably the first PS3 games won´t be much of an improvement over PS2 games. But at the point where One Piece maybe has ended they should have worked out to make decent PS3 OP games and then a Round the Land sequel like I described could become reality. Yeah I know I´m dreaming but I said it right away. I want to play Franky in Round the Land damnit!
So what new moves are you guys/gals eager to see in the next installment?
For me it's in-game "Gomu Gomu No Cannon" and "Rashomon"

Nitpick.
Cannon is in rush.
Nitpick.
Cannon is in rush.
Hehe, I know.
It's a part of Afro Luffy's 2nd level super.
What I want is in-game Cannon, I forgot to put that in there.
I edited it in sorry.
So, what moves would you and everyone else like to see?
First, they'd BETTER put in Sogeking, or there is no justice. I could see Lucchi in there, with Kaku, Kalifia, and Blueno as partners. Whoever the next SH is will be in there. Luffy will have gear 2 like Zoro has that power-up in Rush. Enies Lobby could be a stage, along with possibly W7 or the Sea Train. Nami would have the Perfect Clima-Tact, and that's all I can think of.
Also, does anyoe know the trick behind Ussop's Impact Super? Thanks
Those are some good suggestions.
If I am understanding you right you are talking about in Rush right?
If so, hold the L2 button and double tap X and hold it. Ussop will pull out the dial and hold it out for a short while. When your opponent hits you the dial will absorb the hits, when you see it being absorb immediately hit the Traingle button. This will send your opponent flying.
Sorry if this is not what you meant. heh
But I hope it helps.
You can do that?! Holy shit… Do know the buttons for the gc version.
Indeed you can.
Lets see, the the GC version. It should work for the GC version too.
But I am not too sure what the button combination is for the GC versions specials.
But if you tell what the button combination is for the regular impact attack is I can tell you how to do it.
But from reading the GC versions FAQ. It might be:
Hold L, then double tap A and hold it.
Then you will absorb the attack, then hit Y.
That should work.
Thanks! I knew it had to work like a dial in some way : D
Your welcome.
I felt the same way before I found out it's secret.
It can really help in a pinch. heh
Enjoy :D
Still really confused and don't want to read all 29 pages of this thread to get the answer… but is the US PS2 version One Piece Grand Battle the same as rush? If so, does it feature Japanese voices? Did they totally butcher it in the American version? Need answers~ Thanks.
US Grand Battle took out Enel, Foxy and AoKiji, the Arc Maxim stage, the 5 wise men from the marine hq stage and every special attack pos-Arabasta, Robin is Miss AllSunday in the game, they replaced the Davy Back Fight minigame with Usopp Pirates' minigames, replaced the trading cards with anime screencaps, changed the way you unlock certain things and it uses the dub voices.
Indeed you can.

More crazy special attack tips like this:
For Usopp's Impact Dial, you don't have to use the charged energy right away. You can absorb several attacks, then a small red poof will come out telling you the dial is fully charged. Hurts a TON this way.
For Luffy's L+A+B special, mash B throughout the special to make him punch more at the end. Same goes for Kuro and Zoro, and maybe some more I forgot about.
Finally, for Don Kreig's MH5 special, when the bomb is in the air press a button (X on the Gamecube, maybe? Can't remember.) and the bomb will explode in mid-air, sending shurikens flying straight down. This one can get to be pretty amusing.
I wouldn't. It doesn't need such a powerful system and I don't want to buy a new expensive console yet…
Same Here ^^
Just bought it… and I'm gonna sell it. Obviously hasn't been used that much, and while not a bad game... if you've played the U.S. version it's not different enough to validate the purchase.
I'm looking to trade for Naruto GNT3 (I'd say 4, but being honest, I don't think that'd be a fair exchange.) Bleach DS orJump Superstars would be nice too, but again I doubt someone would commit to the exchange...
COWMAKAZE, Crocodile does it too, along with one of Chopper's attacks, more can be added to Nico Robin's (I think), and most of Eneru's normal attacks are homing and can be charged, as well as more to his Amal super.

Yeah, man!!! I'm seriously considering getting it now.
How is Red haired Shanks Skills and moves in Grand Battle Rush? Is he powerful enough to take on Ener?
Phenomenol: One cool thing about GB:R is no character is much much better than any other. The only exception I can think of is Mihawk, and maybe Aokiji if you want to get technical. Shanks and Enel are just as strong as one another, so they can take each other on. Shanks's skills are odd in the game, though, and may take a short period of time to get used to - lots of bouncing around (like one attack where he vaults off the opponent's head). However, his best special is the easiest in the entire game to hit with, in my opinion.
And thanks, ybmc, for the tips.
Somebody knows if it will run on my european gamecube ?
And if not, what do I need ?
Thanx
You need a freeloader

Almost all the specials in the game are easy to hit
Shank's special can become a pain in the ass since it has a 60% chance of hitting you.

