Awww, that Usopp One Piece 101 painted my favorite character as…less than stellar. Kinda disappointing.
Really? He's my favorite character too and I loved it. Different strokes I guess.

It just seemed like they focused on "He's a liar and a coward" for too long. Oh well. As firecrouch said, that IS how he was in the beginning, I guess.
EDIT: Hot Damn, I got the gift and bundle on my order too! Even if it's just a poster or something, this is still supremely awesome.
I got that bundle notice too, and I have 11 copies of the set on order. Here's hopin'…
Holy crap I checked my email and I have the gift as well! Perhaps this is why they are back-ordering them. Well lets think. I don't think the gift would be anything high-budget so..
Perhaps a disc with music samples, an separate DVD dedicated to extras with the English cast, um.. inserted art cards, production notes, character sketches.
I'm only going off of what FUNimation has included in DVD's in the past. But I'm not saying it couldn't be something they've never done before.
I have the gift and the bundle on reserve, too!
Oh, man. So excited! Why can't it be August already?

Reserved for my order? What's that mean!?! Alright, guys. Looks like we'll be receiving season four THIS MONTH! Great! TO all those upset about an August release date- we'll get i early.
Possible reason why my order is different: I reserved it the first day it was on rightstuf. Maybe that puts me at the front of the line? …I hope.
Man this is awesome! I really didn't think we'd be getting this so soon!
Let's not get too excited here. The thing to look at is the status on the gift. A lot of times when you preorder from RightStuf the set will always say "Reserved for Your Order" until it actually ships. The whole thing has to say it.
The thing is, reserved for your order means that they have the item in stock. Rightstuf always sends their items out once they're in stock.
So they're probably just waiting on the bundle gifts from FUNimation then.
And Zephray, I didn't order from rightstuf the day it was listed….I ended up waiting at least a week, maybe even as much as two and mine says the same thing as everyone else's.

"Order has been received"
or
"Reserved for your Order"
I don't really understand the difference in these. One must be farther along in the process than the other, and I'm assuming "reserved for your order" is the farther one.
I don't really care. Just the sooner it gets in these huggin' hands, the better.

Wait a minute…"huggin?" I thought only the Allspark had a swear filter that uses that
Goddamn, man. I didn't know you were rich. O.0
Not really; I just keep a budget of free spending money, and right now two month's worth is devoted to this cause.
@Gentleman:
This just in, we're getting Collection 8 in the whereabouts of September 25th.
Is there a source for this plz? :P
Is there a source for this plz? :P
Mania. The usual.
Mania. The usual.
Awesome, thanks very much.
Also I just ordered Collection 6. I'll have to wait until August for S4 V1 (for various reasons) so I'll be very much jealous of everyone getting their copies early but oh well. :P
I finally made my order for OP Season 4 Voyage 1 (along with Oreimo, Mahoromatic: I'm Home, and Redline). I can't wait to finally get it! I'm gonna watch it through my BD player so I can get as close to HD as possible. XD
Oh, how I wish it were in HD. I wonder how noticable it'll be that it isn't. I've been watch an FMAB bluray, so I'm used to quality animation now… Hopefully, there won't be much of a difference.

