A question to those who ordered ALTER Amane Suzuha.
Her price is similar to POP Neo Maximum Kid and on the same scale. So why don't we complain about her price but did it for Kid? Because of the bike? :pWell for me it's easy … it's ALTER. ^^'' I love all of my Alter figures. POPs are great too but it's not the same level of awesomeness .. somehow. XD Dunno how to explain. Yeah Kid has that cool arm but goddamn it look at that bike! LOOK AT IT! __ If it even makes my bf feel like he needs it .. and he doesn't like my figures .. well he does like my sexy ladies haha than it has to be really awesome. I just feel that Alter's stuff is really worth the money they ask for it. :) I'd glady throw them my money.
Oh btw, glad you already found the other Tekken designs by Shunya. :) I really like them and hopefully they'll all be made into figures! :3
Finally got my Rei (Yamato's version) today! :D She is awesome! Juhuu~ I also managed to order Yamato's Asuka at Mandarake today. :3 Really .. great day! Hopefully that continues and I'll get my Celty tomorrow!

2 figures from earlier, one is a "topless woman", I got charged customs for this and two other packages that I wasn't expecting to recently, that really puts me off ordering figures all together, paying an extra £50 on top of what I've already paid.

Alter's stuff is really worth the money. Like that ALTAIR Natsume figure, it's above 20,000 JPY already (for used figure). I wish they would re-release him.
This Suzuha is as epic as the GSC Saber-Bike though it's much more simpler. The bike details are astonishing.
If we display this figure, I'm sure it would be the center of attention for every visitors regardless of their knowledge about the character.–- Update From New Post Merge ---

That's so true. -____- I'm really glad that there are still shops which have no problem with lowering the item value and gift-marking. It's still a gamble though. I dunno why but some shops seem to be better at that than others. Some Mandarake stores for example .. if I order from Shibuya it'll definately get caught by customs even though they undervalue and gift-mark. Don't have that problem with Nakano or Umeda store. That's another reason why I love Anime-Export. I never have to pay customs, NEVER. :) But I really can't remember how it was with Big in Japan. Guess I'll have to wait and see. :)

Pfftt tell me about it :\ And the limit being 22€, its barely enough to cover any kind of shipping, not even counting the price for the figure. I cant risk big boxes like Pop's, GLM etc are already big enough to pass unnoticed sometimes :)
Moving on, does anyone read Vagabond here? Its superb.. started reading it a few weeks ago, i am totally hooked! There are some old square enix statues but nothing very good looking. Untill i found this, look at this fantastic custom of Miyamoto Musashi using a hot hoys body and alot of skill:

I got my first Play Arts Kai today - Mass Effect 3 Commander Shepard & Garrus. I passed on Ashley since I pretty much can't stand her and she's long dead in my version of Mass Effect anyway…plus these things are too damn expensive to be buying characters I don't like.
Anyway, here are some pics and my mini-review...I suck at taking pictures so don't expect miracles. Plus I'm too lazy to take pictures of the boxes and the accessories I didn't use.
First up is Shepard. Right off the bat, he doesn't look as good as the prerelease pictures, but on the other hand he looks much better than the terrible photos at AmiAmi. His face still isn't great though. Looks a little bit like the default BroShep, but a bit tanner with younger/sharper features. I know PAK isn't known for their great faces but still it would be nice if it was up to the quality standard of the body.
Shep's body/armor is the best part, perfectly detailed and realistically textured. This kind of armor works great for action figures since you can hardly notice the joints. It's decently poseable but I've always been pretty terrible at getting action figures to do what I want and this is no exception. His accessories are ok (heavy pistol, assault rifle, omni-blade), very nicely detailed, but like every action figure I've ever had it's practically impossible to get this guy to hold onto a gun properly.

Next is Garrus, probably one of the most popular ME characters, appearing in all 3 games. I always preferred Wrex in the first game but in 2 & 3 Garrus was my guy. Comparing the two, he's easily better than Shepard simply because his face actually looks like it's supposed to (scaly space monster, basically.) Once again the details of the armor are ridiculously good, he really looks like he just stepped out of the game. He comes with a sniper rifle and an assault rifle, but everybody knows sniping is more awesome.The big problem is, it's crazy hard to get him to stand, mostly because of his species' weird legs/feet which are accurately represented. In fact I still haven't really perfected it and he's already taken a couple of hard falls. Aside from that I have no complaints, a near-perfect figure (and quite a bit taller than Shepard too.)

The price for these two together was ¥10,960 or ~$143 with shipping included. By far the most expensive figures I've bought in quite some time, but as a huge Mass Effect fan I had to have them. The price is still kind of tough to swallow but they really are great figures (and quite a bit bigger than I expected) so I have no regrets. I'm definitely getting Tali later this year and I really hope they make more characters like Wrex or Mordin.
I also have PAK Solid Snake on the way from Mandarake, if he's as good as these I'll be thrilled.

