Ha, great campaign, Hiroy!
And the reference is from the movie/book "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs," no? Never seen the film, but I didn't think it was that obscure–it's not really a title to forget once you've heard it. ^^

I loved Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs! <3 It's such a cute little movie! Flint Lockwood was an adorable character, and the story was interesting. It's amazing they made the movie by referencing the original children's book, which was much simpler.
Well, you've got my vote then. That movie was just too cute.
You are right Vee. Maybe it's just me vs the opposing side.
And Sai. You read the book? I wanted to after seeing the movie. Which was unexpectedly good.
I've never read the book, sadly, but I do know that the book was 10x simpler than the movie. I do wanna read it one day. <3
The movie is one of my faves~ I think it's even got it's own club (or 20) on dA.
Simpler? You mean like a storybook with pictures and large fonts?
I'll have to check the film out; judging by the reviews, it appears to be a slightly-underappreciated gem. I remember it being available to stream on Netflix, so I'll check & see if it's still there tonight. ^^
The book looks like it had some pretty impressive art, I might add.
By the way, how long did it take you to draw that campaign? I have a sneaking suspicion you draw fast.
It should be still there on Netflix and I'm sure you'll like it. And it looks like I better find the ebook for that as it should be easy enough to find and torrent.
And.. Does it look that bad? I made it before the 2 hour deadline I set for myself. If not, then I'm getting a little better at speeding through stuff.
Are you kidding? It looks great! Especially for under 2 hours, holy hell. Unreal. So I'd say your speedart is improving marvelously. Also, I was curious–do you draw most of your art digitally, or is it traditional art that's been scanned and cleaned? Because I find that your art has that sharp, saturated quality that makes me think digital, but it also has an organic, sketch-y look that makes me think it's been drawn and inked. ^^
Simpler? You mean like a storybook with pictures and large fonts?
Well, no. I mean the scientific stuff. I'm pretty sure they didn't exist in the original, haha.
Oooh~ cool! So that's what the book looks like. :D
@Sai: Ohh. But the science in itself is very very simple.
@Vee: Hmmm… It's all drawn by hand with some minor effects in Photoshop. I'll make a little collage in a minute. It would show the differences between a raw scan and digital edits. It's nothing heavy, but they benefit me.
Oh yeah~ Hiroy, I'll have the next comic page up today. I almost finished outlining it, but I've got to add in the details, words, all that crap. So… in, like, four-five hours. (I've got chores to do before I finish it, lol)
@Sai: Good luck with the slave labor. Your reward would be me happily reading your comic later :)

For the top 2, I used a tiny tiny amount of Guassan Blur to blend the hatching a bit while keeping the lines sharp. Other than that, I used Cruves to darken the Sharpie marker spots.
the 3rd… Just greyscale and Curves to darken the lines. Ohh. I also cropped it.
4th. Screentone, coloring in blacks with a mouse, and distorting a bit to fit in template.

Plus my mom got me three of this german chocolate that's also pretty cheep and tastes awesome. Whooo~

Aaaaah, so that's how you do it. You sneaky little devil.
Though, I do some of that too, but only a little. I just add a bit of contrast to my traditional stuff to make the lines cleaner and all that nice stuff.
Ah, I see! Interesting–it looks like you use a technique similar to what I did when I used to clean doujinshi scans for an LJ group. Very nice! It really adds that extra polish to your final piece. :D
Do you have any all-digital art? I can't remember if you said you have a graphics tablet or not. If you can draw digitally without one, you definitely have my respect--I find drawing with a mouse utterly impossible.
@Sai: We gotta cheat sometimes, though sometimes it looks off. Like panel 3 in the last comic. A.King's head and neck looks pressed and small in the final version. I have to be very careful.
@Vee: And… eh... I haven't made anything all digital since the end of 2009 to the begining on 2010. My sister just hogs the the tablet to herself, even though we both bought it. I can use it, but she have said things that made me think that I waste my time. She actually uses it to make money from commissioners while I just find whatever little time I can to even practice or experiment to myself.
That said, here's some 100% digital stuff from 2009

I desperately want paint stuff in my own time so badly.
Edit: And no… Drawing with a mouse? I have to be out of my mind.

