it is in the future. And though i'm not trying to disprove it, i don't really like the celestial dragon's ancestry is from space theory, not because it's easy to disprove, i just find that with everything that already exists in the OP world it seems so unnecessary for it to end with "aliens", definitely would kill my buzz, as badly as buzz killington with his stories about bridges.

I don't think that the Celestial Dragon's are from space, but, I think the Gorosei are. I think each Gorosei is a representative from one of the 5 major planets around the One Piece world (see: astronomy set on Ohara).
In my theory, I think the Celestial Dragon's are a group of humans given immense power by the 5 alien nations, due to their help with overthrowing (betraying) the Ancient (human) Kingdom–during their invasion of the One Piece world, to claim the world's plentiful resource as their own--mentioned during the Void Century, helping them win the war; the modern Celestial Dragon's are from those bloodlines.
Also, and not really related (or supported 100% by fact), isn't the architecture of the Ancient Kingdom very similar to Mayan architecture? And you know...all those wonky theories about Mayan's having contact with alien life.

Actually, looking at that picture and the more I think about it, the more I think it'd be kind of cool. Definitely the kind of thing that would just make readers go "WTF", which is something Oda has quite the mastery of doing.
And it could be a nice addition to the continuing trend of outlandish creatures: Reindeer, Demon, Cyborg, Zombie, Fishman (?), Alien (?). We have land (Mole Chopper), sky (Winged Robin), and ocean (Jinbe). Might as well add space?
