A whooping, just as expected. With this kind of meticulous execution, I don't know how anyone can end the reign of this particular Spanish team. They're not even playing as well as they are capable of playing yet and it's already looking this impressive. It is almost frightening. Out of all the teams left I can only see the German defense and the Portugese skill slow these fellows down a bit, and I'm not sure if even that will be enough. That's just pretty.
Just imagine how many goals they would have scored by now if David Villa wasn't injured…

I just have the feeling that many teams could've gotten a 5 or 6-0… Spanish were playing it so safe it seemed like they were trolling... Get the ball to the line, get it back, and so on and so forth.
Flawless, but that won't work against teams capable of pressuring... It didn't against Italy, and it wouldn't against most of the teams. It just happens that they have team to play a more direct futebol if they want. Sucks that Villa isn't there, it would lead to some great semi-finals. (Quarter-finals will be easy game for Spain against the weak Sweaden or the incomplete england...)Overall, solid game from Spain, much heart from Ireland. Spain didn't feel like speeding it up and getting some more in (and risking an honor goal by Ireland), and we don't really know if they can do it.
Let's hope that trainer gets that idea of playing without striker out of his mind. If he doesn't need them he can just borrow them to Portugal... Our 3 strikers are so fucking useless. Feels so stupid having Loriente and Torres on the bench and playing with no striker. It's good for surprise, but not really a stable formation.Special mention to the stupid ref. Yeah, this is the best you get in Portugal, that's why I tend to ignore the league matches. You win shoulder to shoulder, you get a yellow card. If the referee can't favor the side he wants with his decisions, he tackles the other. (just kidding :3)

I just think that Pirlo and the Italy's center midfielder are beasts. And the strikers that ended the game should've started it. CRO should've put insert awesome player name here, the one who ended the game in the middle in the middle earlier and they could've avoided the 1st goal. Other than that, bad decisions from Italy, decided to defend, suffered. But they'll win against Ireland and qualify. Not that I wouldn't love if the Irish won the game. They deserve it for their awesome atittude. -

That match was actually really worth watching. England played well enough without Rooney, and all the five goals were highlight reel stuff. And what's even better, Sweden got eliminated. Thank you, Theo Walcott.

Walcott's goal was topped by the very next goal. That finish from Welbeck was simply exquisite. Back to the goal, ball behind him, a flick with the inside of his heel just to divert the ball into the far post.
Isaksson was horribly wrong-footed for the Walcott goal, otherwise it was at a very saveable height. -
No keeper expects a mid-range kick right on top of his head. Same reason why slow penalties to the middle of the goal are effective.
But that Welbeck goal… SWEET.Today the first group gets decided. :3 I hope Poland passes, its always nice for a host to pass the group phase, and I don't think Ucraine will pass.

Ahhh, yes just what I wanted to see. Greece doesn't play prettily, but I'm always a little bit antagonistic when it comes to Russian sports so whatever. I'm just glad to see them advance. The expressions on those faces were so happy.
And tomorrow will mark the day of the most interesting match in the cup so far. Netherlands vs Portugal. Let's go, Oranje! We can still do this~

I watched the Greece game and i felt really happy for them, especially when they celebrated in front of their delighted fans at the end.
As the underdogs they fought hard and pulled off the biggest upset so far.Also, my sympathies for the guy who was denied a clear penalty and got booked (and will subsequently miss the next game)

If Germany wins against Denmark- which is highly likely- and Holland beats Portugal with a difference of at least 2 goals, Germany and Holland will move on. The scenario might be unlikely given the past games of the Netherlands but it's still possible. Personally I'm of course hoping to see it happen but we shall know in approximately five and a half hours. -