(Q) What does the it mean when an item in my order is listed as "Reserved For Your Order"?
(A) This means the item is in stock and set aside to be shipped to you. Rightstuf.com may still hold your order until several items are available to ship all at once, but during that time, they will have all those items specifically set aside for you. There is, however, an extremely small chance that if Rightstuf.com may have a problem with inventory you may not get your product, but those occurrences should be extremely rare.
(Q) What do all these status phrases mean?
(A) For each shipment that is listed on an order on our web site, you will see one of the following statuses:
Not Yet Shipped - one or more items is on order from manufacturer
Shipped - the items on are on their way to you
Processing - the order is being reviewed, or the order has entered the shipping process (card authorized, product being packed in the warehouse).
Cancelled - the order has been cancelled
Please contact Customer Service for status update - contact us at info@rightstuf.com, 1.800.338.6827 or 1.515.252.6116
For each item that is in a shipment, you'll see one of the following statuses (these are the most common):
Reserved For Your Order - the item you ordered is in the warehouse, and set aside for your order. Unless there is a serious error, you should receive it from us.
Processing - part of an order that has entered the shipping process
Shipped - item should be on its way to you
On Order From Manufacturer - backordered, and we're working on getting it for you
"Canceled by manufacturer or per your request" or "Canceled" - for some reason, this item was removed from your order
Order has been received - part of a new order with us, that is in the process of being reviewed
Gift product - something you're getting for free from us (possibly a catalog, flyers, etc.)
"Authorized for Return," "Partial Exchange" or "Item exchanged" - if you have requested an RA # for this item
Item Returned - we have received the item you requested an RA # for
Refused shipment - the package was refused when delivery was attempted
Item Undeliverable - there was a problem delivering the package
I highly doubt One Piece season 4, Voyage one is shipping this early. Don't have a clue why it says.
It's probably not shipping yet. RightStuf's system always does this when there's an added item/gift. The "Reserved" goes on the dvds instead of the Item for some reason. I've made similar orders in the past with some sort of added item and eventually figured it out when the dvd marked as "Reserved" didn't ship anytime soon
*I looked in the old animeondvd/mania archives from a few months back and it is the gift that's marked as reserved (if you look at your order status, the item # fun09476, for the actual dvd showing the release date is still marked as "On Order" and it's the BUNDLE1278 item number that's "Reserved") and the reason for this is
The bundle doesn't physically exist, so Right Stuf probably has to force it to be "in stock". Otherwise, the items won't ship out when they come available, since the bundle is marked "on order from manufacturer"
Thank god i still have box 4 of fairy tail ,vampire night and Heaven lost Properthy to watch untill the 7 of august…BUT is think most of us will not get it directly on the 7th. you know why? 1. ofcourse the shipping time 2. every anime i preorder it always comes 2 or 4 days later ( maby because i live in The Netherlands 3. it (could) be delayed for some reason. 4. anyone idea's? I surely hope it will come on the 7th. but if it doesn't i will not be mad or anything i know how much time it cost to make a dvd box (saw some documentary's once on youtube) still i'm on the edge to know who's singing the op/ending. To end this post, an i know this topic has been closed about it. but some of you live very closely to the company and go to con's very often. Is there any news about a future bluray edition?. Th-Th-Th-Th-Th-... That's all, folks
Is there any news about a future bluray edition?. Th-Th-Th-Th-Th-… That's all, folks
It's been mentioned in the thread a few times before. But basically we won't be getting a Blu-Ray until some time after Toei puts out their own Blu-Rays for the same set. They're region free and they don't want Japanese fans importing FUNimation's cheaper discs. And even with shipping they WILL be cheaper because Toei is notorious for gouging their Japanese fans for stuff like this.
I don't know if they have a schedule for when they'll release those Blu-rays themselves, and none of us have any idea how long Toei will make FUNimation wait before they'll let them put out their own Blu-Rays either.
So basically the answer is 'probably someday, but it's anyone's guess when'.
@Zek:
Wait a minute…"huggin?" I thought only the Allspark had a swear filter that uses that
It's a Venture Bros. joke haha ^^
But now I've been pondering this:
Whoever gets this set first is going to have to answer a lot of questions, with no time to watch. Like:
"What do the inside cases look like?"
"What do the discs look like?"
"Can you post the lyrics/an MP3 of 'Kokoro No Chizu'?"
"Who sings the OP/ED's?"
"Who are featured on the commentaries?"
"What comes with this special bundle?"
"How do the episodes look in widescreen?"
"Is there a S4V2 trailer?"
and the big one: "Who plays _______?"
Honestly if I get it first I'm just going to make it it's own separate thread entitled "Season Four: Voyage One, and what's included" or something along those lines. But I think with all the pre-orders around chances are someone will have it the same day as you so you'll have a little help.

You forgot the most important question:
"How was the One Piece logo animated in the opening?"
:ninja:
-sigh- I think they might be right. I doubt they'll be shipping soon, though I wish they would.
Yeah, I've been thinking that was the case since DPNZ's post. Still, with RS having it in stock and just waiting on the bundle & gift I wouldn't be too surprised to see it ship 2-3 weeks from now for some people.
Right. I still think we'll get it early, just not this week. 2-4 weeks sounds about right.
Fairy Tail came a month early? Wow, that's record breaking! Hopefully this will too… I expect mid to late July though.
Yeah, the biggest question on my mind is how they handled the opening. I really, really hope Toei and FUNimation figured out how to make the gold logo work..
Well, seeing as how the logo only appears for 5 seconds during the opening, you'd think it wouldn't be that hard.
@LUFFY#1:

