Hall of Fame weekend is 3 weeks away, Drew Brees has signed with the Saints, and 2 groups of Rookies are halfway through their first full off season. A brand new NFL season is just around the corner, and I figure it's time to get some discussion and predictions going!

For the poll I picked those I thought were the biggest contenders.
If I left off your team, make your case!

I'm just going get this out of the way: I'm a die hard Charger fan. Have been all my life, and I will passionately argue for hours about anything concerning them. So if I start going overboard let me know!

So, people, my vote is obvious, but who's going to win it all this year?

I love the Chargers, and I think this could be the year they actually do it. They got the Wide-outs they actually need, Mathews had a great second half of the season last year.

As long as the Chargers can prevent a mid-season chokeout, they have a chance. (Please don't do that again, guys.)

I think the 49ers, Saints, Giants, Packers, Lions, and Falcons make the playoffs in the NFC, and the Texans, Chargers, Patriots, Ravens, Broncos, and Bengals make it from the AFC.

Thing about the Giants is, if they make the playoffs they are clearly the most dangerous clutch performing team around, but, they have to make the playoffs first and the NFC East is a division that just about any of the teams can win.

Anyway, might as well put this here. These are probably completely wrong, but if they're right then I'll have self justification to gloat about my football knowledge for years to come~

Didn't do a homer pick and went with the 49ers this season. Bears organization and Matt Forte should be close to a long term deal. He's a major part of this offense.

I'm just surprised they didn't sign him to a huge deal immediately. It would be a huge loss if they don't keep Forte

Ladies and Gentlemen, it is finally here. Today marks the start of Hall of Fame weekend. Tomorrow is the enshrinement ceremony, and Sunday is the first game of football since February.

Thee offseason is over.

And yes, it's just preseason though, but it's football, and preseason football is better than no football.
Besides for the first time in a while I will anxiously be watching every Charger preseason game to see how this newly built team will come together. There are a lot of new guys on offense and defense, and I'm really hoping they click.

So, will anyone else be watching the weekends festivities?

Mathews broke his clavical on his very first carry? That's not a good sign. Garrard will miss most of the preseason too, among a few other injuries. It was a pretty rough first night considering almost nobody gets much playing time in the first game.

Everything went wrong at the worst possible time for the Packers last year. I have them bouncing back this year and getting back to the Super Bowl. I think Cobb will turn absolutely lethal this year, and that offense will become even scarier with Jennings, Nelson, and Finley still there to catch passes. I'm not so sure about the Benson pickup though. The Packers used to rarely deal in free agency, but this year they seem to have opened the floodgates.

Am I the only football fan who doesn't care for preseason? It doesn't really prove anything since neither team is going all out and the stats don't mean anything. Even though Luck did good, we've seen teams and players do great in preseason then become busts. That said Packers and if not them then the Falcons!

Sweet, that's 7. One more and we're good to go, and of course, even more are welcome! I'm actually about to draft for one of my other leagues (with an AP league I'll be participating in 6 this year! Most I've ever done is 3… it's gonna be crazy fun) and once I'm done, I'll get to setting up a league.

Head to head vs points (I almost always do head to head)
Playoff schedule (I hate it when the final falls on week 17 when a bunch of stars get rested)
Roster size (# of QB's/defenses specifically, flex options, etc, let's avoid the ultra insane like IDP please, a buddy got me to do one league with 0 bench spots, oye)
Scoring (PPR? Defense yards allowed? Return yards? etc)

I could talk about all of it at length, but I'm guessing you were just going to go with the default settings for the last three.

And yes Sano, it should be free.

Yeah, no worries. There are pay leagues too, in which most of the money is redistributed back to the winner(s). The ones that the websites handle tend to keep a single person's entry fee for themselves and redistribute the rest. The pay leagues I do are just with friends, so we handle the money ourselves so that none of it is wasted.

In this case, though, it's almost certain that we'd do an entirely free league.

Time- I'm not busy, so the busy people decide.

I prefer a snake draft style. Auction drafts aren't my thing really.

Yeah I always seem to get screwed by people resting in the playoffs, so I wouldn't mind the playoffs being a bit earlier. If not, well I can handle it lol

Roster size- no real preference.

Scoring- same thing. Default works.

I'm flexible on it all though.

Yeah, it's going to be free. An the settings will be simple. I'll post em up here in a few so we can all come to a consensus.

Basics: Snake Draft, Head to Head, Simple Roster– 1 possible flex no IDP. Standard scoring.

Thanks for confirming it, Nex. For me I'm pretty much free most of the day, since I'm not doing much. Unless, I go out and hang out with friends.

I'm just ready for the NFL Season to start already. Since, I been watching the preseason games on the NFL Network. All I can say Week 1 is going to be hard for me, since my two favorite teams playing each other with the Rams Vs. Lions.

Yahoo's funny like that. The invitation link is different and it's what's sent to emails you put in.

As for the settings. I don't usually play with divisions since I never really understood it, but I don't suppose it matters all that much. As for scoring, QB's and defenses are set up to score huge amounts of points. Typically it's 4 points per passing TD, 25 passing yards per point, rather than 6 and 20. I don't remember the specifics about points allowed for defenses, but it looks like it's approximately double what I'm used to. Finally the yardage bonuses are all cumulative. So a QB who passes for 500 yards gets all 3 bonuses, or 12 extra points. QB's also seem to get a good bit higher points for bonuses too. I don't know if you actually intended it that way or not.

I don't really care how the scoring is set up because I can adapt to anything easily enough. With the way it's set up now, though, a dominant day from a QB seems nearly insurmountable by the rest of the team. And if everyone realizes it then whoever drafts at the end is screwed. Normally I'd keep that knowledge to myself in order to use it to my advantage over those who didn't notice, but there's too many new people for that.

Yeah, I'll knock the QB bonuses down. I didn't realize they were cumulative. It'll be 1,2,3 instead of 3,4,5.

And as for D. I'm not a fan of their scoring. The D loses points way too quickly for my tastes which makes it necessary to draft a solid D much earlier than I'd like to. So that one's just a personal thing.

Also, I'm thinking of cutting down the bench size by 2.

I can cut divisions out. Really they're no different than normal with the exception that the top 2 playoff seeds go to division winners.