I'm looking forward to recieving my Shep and Garrus. Shep's face sure is horrible, I mean he looks nothing like default Shep period. He almost looks black, his face skin tone is much darker then his neck. Its just weird looking and I wish they had made his armor more black instead of silver.
Garrus looks pretty good all around. I'm thinking I'm going to regret buying Shep when i receive him. I just can't get past how poor his head sculpt is.

It's a bit crummy but it is one of those things that looks a LOT worse in a closeup photo than it does in real life. When I saw those photos on Ami I was mortified (seriously, what the hell is that lump under his eye?) but in person it's not so bad. That's not to say I'm happy about it, but finished product looking crappier than the prototype is nothing new. As for his armor, it's really not silver, that's just from my camera flash.
For what it's worth, you can probably resell the thing for more than what you paid for it if you decide you don't like it.

I am happy that were recieving Mass Effect figures from Play Arts, Tali from the the next release will probaly be nice since she has only a visor but I bet she will be even worse at standing then Garrus. Don't they come with a stand of some sort though?
Just wish they were alittle cheaper, PAKs keep going up in price as time goes on, $50 used to be the standard price. Then $55, $60 and now $65+ heh.

I've had my Mass Effect PAK for a while now. They're the first PAK I've ever gotten too. I haven't opened them and not sure if I will at this stage.
Shepard has indeed got a terrible head. Wrong skin tone and weird darkening around the eyes. Ashley has the same eye problem, but it's actually a lot better and at least resembles her a bit. Garrus is the best. While I don't particularly like the look of his skin, it at least looks like him. All three look a lot better in person than all those store photos which are really pretty bad. I also wish Shepard came with a helmet to hide his mug. :P
I think Tali will be the best of the current lot, followed by Garrus. I don't think PAK come with a base or stand. Which is funny, as usually you don't want bases as they take too much room. In this case, they sure are needed of they can't stand up right. If I do open them, I might consider repainting Shepard's and Ash's faces to look better.

I really don't think you can compare DPCF to Tsume releases since it's just a different type all in all… Personally I don't like Tsume sculpts and their painting jobs at all...

That DPCF Naruto [kiddie version] is great. Somehow I don't like Naruto after time skip.

I think PAK MGS is one of the better PAK. The face is spot on especially at Naked Snake. -

Shep's armor is well done though the colouring is a gunmetal colour. A darker shiny grey instead of black but I can live with that. They come with no stand. Garrus is insanely awesome, they did a very good job on him. Love the weapons.
My only other gripe is the velcro flap box window, I display alot of my figures in the box and with packaging like that you can't even see the figure unless you leave the flap open 24/7. I greatly prefer the old window box packaging but I guess that isn't expensive/fancy enough looking heh.

Naruto figure looks great! except for the ugly pole! Maybe some cotton balls will do the trick to make the cloud effect

I think PAK MGS is one of the better PAK. The face is spot on especially at Naked Snake.Well it took a few more days than I expected (stupid SAL registered, requiring signature…) but Snake is here. Couldn't take many pics, camera battery is dead, but I managed one good closeup of his face at least. I think it's great, pretty close to his appearance in the codec calls.
Just 4000 yen from Mandarake - listed as opened / box damaged but I'm 99% sure it was brand new with no damage. He is a lot more flexible than the Mass Effect ones, and it's very easy to make him stand up. Great details, nice sense of texture, and I love how you can rotate the bandana to give that blowing-in-the-wind effect. I wasn't going to get Gray Fox but at this point, if I see one for sale I probably won't be able to resist.

I got my Altair Shizuo Heiwajima today! Haven't taken pictures of it yet, but boy, the quality is fantastic. Not a single scratch or smudge, and the face is perfect. I have two Altair figures, Natsume and Shizuo, and they are seriously awesome.
Sometimes I wonder why I buy Megahouse when their QC is not good and yet their prices are higher… -

yeah the face is as "detailed" as his CODEC version… :p Of course not as good as Naked Snake. Actually they can sculpt the face based on MGS4 Solid Snake mask. It would be perfect then. Yeah Alter quality control is the best out there. Megahouse have some disappointed QC even on the expensive POP figures.

Alter has this laid back, subtle style that suits me while GSC sometimes is over the top, and has very ambitious sculpting. Compare the GSC Saber-bike and Alter Suzuha-bike and we'll see the different styles.It's nice that Alter has decided to sculpt more male figures in ALTAIR line. I'm looking forward to their next Durarara!!! figures. Have ordered all three in a week. :)
