Shep shooting at Kai Leng out of a moving car was pretty damn sweet as well!
dear god I am so hyped for this game. The demo is going to be the best Valentine's Day gift ever.

I need this game so badly..
I saw Jacob, Miranda, and Samara, but when did Legion appear in that trailer?
Descending from the ceiling and glowing, while Shep and her ass are occupying the right side of the screen.
There's only two retcons if I remember right(bugs may have caused a couple more). The repetitive environments and inability to really customize your squadmates doesn't really help though.
I'm looking forward to less customization, actually. Inventory micromanaging and picking up 700 more or less identical versions of the same weapon and armor, let alone far inferior versions of what you already have, for 70 hours, and then sorting them so you know which one to sell or potentially hold on to, really sucks.
As for which story choices carry over? Eh. I looked at a list and the couple things that don't won't affect my file, I didn't make those particular choices.

Oh good. It looks like you may enjoy it a pretty good bit then.
A bunch of little choices carry over, but there are six that make a big difference; these six are the only ones present in the interactive comic for the PS3 version.
! Who you romanced, if anyone
Fate of the Rachni Queen
Killing Wrex on Virmire
Killing Ashley or Kaidan on Virmire
Rescuing the Council ship
Electing a human council member

So pretty!
Demo'll be out tomorrow!
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Also.....apparently, the full game's already been downloaded somewhere.......media blackout if you already haven't.
Yeah, I'll take some leaked clips, but I'll support Bioware and BUY the game, thank you.
Finally got around to pre-ordering the Collector's Edition. There's only a few stores left to buy the 360 version now it seems.
I'm suprised you managed to get one this close to release. I preordered last month after a few spots said they were all out.
Where'd ya order?

Target. I'm surprised they had any. I don't think I'll be getting any pre-order bonuses, but I don't really mind that much.
I pre-ordered at GameStop and they were out of the Collector's Edition. I don't really care, though, as I wasn't sure if I was going to buy it in the first place. The only thing that really tempted me about it was the "bonus character and mission" part of it. Goddammit, I wanted to know who that was!!!
Oh well, at least I'll get the GameStop bonus DLC.
And I am now officially avoiding the Bioware forums because of that downloaded full game and the spoilers that are racing around it.
I did come across one that excited me though:
! There was mention of a possible wedding epilogue if you stayed with your ME1 romance! That would be a nice reward for all the romantic shit Bioware put us through! Y'know, and providing you and your LI surive.
March 9th. Hurry up please.
Will the Limited Edition DLC be released for everyone else later?
Honestly, I would guess the bonus character and mission would be since that seems pretty important. I'm actually surprised thats that and the robotic dog are only available for the Collector's Edition and not available for all new games. Also, it seems like Target is sold out now….
On that note, I also think I was mistaken about the full game being out at the moment though there's still the leaked script. The 'Mass Effect Universe' artbook is also pretty spoilerish.
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
Also, the demo should be out along with free multiplayer including the 360.....I wouldn't know. My 360 recently stopped working.
Why oh why won't my PSN update, oh why oh why could this beeee~?
Sorry for double post (guess everyone else is still plugging away at their demo)
Played the demo. Lots of fun, but the camera felt a little too close to Shepard, especially during the Anderson segment.
I wonder if we'll be able to edit Shepard's appearance from the model we have in the previous game? I kinda don't want to try to match her face from scratch, I just want to change her hair.
EDIT: The ME facebook page told me we can! JOY!
I played the demo today …
And right after that i pre-ordered the game.
! The scene with the boy almost made me cry.
Let it be now known, since the demo is out and it's only a few weeks till release but:
ALWAYS USE SPOILER TAGS!!!!!!!!!
Wow the demo was
! completely underwhelming!
! Also, possibly one of the worst multiplayer horde modes I've ever played. Just wow.

! Is it decent bad as in you could still have fun playing it, or bad bad where it's frustrating to play through?

! It's playable despite a weird as hell dash animation when you turn. Combat just feels like it wants to be Gears of War but it's not nearly as smooth as it. Storyline sections were meh and predictable. Multiplayer was fucking dreadful