Haha, so true. xD But hey, at least it looks good!
Also, daaaamn, that Oars looks damn fine. k;kg;ahkghak;g u

You know, I might've been offended by this had you said it a few months ago. But now? Tablets all the way baby~
You convert easily.
It didn't happen in one night. lol It was over a few months. Though when I'm drawing on mspaint, I prefer to use a mouse since I have greater control of all the pixels that way.
Whoa Hiroy, Sai is right–that Oars is amazing! The shading and linework is lovely–ha ha, you even added highlights to his staples! Now that is attention to detail! And hey, it may not be my place to say so, but just ignore your sis if she's being disparaging of your work. You have talent, and you deserve just as much time on the tablet as she does–even if you have different skill levels. Well, maybe somewhere down the road you could invest in your own tablet, and you won't have to share. Because your digital work is great, and I'd definitely like to see what you're capable of once you've had some time to seriously sit down and practice with it. ^^
@Sai: Wait--you used to draw with a mouse?? My hat's off to you, then! I've tried drawing with a mouse in the past and it was a truly ugly affair, lol
Lol, yeah, I drew with a mouse up until… well, I can't really remember. I think my Ember Mclain, Dorathea and Penelope Spectra (characters from Danny Phantom) in dresses pic was the last one I did with a mouse... It's easy if that's what you've been using for years, which is basically what happened. I've only been using a tablet for a fraction of the time I've been using a mouse.
I'm almost scared of what I'm capable of in digital Vee. That Oars pic put me on an artblock for a long while because I thought I'd never top it. But I've grown since then and I see lots of places I can improve in. Thanks for the supporting words. I'll find some way to get around my sis.
Are you planning on doing anything digital soon? o:
Also, thrid page is up~
Other than coloring stuff and practicing rough linework. Nothin much.
Well, I hope you post whatever you do~ It'll be interesting, and we can offer some critiques. c:
Critiques would be the greatest gift ever. Seriously.
They are, aren't they? Ha~ <3
Yes. I barely get them.
I always try to get a critique out of my mom, lol. But she never knows what to say since she's not an art buff. Though I think she's learning because she said something akin to 'wow, that shading looks cool!' when I showed her a picture.
Well then, once you post some digital progress stuff, I'd love to give you a critique. c:
I understand where you are coming from. My mom looks at anything I do and say it's good, buit I don't take it to heart or anything. I always want to know what's wrong. Even now. I see every thing I do is a stepping stone to look back and reflect on. That way I can make whatever audience I have all the more satisfied with seeing my stuff.
I basically try to probe her for information whenever I show her something. But it usually end in failure, alas.
I think it's impossible for me not to see all my work as something that's helped me become better till now. Simply because I keep everything I draw and I frequently look them over. I just love seeing how I've improved over the years, and I can't wait to see how much I'll improve myself in the future.
Part 11: I'm reeeally nitpicking here, but add one more comma to "think, think**,** think!" Or make the commas exclamation points, but I think either works fine.
Part 12: "Where are you two off too?" should be "to" and the "c" in "announcement" looks too much like an "e." Also, punctuation marks usually go inside the quotation marks. So it should be "we we." The principal's line should say "separate."
Part 13: Writing looks particularly cramped in the top panels. Allegations is correct, but I think the "g" could look better. It should be "Wait!!" and Leo should say "Allow me to join your party**,** brave commander." Syn's line should be "Hey! Pipe down!" In the text panel, you have a couple non-chat-speak typos, but I'm gonna overlook it because people do that all the time when sending text messages.
I love the design for Evi's hall monitoring outfit. It reminds me of Impel Down for some reason. I also really like the principal. The sense I get is that he's a really nice guy but can also seem intimidating, albeit in a comical way for the readers.