The problem is Toei's not involved with it at all. If they were I'm positive they'd be able to easily replicate the same effect with the FUNi logo. FUNi just cuts away to new shots because they've been handling it themselves. For Openings 1 & 3 I'm guessing they just managed to get Toei to just give them "clean" shots of the maps in the BG so that FUNi could then place the logo over it.
Well, seeing as how the logo only appears for 5 seconds during the opening, you'd think it wouldn't be that hard.
To do that kind of animation with the logo as seen in Map of the Heart, you'd have to take the whole logo apart and separate everything into it's own separate elements. That means taking apart all the letters, the borders, the rope, the "Shonen Jump", and the skull. Following that you'd have to manipulate them in a way so that all the letters can be turned and twisted around and still somehow merge to form the regular logo again without looking off. And then there's all the little effects, like how the "Shonen Jump" would have to "beam" into the shot, or how the rope would have twist around the border and tie itself up at the "E". So for FUNi I'd imagine that'd be a lot of work. That's why I'd rather they send a file of their logo to Toei and then have them pick it apart and do that for them.
Honestly if they didn't take the time to "gold" the logo in "Bon Voyage" (which is mono) then I don't see them takin the time to "gold" the logo for "Kokoro No Chizu", whose logo is actually in motion.
It'll prolly just be the Merry crashing into the water, followed by a similar cut like with "Bon Voyage". Though I would be happy to be proven wrong by FUNimation.

There's no widescreen shot of the Merry crashing into the water that would even last long enough for the music though. Unless they opt to get the Episode 196 shot and crop it to 16:9, which would still be weird, seeing as how that's a night scene.
Hm. Just watched the theme song again as a refresher. Now I remember why it's my favorite theme song.
They'll probably just cut :22-:27. Replace it with the gold logo on blue ocean, like previous themes. Though, wasn't the logo replacement necessary only due to 4kids still owning it? Is it time for Funi to take the logo back yet?
Wait- even if they could, they've probably grown attached to this gold logo. Consistency, consistency.
Regardless, this is a trivial detail that I don't care much about. I'm much more concerned with the english version of the theme. As I said, this is my favorite. I really hope they don't screw it up.

I dunno. I've seen some Flash and Photoshop animators do some good work for fan-made stuff, so I don't think it would be too time consuming.
I myself don't know much about animation besides the basics, so maybe I'm just assuming too much.
As for the second set, I won't be as tortured as all of you by the majority of it being filler. I've actually never seen the fillers, so I always have mixed feelings when looking forward to Funimation's filler sets. Seeing new One Piece is a treat, even if it's slightly bad. Plus, I'm looking forward to Foxy's many returns (in Spa Island Filler too).
Though it is really aggravating that these filler episodes are holding back the best arc in One Piece.
I personally don't care how they handle the opening w/ the gold logo as seen through playing the actual episodes. I just hope that Funimation can just give us an actual un-edited, blue logo version of Bon Voyage and Kokoro no Chizu in extras of this upcoming set. As long as we have that, I don't see any problem. ^^

I actual liked the upcoming little Foxy filler arc. It was a lot of fun and had lots of hilarious moments! At least, that's how it was for me, but then, I actually really like Foxy…even if he can be an ass. XD

It's not Flash or Photoshop though. They're not animating the letters or any of that stuff in the "traditional" sense like you would with, say, a character. The logo stuff are things you do in After Effects. It's a lot of tedious work that would require FUNi to completely take apart the logo and then try to re-assemble it in a way that looks convincing and accurate to the original.

Most prominent theory is FUNi using their own logo to set it apart from 4Kids. They've made their own logos for anime series already using English titles in the past too. I doubt 4Kids could own the rights to a logo of a series they don't own the rights to so that theory's out. Plus, we've seen Bandai use the 4Kids logo in both UA and Pirate Warriors. FUNi's also used it on a Season 3 Fourth Voyage ad, along with the Collection 6 & Season 4 First Voyage ad on their site.

Haha, I have After Effects and I understand what you mean by "tedious work". XD
I think at this point Funi's mostly concerned with dubbing the episodes, which itself is even more tedious work.
I guess if One Piece sells better, they can hopefully hire a group of people to do something like that or, like you said, let Toei Animation do it. (Seeing how Toei's always doing openings for new anime, I don't understand why they wouldn't do that in the first place. Eh..it probably wasn't in the contract. -_-)
That's weird. I thought there was an actual reason for it. Not just senseless editing. I thought this was 'uncut' One Piece…?
-1 Funimation
I guess when they were making their own logo they sort of assumed that all the openings would be using more-or-less the same logo animation as in Towards the Light? It'll be very interesting to see how they handle Crazy Rainbow Star far in the future.
Troll Post: WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO THE CREW IN G-8!?! THEY'VE BEEN TRYING TO BUST OUT FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS!
…fucking cliffhangers, man.
Sonic X is owned by Tokyo Movie Shinsha (TMS).
Seriously, they dont own everything.

My mistake. Relax.
I really don't care what they do with the logo. I don't really even care for the original logo. I know Luffy's the main character and everything, but his jolly roger is more than enough for the logo, the don't him as a letter in it, that makes it read "One PLuffyece."

They did provide us with the second opening with the blue logo as an extra (On the S1V4 disc2), so I see no reason why they wouldn't here either.
It'd actually be pretty cool if they just left it.
I also just remembered that we're getting brand new eyecatchers in this set too!