! Well, I'll give it a try if I can in the demo. I really doubt anyone was planning to buy Mass Effect 3 for its multiplayer anyway…..or kinect for that matter.
I don't really care about the demo. I know I'm buying this game regardless, and demos are never as solid or as polished as the finished product - some companies contract their demos out to other studios since building a demo takes away from time to work on the actual game. I only try a demo if I'm clueless+curious about a game and want to know what it's generally about.
I felt
! the renegade choices of the demo lacked the usual renegade punch to them.
looks like
! the health bars are now separated into different parts, and you can't regenerate to full if your health goes beyond a certain point. Going to be a bigger challenge especially with vanguards.
! and you can heal teammates without medigel? YES PLEASE.
And so apparently
! multiplayer unlocks in the demo won't carry over to the actual game. Aww… :(
! Overall, I enjoyed the demo very, very much. I definitely agree that it would have been nice to have had the camera spaced a little further back (I had quite a few instances of not being able to see my target due to Shepard's backside). The roll mechanic seems rather wonky too; I kept mis-rolling here and there and even though it didn't cause me any major problems, I really did not like that. I also didn't like the lack of the holster gun option (why did they take that out?) However, the atmospheric immersion of the first area of the demo was spectacular; looking up and seeing massive Reapers looming in the distance was just plain awesome. It was a good introduction to the control system and everything came back to me pretty quickly. The second part was a little less mindblowing, but it did give you the opportunity to try more advanced combat techniques and was pretty enjoyable, imo.
! As for multiplayer, while I had a good time with it. I did have a few gripes. First and foremost, I thought the random unlocks suck; I would have much preferred to have been able to choose your unlocks instead of having it randomized. The waves can be loooooong and pretty punishing to boot, with enemies soaking up damage like a sponge, and not being able to re-map powers is very inconvenient. I also felt that the two maps I played lacked variety (although they were well laid-out; I haven't found any spots where you are completely safe, which forced you to keep an eye on your teammates and surroundings). More enemy variety would have been nice as well (perhaps later?)
I did like how teamwork is very much encouraged; you'll pretty much get murdered if you're not watching each other's asses (assists, revives), especially in the higher difficulties. Would be nice if there was some sort of system in place so that you could team up with other higher-ranking players, though. Being paired up with inexperienced players that get killed in the first or second waves is a little frustrating. Also, a join-in option when people quit would be great, because if your team sinks below 3 members you might as well pack it up and move along.
! All in all, while I enjoyed playing the multiplayer, I'm not certain if this is a mode that I'll keep coming back to without certain improvements. It just felt very bland and tedious after a while, with the small maps and lack of variety in enemies.
buuuuuut….despite my areas of concern, I loved the demo and I know I'm going to love this game when it's released! It just felt so amazing to slip back into Shepard's world. March 9th can't get here soon enough.
How exactly is this thing organized? Do you play like the first half hour of the story with your custom character or what?
The demo is set up like this:
! You select your gender and customize your Shepard's look (or just go with default), then you choose your Shep's reputation (War Hero, Sole Survivor, ect), origin (Spacer, Colonist, ect), class (Soldier, Sentinel, ect), and combat loss (Ashley, Kaidan, or Numerous). First part of the demo has Shepard on Earth when the Reapers arrive and teaches you the basics of the controls and combat during a mad dash to the Normandy. Second part of the demo has you on the Salarian homeworld during a later portion of the game, attempting to retrieve a fertile female Krogran from the Salarians when Cerberus attacks. It's meant to introduce the player to more advanced combat techniques (controlling squadmates, combining powers, and so on).
Also, the voice for one of your new squadmates has been revealed today (major spoilers, if you haven't already guessed):
! It was leaked some time ago that EDI and as-of-yet unnamed Prothean would be your two new squadmates. Supposedly the voice of the Prothean has been revealed through the audio files in the demo.
!
! If this is legit, then this guy is never leaving my team and must comment on everything, lol
So can you not use your custom character from ME2? Oh well I'm downloading it as we speak.
So can you not use your custom character from ME2? Oh well I'm downloading it as we speak.
Not for the PS3 version of the demo as far as I am aware. Dunno if there's a workaround for that in the PC version. You'll be able to import your character to the actual game though, of course.
Well it's only a 2GB download so it probably doesn't come with the demo anyway. Oh well, I guess I'll have to suffer the default Shep :ninja: .
Edit: 50% to go!
Edit 2: After three games why the hell are all the clothes still so blurry. This is from a few screenshots I just looked up but it annoys me a lot.
Edit 3: Apparently you can copy some code down from the squad screen in ME2 that'll recreate your character in the demo. Doesn't work with characters imported to ME2 from ME1 though  .
Ruh-roh, there's disordinance in the ME3 community:
SPOILERS!!!
! There is apparently a claim from a "very reliable source" that James Vega won't be an LI option. The fangirls are already PISSED, and will bring the house down if it turns out to be true.
! A very good point has been made that, depending on how you play, it's possible for all of femShep's LIs to be dead by the time of ME3, whereas mShep will always have at least one, especially since that new reporter lady (forgot her name) on board is apparently an LI. Another case of catering to the male player where, unless the game is played very precisely (or luckily) the girl players are getting the shaft.
! I'm annoyed myself. I've got Kaidan in my game, but I'm highly surprised that they added a young human male character voiced by freaking Freddie Prinze Jr. and didn't make him an LI. And there are a lot of things pointing at this to be true. He would basically be the Sebastian of ME3, except Sebastian was DLC and not a main part of the game like Vega will be. Goddammit, Bioware.