Ah. My trusty unofficial editor. Thank you Mari. If there's anything you want me to draw you, pass me a request.
As for the chatspeak part, I admit that I'm not too familiar with it… So I end up writing my own. Even though it's not really heavy. And yes. Evi's hall monotor design is based of 3 different police outfits I found through searching google.
And thanks again for the notes. I think I'll work on it after I'm done wrapping up this arc. I plan a short break after I'm done to work on the setting the of the next arc as I haven't touched it yet. Editing would be a good pastime.
A r-request?! Aww, that's nice of you to offer. =w=
Hmm~ I should think of something other than Crocodile… Well, I've always wanted to see a picture of gangsta Eneru break-dancing, with "God" bling and his Spacey Homeys cheering him on in the background with this spray-painted on the brick wall behind him:
!
Design made by Apple Genocide
… If that's not too much to ask. <__<
That's a crazy request. I'll do it, but not anytime soon.If I do something like that, I'd want to spend as much time as a can on it.
Yeah there's no rush. I'm just appreciative that you're willing to give a shot, especially when I want so many little details included. I don't know if bananas and the moon can also be incorporated as well (possibly in graffiti-form), but whatever the result, I'm sure it'll be awesome.
Cheap little cut I made for a graphic on my Tumblr sketch blog. I'm close to done modifying it. Cargo theme is nasty in terms of customizing. I'm stuck on changing the properties for that damned "next & previous" nav link.
Cute~ <3
^hehehe.
Alright guys. Here's the thing. I find myself stuck not knowing what I should be drawing when I have a decent amount of time to draw. Now I need a favor from the Synful Syn readers.
If there's any questions you can ask a character, or any questions reguarding the comic itself… ask them. It could give me a little something to do while I warm up my mind.
What would I ask the characters? … hmm. That sounds like a fun little idea... though I have no idea what to ask them currently. But maybe I should do that too. lol
That's the plan. Something a little fun. I'm always interested in the curiously of the reader.
This one is for both Syn and Leo: How do you evaluate the strange life forms known as Lady Gaga, your Creator and sand bees?
EDIT: And to be selfish, I'll ask one more, but this time to the Digger Girl: How do you avoid a hive of sand bees while digging and have you ever had to do battle with them during your quest for gold?
Hahah. Good questions. I send it to them after I'm done with this page. (doing one now actually)
This is sickening.
This is the reason I'm not camping. Doomed match from the start.

New comic page.

Oooh, foreshadowing. Cool. :D I like the convo between the secretary and King. And I'm loving Syn and Leo's interactions more and more~
And, oooh~ Who's that? :ninja:
Hehe. It should be no secret who anyone is right now. That's Liu. We learn alot about her in the next ones.
I know, I'm just being silly lol.
Yay~
Liu looks a little like Velma.
Also, out of those three One Piece characters, I'm sticking with Otohime. She's impressed me the most.
She looks alot like Velma after all those redesigns actually. I suppose it's just another influence as she's one of my favorites in the SD series.
And, I don't mind the match much as I did earlier anymore. I was just pissed that the multi-vote decision came out of bloody nowhere. Sure it would have been a given one character alot more edge due to splitting loyalties if it was one solid vote, but I honestly believe it would have been better to settle things that way. I just wished we event mods attempted to override that last minute decision… It was pretty obvious that those before the match were sticking with just one and expecting the option to NOT multivote... but alas, my voice almost never matters when it comes to decision making.

It's a bit big… I'll answer the questions related to the sand bees and Digger girl in a separate one
Also... some old thing I did before I rebooted Synful Syn
http://edyics.eecafe.net/Comics/SynfulSyn/Pilot/0-the_recap.png
That clears the part in the Leo's response to the Creator question.
… strange answers. lol Also, nice avvie.
btw, I'm reuploading the pic right now... :ninja:
