If they only found some better way to connect the set pieces, and give the villain some more screen time and better motivation, it would be a much better game.
-
Story-wise .
Everything-wise, except graphics. They really screwed the formula. Instead of good platforming mixed with great gun-play, it was set-piece after set-piece with spastic chase sequences thrown in… with a dash of fire-fights and platforming. The few fire-fight sequences in the game were even really unbalanced, often difficult. The game was a mess of direction, the behind-the-scenes videos for the game even outright confirms that. Biggest thing being, yes, the story. I lost count of how many things went unexplained and holes that were unfilled. The characters were also bland this time around were as they were the high points in the first 2. Cutter was the best character in the game and he was bloody new with no backing like the others. It's embarrassing.
This is why you don't split a team up. The major forces of play at Uncharted 2's development wasn't even involved with UC3 and damn does it show. I have hope for The Last of Us cause the big-ones that worked on UC2 are developing it... but it's still half a team. The UC3 team is sadly handling the yet unannounced UC4 from the looks of it. Naughty Dog was a fantastic developer cause they focused on quality over quantity, but after the success of UC2 that wasn't enough anymore.
I really REALLY hope the team comes whole again in the future.
-
Kinda impossible considering a portion of the Uncharted jumped to Retro a few months back anyways. But we still don't know what part they played exactly.
And I completely agree with Cutter being the only interesting character. And considering the whole plot was about Drake and Sully it's kinda bad that they are outshone. Personally I'd rather see a game based on Cutter and Chloe than see Drake and that blonde girl arguing then making up once again.
I think the combat was weird with 3 in that it seemed more focused on the melee side of things… but then again combat in Uncharted was never one of it's strongpoints.

Couldn't agree more on that.
I don't even finished the game yet because of the above mentioned reasons. When I played U1 and U2 I couldn't stop and wanted to play it the whole night even if I had to go to work. But UC3 …. I play now and then for an hour and sometimes I'll finish it. No rush there to find out what happens next.

http://www.gamespot.com/news/next-playstation-to-lock-out-used-games-report-6368582
Sites like Gamespot and Kotaku are reporting some rumors about the PS4. Apparently it won't feature backwards compatibility with the PS3, there will be an anti-used game system in place, games will be locked to a single account, and games can only be played if you're connected to the PSN. I REALLY hope these are just rumors.
-
enough to make me not want one. PSN is so unreliable anyways. Hell I barely even use it.
What happens when somebody hacks PSN and they take it down for a month? we all have paperweights?
-
PS4 rumored to callously shoot you in the head if you even think about another game system
-
If those rumors are true, I won't be purchasing a PS4 until it's at least half its initial cost and has twenty games I want to play.
-
I actually prefer the Uncharted Vita game to U3, and it's not even that great. But the first two are both amazing (the first more for destroying expectations at the time it came out, the second for being a nigh-flawless cinematic gaming experience).
U3 has approximately half the interactivity of the second game. I think it's largely a product of Naughty Dog trying to hide loadscreens, but too much of the game is devoted to small skits that aren't especially funny and that just get tedious on multiple playthroughs, which was one of the things I enjoyed about the first two games.
And the shifts they made to the basic game mechanics were mind-boggling. Was anyone really complaining that much about combat in U2? Or saying they wanted more scripted unskippable fistfights that felt like half-arsed versions of Arkham Asylum?

Biggest fail ever, if they do it^^ But wait… The idiots will do it.
I'm out of this shit, if this will become true
-
I wouldn't buy either … forcing people to connect their consoles to the internet and don't let them buy used games ... no thanks

So would this essentially mean that if you were to borrow a game from a friend of yours for the "Obris" or whatever it's called, you couldn't play it on your system because it's, technically a used copy of the game, right? If even one of these rumors is confirmed, Sony is just shooting themselves in the foot. It's like Sony just took some of the worse possibilities a system could have and added into the PS4, if it's true, that is.
-
Also, what the heck happens when it's 6-10 years from now, and I want to buy some old games for the console that aren't new anymore? With this being rumored for both Microsoft and Sony, they'd have to be idiots to actually think any of this would be a good idea.
-
Exactly! What if I miss out on some oldies that I never got to play due to either my poor memory or no money? If this turns out to be true for both Microsoft AND Sony, Nintendo will be the only real heroes this upcoming gen.
-
Don't believe these rumors, guys. It'd be PR suicide for Sony. There was similar rumors going on not too long ago for the next Xbox, but nothing came of them.

Honestly all this online pass stuff is a bit similar to that outcome… just less extreme.
They're testing the waters. Seeing what they can get away with and how far they can push us and still get our money.
The online passes are easing gamers into it.
I agree Buuhan, it's too soon for that and they'd be retarded to try it.
-
That would truly be one heck of stupid move. That would probably mean that all the movies/tv shows on my external HD won't be playable either.
It's a good thing i still have so many ps3/wii and DS games to complete, that i won't be interested in buying any new consoles soon.
And if the WII U will have only slightly better graphics than the PS3, chances are the ps3 will probably get alot of the same games. Which should keep me occupied for years to come. But so far it's just rumour, maybe this is just a test to see how the market responds.

Seems to be the same situation for DLC as well. 'How much DLC can we put out on day one?' 'What's not acceptable DLC?' 'How much can we charge for this?' It's always about how much you can get away with.
-
Side note:
Little King Story Vita:
-
I'll be honest here…regardless of whatever shitty features or anything annoying that will be implemented on the ps4 one thing is for sure, I will buy it. I will part with massive amounts of hard earned cash and own this system. Then quite my job, ditch my friends and go on an intense session that will leave me bed bound for months.
I can't explain or justify any of this though. I just accept its become some kind of fate for me to fuse with any Sony related products.
-
Everything-wise, except graphics. They really screwed the formula. Instead of good platforming mixed with great gun-play, it was set-piece after set-piece with spastic chase sequences thrown in… with a dash of fire-fights and platforming.
While the third game did have a somewhat increased amount of set-pieces I never felt the platforming or gunfights had gotten the shaft.
The few fire-fight sequences in the game were even really unbalanced, often difficult.
I think the only gunfights in the game that were bad was everything that immediately takes place after Nate drinks the water made even more stupid by the fact
! That all the enemies you fight are hallucinations who are just regular enemies just incredibly harder to kill
But so far it's just rumour, maybe this is just a test to see how the market responds.
Either that or people simply aren't giving Sony enough credit for not doing something that realistically they would have no reason to do because it wouldn't benefit them. I mean Sony did tune out some people with some of the things they did with the PS3 and though they were forgiven for some of those decisions by most of their fanbase Sony can't afford to alienate them again.

Given the amount of money publisher's rake in off DLC combined I'd be willing to say alot. Though there'd probably be less butthurt over all that if someone from the industry would reaffirm the fact that obtaining DLC is optional under most circumstance.
-
With the Vita, I think Sony did their best job of launching a piece of hardware with support in a while.
But good lord, they did so by taking all of the good releases from the next two months and sticking them in the launch window. And help is not on the way any time soon.
This is the "PS3 doesn't have any games" imbroglio again.
-
I'm getting tired of waiting for decent vita games.
Here I am with a vita for two weeks still in its box and nothing cool to justify opening it.
-
Usually people buy a console when there is something for it. :/
But I kinda want Little Kings Story 2. First one for the Wii was amazingly fun.
-
I think the Vita is phenomenal. I grabbed Hot Shots Golf, Lumines, Uncharted, and Rayman when the system came out and have enjoyed all of them. But the only major release in April is Disgaea 3, which is a port. Next month is marginally better with Mortal Kombat (uninterested) and Resistance, which I might pick up just for the lack of anything else to play.
But this is quite the dry spell until June.
-
Persona 3: FES is coming to PSN as a PS2 classic for $9.99. I own the physical copy but only played an hour of it… I'd prefer to have it on my PS3 (as I would everything) but I'm not gonna pay $10 for the convenience. Now I do hope Persona 4 comes to the PSN for $10 eventually as well, cause that's a PS2 game you can't physically buy for that cheap, cheapest I've ever seen it has been $20, and I hear that's considered a steal for it.
-
I guess it rules out a HD remake. But still awesome to see it there. I own the PSP version so see no need to buy once more tho.
Now bring Suikoden 3, 4, 5, Dragon Quest (dunno about this one. Would probably expect a Wii U remake over PS3 considering DQ seems to be hugs with Nintendo again), Dark Cloud, 2 and all of the other awesome JRPGs of last gen onto it too. Would certainly pay for those

We still need Suikoden 2, before any of the later ones.

Fuck. Yes.
Seeing as how the only copy of that game I've ever played was borrowed from my cousin, I am more than happy to pay a mere 10 bucks to own this game.

And 1. Aint seen that on PSN yet either.

Can't speak for Europe, but the US PSN has had it for years. I bought it a year ago when it was on sale for $2.99, never played it lol.
-
Is there a reason as to Why Legend of Dragoon or Legend of Legaia is not on the Classics list for PS3/Ps1 yet..
I do see Japan did get Dragoon though on the PS3 stores -
-
Couldn't stop laught.
I want that f-ing piece of shit. -
So…I have a Vita now.
....It's wonderful. I mean, yeah, there aren't enough good games out now, but I got UMvC3 as a gift. Holy shit, the online play is phenomenal! I feel like I'm playing the PS3 version in handheld form. Sure, the graphics are toned down and there are some longer load times, but that's barely a sacrifice. So yeah...I approve.
Once MK9 comes out....Oh dear god, I don't know if any handheld game will compare, save for FE: Awakening or Kid Icarus: Uprising.

The graphics are insane, but I'm still going to refuse to open mine until I see something worthy of christening this beast.
Preferably a shootem up.
-
Meh. Playing UMvC3 Arcade while playing the Sonic Generations soundtrack on the Vita. I have my methods of waiting for the games I want.
-
This looks cool.
I was wrong, this looks awesome.

If you've not played Rayman on other consoles (and the Vita version is superior anyways), it's the best 2d-platformer I've played since…well...a long time. Well worth a christening.
Only thing even approaching a shoot'em up on the system that I know of is Super Stardust. Have they announced any for the future?
-
This looks cool.
I was wrong, this looks awesome.
OH MY GOD. That looks like the game I've always wanted! A modern magical fantasy game that takes place in a huge city and people have elemental powers and shit and some of them still use tradition weapons. Oh hell yeah. System seller for me.
-

Only three games I've heard that are coming out in the next six months, plus a few rumors, but chances are I will have to rely on either modern warfare or Unit 13.
I'm kind of praying I will get a chance to play hitman on this system one day. That and maybe something wacky like crash team racing or anything else in that genre.
Oh I forgot to mention we will have a massive range of adventure style games ploughed into this system. I would mention names, but it's pretty much over 85% of them….so a hell of a lot.
The genres I'm not investing in will be driving and standard fighting games like the capcom stuff. I don't know how else to explain it other than saying I haven't played anything from either side that I've liked for a long long time. Considering we have something this neat I suggest we look to broaden our gaming horizons and start reviewing some of the more obscure titles that have something new to offer....
....Something like gravity rush Or ninokuni.
In fact I would recommend you all check these two games out. The second one feels full of Ghibli quality~
And the first one just feels unfamiliar. Not amazing or groundbreaking but new and unpredictable.
Btw if anyone has any games they can recommend then please give me the heads up. Ive spent a while looking for the various releases but I'm sure I've missed a few. Either way don't be shy to put some names or videos out there for me to go over.

Hate to burst the bubble on this one, but Ni No Kuni is PS3 and DS, not Vita. There's a thread on it over here: [http://apforums.net/showthread.php?t=29827&highlight=ni+no+kuni
W](http://apforums.net/showthread.php?t=29827&highlight=ni+no+kuni)hen you said shoot-'em-up, I thought you meant in the traditional sense, i.e. sidescrolling shooters like Gradius. You're right that there aren't many available, but the Unit 13 demo was quite good and I've heard good things from friends; supposedly, the mechanics are solid, but the real appeal is in how it presents the game in coherent missions with strong replay value.
The only real shooter that I know of in the hopper for the next few months is Resistance: Burning Skies, but that series has been fairly up and down. The PSP iteration was actually quite good, but not sold on videos I've seen. Here's one from an early build: [
S](
)eriously, though, I was entirely tired of sidescrollers–like you were with driving/fighting--and was bowled over by Rayman. Hot Shots Golf on the system is also extremely solid. And I personally love the Uncharted game; if it didn't have the weight of expectations that comes with being Uncharted, I think it would be considered one of the most impressive handheld games ever released. -

Oh and sorry about the shooter nick, I should have said fps. It's an old habit…
As for unit 13, I heard thath the game was ok itself, but was made better by the fact the missions would be quite dark and give you the option to have what you might say a conscience, or choice in how lead the missions or the kind of person you want to play. I have yet to see this in the previews, but the reviews seem to say as much.
As for resistance....I'm kind of fed up of it. I remember playing the first few games and always coming to an end where you think humanity has pulled through, only to have another games twelve months down the line that says things got even bleaker. This sounds stupid I know, but I like the game to stick to the plot and story it has and not make another one up continuously just to dupe us customers into parting with our hard earned cash.
I guess the only thing I really want to see in that series is the past and conclusion to the main characters, as well as knowing how it all happened and the full story behind it all.
Finally...uncharted. I know it looks great and comes from a long line of decent predecessors, but I'm just not sold yet. I think I need to go over some actual game footage and not adverts to make my mind up.
That reminds me, I really do need to look at bioshock and Assassins creed more. For such big titles I've heard very little, or at least not a lot of people promoting it.
-
Bioshock is apparently getting a big Vita game down the line, but no info yet. Assassin's Creed is purely in rumors stage, but they're strong rumors.
Not sure if the storyline to this Resistance game will help or hurt, since it actually takes place at the same time as Resistance 2.
As for Uncharted, I understand the complaints, I do. Some of the controls are wonky, AI isn't up to par, storyline is fairly cliche, and some of the forced motion controls suck (though most of the ones that affect gameplay can be turned off). But at the end of the day, it's a visually-impressive game with roughly fifteen hours of content that is fully-voiced and has above-average gameplay. And it's all portable, too. Just think expectations got out of hand with that one.
-
This looks cool.
I was wrong, this looks awesome.
That's this, right?
So it's an MMORPG. Too bad, the trailer makes it look interesting, but I'm not a fan of MMOs. I was hoping it would be an action-adventure or some thing. It would've been a must buy for Vita, then.
Although, according to the Wikipedia page, it's for PC…

Hasn't Uncharted's stories always been fairly action movie cliche? I haven't played the third one, and while I've enjoyed the first two games, the stories are more along the lines of very well executed than really trying something unique. ….Then again, what hasn't been done yet?
-
That's this, right?
Legitimately not sure what you're referring to by "that." Other unannounced games? Shoot'em ups? I see the link to Secret World, just not sure I understand the relevance.

True. I guess I would say that there's even less unique about this storyline, no deep backstory with Francis Drake or anything like that. Just a random location and a random villain, even moreso than previously in the series. Think more Tomb Raider.