Are we talking about the same thing ? I meant that if you're playing as Shanks it is easy to connect the special. I've always found Luffy's ridiculously hard to hit with because he takes forever to launch himself. Against other humans it's difficult, anyway. Sanji and Chopper have somewhat easy ones, I'll submit, but with Shanks he just launches himself forward really fast like a buzzsaw. His is probably the easiest to hit with, followed by Aokiji, Kuro, and maybe Mr. 2.

The word's not even pissed… I picked it up for 60 bucks used (with Freeloader) and PA sells it for 45? Still good for those who don't have it yet...
Well I bought it when it came out… so I am not that pissed. It has been out for about a year now.

I think many characters are cheap…
Mihawk is good, but he's not very good if your opponent is smart... (i.e. not AI) Same with Shanks...
Aokiji... he freezes with many moves, and does tons of damage. his level 2 special connects with ease and his support is great.
One of Enel's supers... stinks, and his support is trash, but he's very cheap. He can also auto-revive himself to half-health and Overlimit, right? Annoying. >_o (Or was that GB3?)

The auto-aim and jumping ones are best against people… And long time taking ones are bad against AI... (Luffy, Robin...)
I found Mr. 2 and Smoker's really hard to connect... o_O Maybe I aim inthe wrong direction...
uh, everybody can overlimit, and that's GB3. Mr. 2 Bon Kurei's attack is kinda hard, but Smoker's really easy, as YOU control the direction he moves, so it's like homing, except more responsive. At least for me, anyway. Eneru's special is so tough to connect, though. I seriously hit someone with it, but they moved out of the way halfway through, so it didn't work (and I don't even know how that happened, either.)

Well Luffy's special requires timing & a bit of precision (like almost all the other specials) to hit. Anyway Shanks special can be a pain in the ass since it's so easy to get hit by it.The most difficult special in this game to hit is Mihawk.
One of Enel's supers… stinks, and his support is trash, but he's very cheap. He can also auto-revive himself to half-health and Overlimit, right? Annoying. >_o (Or was that GB3?)
That's from GB3, i've never seen him doing that in RUSH, and I think he could only do that when the CPU uses him in Hard or Super Hard difficulty.
But can't all specials be blocked? That sorta eases the defense against them.
almost all specials can be blocked; Smoker's seems to be the only exception so far (the diamonds act like swords for Supers and specials, so you can't block those)
I always thought Bon Kurei's was easy to hit with just because he twirled to the side first, so your opponent would try to attack you and get a fceful of Okama Kenpo.
I completely forgot about Smoker's - yeah, he basically wins in the best special department. Good for him, because most of his combos are terrible.
Then there are the weird ones, like Robin (who's is good because you can stter it, but not great) and Foxy, who I can oinly manage to connect with by technicality (he whips the Noro Noro Beam Sword and hits the person next to him, for example)
What are Shanks supers?
How does he fight?
Is Shanks really that strong like the anime hypes him up to be?

Supers:
(GC) A,A: Lots of rapis sword slashes, shen seathes sword (Around 400).
A,B Blitzes from side to side, slashing, second to last runs stuns for finale (Around 480).
X,X,A Whirls around spinnging his swors, very easy to hit with. When startes, lots of fancy sword moves. After 3,2,1 Sails into Fusia Village and slashes the ground, knocking the enemy skyward.
Style: Relies mainly on his sword, with a fair amound of jumping in attacks.
He's quite powerful when you see how to use him. (He lives up to the hype)
Also, with Ao Kiji, after doing a combo (A,A,A) and holding A, when the frost comes out, is it anything special, or just to look cool?

No, I was talking about Enel's special Overlimit…
I found Smoker's easier than Bon Clay's, because Bon Clay's needs you to connect with his tiny fist... >_> And Smoker has a huge cloud.
And yeah, that thing connects so weird... >_o

The twirl makes it hard… Because you spin out of the way...
I personally like Smoker. Ignore my title. >_> He also has this super cheap move where he turns into smoke (nothing hurts him) and he grabs when the smoke touches the enemy.
You can steer Robin's?! o_O I have to try that.
And Foxy's... weird. It can be used from long away and behind the mast in Baratie... It also goes in a straight line (after he swings it, and the swings count, too...), so it's not hard... >_>
And you can avoid specials also be jumping or running out of the way, giving you an opening!

special overlimit? you must be talking about GB3. Not sure about that combo, but the a, a, x combo followed with his l+ a, x super does tons of damage if you mash the x button repeatedly. And not sure if anyone noticed, but Foxy's r+a+x combo noronoro beams items. Can anyone shed some light on his Noro Noro beam special? It doesn't seem to do all that much, and it makes me suspicious…
It stops your enemy for 5-10 seconds (it's a countdown from 5 but each number lasts more than a second), you can hit them all you want, they'll receive all the damage when the time is over.
Quick Question:
Is it possible to use any of Luffy's other costumes to perform his Afro Luffy secret attack, or is it exclusive to that costume?