! This is the thread: http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/325/index/9253518/6
! Bioware had better not be doing this to us. The fangirls were rejoicing that we got such a scruffy-cute LI option. But nooooooo . . . .

! Hmm….well, there was one line in the leaked script which seemed to imply he was an LI. The person this info seems to be coming from seems to be a guy who was a game journalist that seems to be reliable. I'd put this on...I wouldn't get my hopes up, but I don't think it can be said for sure.
! This does remind me of ME1 though where MaleShep had Ashley and Liara, and Femshep had Kaidan and....Liara.
In other news, Kai Leng's voice actor has been confirmed as Troy Baker! The same guy who voiced everyone's favorite character from Final Fantasy XIII!
Just finished the demo and am happy with how the game seems to be shaping up. I'm not sure if there's going to be any more exposition since it doesn't seem really to fit after the end of ME2 (I suppose if you use your imagination it could but it seems sort of like there's something missing). As for how the game plays, it seems to run much better than ME2. There's no random slowdowns and they for the most part have fixed the problem from ME2 where the framerate would jump up and down in cutscenes and dialogue choice things. They put a few prerendered cutscenes in the demo for some unknown reason, which really looked terrible. Especially the one at the end of the first part where it was going from in-game Shepard to prerendered footage. Well, I'm looking forward to it but I probably won't get it when it first comes out.
Dang it! I need a new Xbox soon!
Also, it seems like Femshep gets more coverage with a Bishoujo statue.
Aside from the heels, it looks pretty good actually.
You're at a computer, download the beta on it :sideways: .

! Edi x Legion?
As for the Phothean teammate, not shocking at all I had a sinking suspicions after playing through Mass Effect 2 that the Collectors/Protheans would figure into ME3 in some capacity.
Edit 2: After three games why the hell are all the clothes still so blurry. This is from a few screenshots I just looked up but it annoys me a lot.
After 3 Gears Of War games Epic could never figure out how to [instantly] get textures to render 100% of time, Bioware's bout's with this shouldn't shock you.

Dat song .

It's not that they don't load, it's that they just look terrible up close, like they're not at a high enough resolution. They look really nice at a distance but when the camera does a close up you can tell.
Edit: I was under the impression it would only be this way in the demo but apparently in the full game you won't be able to holster and unholster your weapon at will. That's stupid.
Someone on the bioware forums made a good point:
! They said Vega may very well be this game's Sebastian (DA2), in that he's not a "true" romance in that there's no consummation or "epic" love story, just some flirting that builds up over the game and which might end with, at most, a passionate kiss right before the final battle. Sebastian was like that, a few flirts in Acts 2 and 3, (and no romancing anyone else), and at the end you got either a Chaste marriage or an implied "We'll marry if/when I become the Prince of Starkhaven and you become the Vicountess of Kirkwall." And hey, at least in this game Vega doesn't have a vow of Chastity like Sebastian did.
Dang it! I need a new Xbox soon!
Also, it seems like Femshep gets more coverage with a Bishoujo statue.

That would be a pretty cool statue. Heels are stupid (what armor uses heels!?), but hey, it's a bishoujo statue.
trailer time! although its not the full thing.
!
! It's cool and all, but i can't help but notice the lack of other aliens. Maybe they don't want to spoil too much?
And i was thinking about 'spoiler'
! I can actually accept the appearance of a prothean… since the reapers have been shown to harvest species and carry out genetic tinkering on them. It's entirely possible that this guy is a clone by the reapers. For what reasons through....and I have no idea how EDI is going to fit in either. Hopefully bioware won't mess this up.
I disagree with some of this but it really points out why Mass Effect, as a universe, is just so unique, maybe even important, in today's media.
Shit, even if you disagreed with all of it, this is a very well-written article worth reading for the sake of discussion.
Reminds me that I think Farscape was one of the only sci-fi shows I can think of that had alien-looking aliens and not just douchebags with spoons on their faces.
! If EDI's really a new squad member, I hope they model her appearance after her voice actress.
!
! Because, I mean, dayum.

Oh yeah, the thing I disliked about the article is that his thesis is like
Wrong
And I think he brings up a lot of good discussion points but I think most can be shot down
Like I mean about the thesis here
Mass Effect is driven entirely by human exceptional-ism and I think that's my least favorite thing about it. There is no cosmicist agenda, which would have been awesome, but it's not there and I don't know what this guy is looking at.
The reason is this: Mass Effect is the first blockbuster franchise in the postmodern era to directly confront a godless, meaningless universe indifferent to humanity.
Whichever Mass Effect this guy played, I really want to play it.
Does anyone even care about this except me though lol
I'm reading it now, and it's more interesting than I would have thought it'd be. Might have more to say about it after I've actually sat down and read it.
