I still get chills when I read or watch it.
I mean.

It's about friendship. True, undeniable friendship between two men who were from different worlds. One man saved the other's village, and earned the respect of the tribe. They bonded, went through hardships, and understood each other better than anyone. They vowed to see each other again. They waited, and waited. For years they waited.

And yet one man was shot up into the air, onto an island in the sky that no one knew existed, and the bell–the only possible way to communicate with his friend from such a distance now--the bell that signified that 'WE ARE HERE'--was lost.

The other man was put on trial for refusing to deny the existence of his friend and the island he found. He was confused, horrified, and worried--not for his own life, but the life of his friend. Even as he was on trial, crowds of people screaming 'LIAR! LIAR!' at his face--the only thing he could think about was where his precious friend was, and if he was alright. He was executed for his undying friendship.

That friendship surpassed time. Hundreds of years passed, and that friendship still existed. The descendents of those two were alive and well, and were working for and against their old relatives. One was fighting to see if the man who 'disgraced' his family name was truly a liar, and the other wanted to ring the bell for his ancestor's lost friend--'WE ARE HERE.'

It took hundreds of years. It took a war, and maniac, and a small pirate crew. But eventually that bell did ring. The two friends did hear the bell, and the decsendents were able to listen, and understand that 'WE ARE HERE.'

Honestly, what is greater then the power of friendship? Than the power of love? Hate only leads to distruction, letting fear put you in it's control creates a coward, greed leaves only a lonely person. Friendship and love is more valuable than anything. Love creates a beautiful feeling inside of you that you can't let go of, and it gives you power. To love someone with all your might, to vouch for them even as you stand right next to your excecutioner, and to fight to your very death to save something just so you can let your friend know that 'you are here,' even as you're dying where you stand…

Really. There are some amazing things out there, but friendship is truly the greatest of them all. It leads to laughter, happiness, tears, trials, hardships, but in the end, you become a better person because of it. Where would the world be without friendship? Where would Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji, Chopper, Robin, Franky, and Brook be without friendship? Where would the entire series of One Piece be without friendship?

There would be nothing. Love is what drives this series. Love and friendship. Vote for Kalgara! Vote for the man who stands for undying, everlasting friendship.

Well I voted for Monet (no surprise there). Good news sh'es in 3rd place. Bad news… there is still plenty of time for votes to come in and change it. With how close two are for 4th spot and they are gettign most of campaining right now, its not time for sit comfortably. I've seen some characters grab up 25 votes in the last half of the day (or through the night in my timezone) IF everyone focuses on the 2 that are racing for 4th place it could be that they both get enough votes to push pass Monet.

400 years ago, the seeds to a budding friendship were planted. Through nourishment, that is, with love and caring, with laughter, tears, hardships, trials, and smiles, it grew. It grew into a beautiful flower. 400 years ago, the friendship between a simple botanist and a tribal man grew, and every second these two spent together, this flower grew bigger and bigger. The two men had to go their separate ways, but promised to meet once again one day. The plant did not die or wilt. It only grew bigger and bigger. But one man was sent to the sky–unable to reach his friend ever again. The golden bell was lost. The words 'WE ARE HERE' would never reach their ears for hundreds of years, long after their deaths, no matter how hard they tried.

The two men did not stop. The man flung up into the sky still sought the golden bell, and would die looking for it. This man's friendship caused a war up in the sky. So much bloodshed for the bell, just to speak to his friend once more, to assure him of their safety. But as this war was going on, the man on land was being executed for his truths. He worried for his dear friend, not knowing where he was, facing crowds of people who wanted him dead. He did not deny the existence of his friend, did not lie too save his own life. His friend did exist, the island of gold was there somewhere. But it was gone, and so was his friend. They would never meet again. The friendship of these two caused a long standing war between two peoples, and shame upon the truth-teller's family. The flower wilted.

It simply hid itself in the heart's of those who knew. 400 years later that flower finally bloomed, it's petals shining as bright as gold. 400 years later, this friendship overcame time. It overcame death. This friendship overcame war and hate and screamed itself through the ringing of the bell–'WE ARE HERE'--the bell rang once more for these two. The friendship lasted longer then death itself, reached the hearts, the willing ears of the descendents of the two friends. The friendship of the two men sustained itself through pure love. The bell--'WE ARE HERE'--stopped the war, stopped the hate, made itself louder than any other voice screaming lies and malice--'WE ARE HERE'--the bell rang, made itself known to those far below, and those nearer. The bell rang--'WE ARE HERE'--to announce that the friendship of these two men did not die. It continued to live, through the horror, the lies, the tears, and burst through with the beauty of love. 'WE ARE HERE'--the tribal man finally reached the ears of the sailor once more, after 400 hundred years of waiting.
