Let's see… it looks like there are still four or five battleships left roaming around at the end, which is probably every ship without a Vice Admiral.
Was that a typo or did you really mean that it was the ships without a Vice-Admiral. I´d actually say that the four remaining ships each have one Vice-Admiral on board. The fifth would be Kuzan who´s not on board of any ship anymore. Would make sense actually because I don´t think that Saul would destroy ships with a VA on board as those that don´t have such a strong dude on them.

On another note, the fact that the future Akainu is entirely capable of having killing innocent women, children, elderly men, and even Marines on the off chance one of them might be an archaeologist is a damn good sign that they only put with assholes like Donquixote because they have to.

well basically, she got the reward because she can read poneglyphs but WG told citizen that's because she destroyed a bunch of marin ships.
I don't know if this will be the last flashback chapter because there are a few things that they leave open.
What happens to Olvia, Clover and the rest of the people trying to save the books? What happens to the members of old CP9, Spandine and the rest of them?
Also, I think we might see what happens to Robin between Ohara and Alabasta. Aokiji has most likely been following her for a while because he knows about the previous crews and stuff.
The only way I can see it not being a flashback in the next chapter, would be if Spandam starts telling the Straw hats what happens to her.
Anyway, this was a great chapter. Saul was a hero untill the end, some reason I hope it isn't the end for him but it most likely is.
I've never cried by reading before but if I did, then this chapter would have made me sob.
I think the flashback is pretty much over, the only thing i can see oda continuing with in the flashback on the next chapter would be explaining the reasoning behind how robin got her bounty. (she obviously didnt destroy a bunch of ships), or he may just leave it as implied that she got her bounty for being the sole ohara survivor and that destroying the ships was a lie (unless it actually does happen after she leaves). Otherwise i can see it switching back to enies lobby while the moment is still emotional.

I think there will be a little more of the Flashback explaining why the destruccion of the Ships was blamed on Robin , what happened to Sauro since he is not dead but Captured, and how Robin Joins his first Crew(and deals with them).
Also think that you're Right about Ao-kiji he's not that much of a Bastard ,If theres a BUSTER CALL (as expected) at the end of this Arc ,I think the Strawhats will be facing AKAINU and not Ao kiji as the Badass Opponent .

I think that there could be more chapters to this flashback, though it is rather unlikely. Perhaps showing about how she got around with those criminal organizations that were destroyed, as Ao Kiji said.

To me, Kuzan's sense of justice is unique, but I think he respects Smoker as a friend who's not a puppet. Kuzan has a job to do; he's a vice-admiral, after all, but he realizes that absolute cruelty is not the way to police a world...
I still think Akainu's power is lava-based. One reason he wears the hood and hat could be to keep himself from being blinded. Lava is about 2000+ degrees Celsius; the light from the flames could blind anyone.
I dunno about Kizeru. He should have made an appearance already, but he hasn't... which still makes me wonder if Saul did survive and was brainwashed. It would be an inner demon battle for Robin to fight when the Mugiwara finally reached Marijoi if that was true.... or Luffy himself, if Saul is indeed his grandfather. Having to defeat someone that was so kind to you is rather heartbreaking to anyone.
The thing is, Kizeru's Shilouette looks nothing like Saul. Akainu and Aokiji fit their shilouettes; if you look, Akainu has his hood down in his shillouette.

Mind-blowing about sums this chapter up.
It wasn't just the story either. For some reason it just felt poetically beautiful reading it… The whole backdrop of a dark, burning island on those last few pages and those battleships captured a pretty unique feel. As sappy and nonsensical as that may sound.
Kuzan/Aokiji rose a little bit in my respect level. He's still pretty much a coldhearted bastard, but he obviously carries a slight hint of personal justice (He pretty obviously despised Sakazuki/Akainu's methods). I guess he just needs someone to beat it into him or something. For some reason I'm hoping for a Luffy/Aokiji rematch.
And Saul... Just, wow. I'm almost hoping he does reenter the story in some way, as utterly unlikely as it is. He was just that awesome.
Just read the translation for this chapter after viewing the RAW. All I can say is this is one helluva flash back. This truly is a tear jerker, it wasn't untill sauro mentioned to robin that one day she'll find nakama to protect her. That line had me teary eyed. I haven't been so emotionaly moved since the norland the liar flashback and choppers flash back.
This has to be the best written flashback of them all, it definatly goes to show just how much Oda is improving, he was great before and now he is..(gonna have to make a new word describe his awesomness)!!

Well, as I said in the "Buster Call" thread, it is an option. However I think with proper propaganda it works well. You have to remember that Clover and the others aren´t no diabolic super power fighting monsters, but archeologists. That alone should make people ask questions, but the propaganda that spreads the words that they are demons can equally be spread about the rest of Ohara too.
In other words, the demon explanation is a lie because the archeologists aren´t such people. But the propaganda works. So why not say that the entire population of Ohara was like that. It would be as much a lie as if it would be just reduced to frame Clover and his guys with the label demons.

This is actually why I think the propaganda works. She is 8 years old and the WG frames her as a Devil Girl. And actually it works. People aren´t running around screaming "no way such an innocent child could be like that". Nope, she get´s considered to be exactly what the WG wants her to be considered as. So they could spread the same lies about everyone else that died, even about those innocent kids.
The plausible propagandic explenation of the WG could be "We we´re lucky to catch Ohara off guard. That´s how we could defeat those demons. The only one who saw us coming was that little kid Nico Robin and it immediately sank 6 of our strongest ships. Now if an 8 year old girl can do that to a Marine HQ fleet, imagine what the all the Demons of Ohara could do to the entire world."
With such an explenation the world wouldn´t be even bothere that maybe kids died back then. The propaganda might try to explain that all Ohara kids were like Robin. Propaganda is a very evil thing but unfortunally it really works that way.

Ah now I get it. Well, I think that Akainu doesn´t have to say much about it anyway. I just see him as a good soldier. He finished of that ship at Ohara because it was in the interest of the Gorousei that no archeologist escapes. And if the Gorousei consider that it is the only way to keep the world in tact if they work together with pirates (Shichibukai) then Akainu will probably obey that order too as the good soldier he is. Just my take on it.

Isn´t it obvious? He returned with the others. It´s clear that he wasn´t on the same ship as the refugees from Ohara. Robin's story with the government chasing her down reminds me a little of Les Miserables…Being forced into a life of crime, then changing her ways by the grace of her new friends, but still being hunted down for her sins by people who are unyielding in their rigid pursuit of law and justice.
That was great. I see a Robin Vs Akainu fight in the near future.
That was a nice way to possibly end the flashback, with her going out alone, but I think it would have been cooler to cut back to the present and showing her Nakama to end it.
Although I guess they still could do that since we have to tie up Sauro's story right? I mean he's just frozen, Kiji didnt kill him. Spandine is also up to something. So yeah probably more more chapter that deals with that.

I seriously don´t see that raising any questions. I mean this was a very important mission he just accomplished just as his superiors expected him to do so. And 20 years have passed ever since. Wouldn´t it be a bit out of place if he after all those years would get a promotion?
I mean if Kuzan and Sakazuki could get promoted, why not him?
