!
Well I started reading again because I was tired of actually waiting for 4 in the stores, but luckily I found it today at borders downtown. Read 4,5, and bought 6. After I started reading online.
DAMN THIS SERIES IS GOOD.
I really don't have any complaints other then the long long staredown to death waiting for Musashi vs Sannosuke (that's his real name I think. I forgot his reffered to name though. Somehting with an I) and mr. "I like imposing people." I thought that he was going to be cool at first, you know redeem himself kinda deal, but I hate him.
I was skeptical about Jotaro at first, but I like him so far.
Well I guess I will catch up tommorow(well later today since it's 2:30). Only at volume 12.
Sannosuke?
You mean Inshun?
Anyways your about to get into the Kojiro storyline, good stuff until the mindless end. But THAN…comes ..the sublime volumes.
I bought volume one. The artwork is fantastic but the story felt a little lacking so far. I'll trust that it gets better, but I can't for the life of me find volume 2.

Thats how I felt too.
The first two books are a little wobbly storytelling wise, the next two are a bit better. The next 4 are where it finds its sea legs and after that your golden.
Just caught up. Man this was awesome. I found the Kojiro flashback really boring at first, but then it turned awesome.
A match between Kojiro and Musashi excites the crap out of me, but also kind of saddens me because Kojiro's pretty much going to die. He probably is stronger at the moment, but when they finally face Musashi will win.
As for this current arc. Holy hell it's awesome. Everyone just went down "fast".
Though it looks like
! Ueda is still alive
so Ritual is back up (????)
and 238 is out
!
! battle finally coming to end?
The entire school is dead except for Kurando, Ueda, and that one guy who got his arm cut off by Denshihiro during training.
It was long and pretty tedious, but when you actually think on it thats pretty impressive.
And now the finale…
gah yesterday i wanted to buy vol 1 but they had from vol 2 to vol 23. shit.
That's the situation everywhere I look. They have pretty much EvERY volume available EXCEPT the first. I rly love Inoue-sensei as a mangaka and want to check this out,but samurai stuff seemed like it might be too cliche or if I'm gonna commit this much to a samurai series maybe Blade of the Immortal might be a better choice. I dunno, I rly love Musashi Miyamoto as well, but from what I've seen of this it's another Berserk…takes a bunch of volumes to rly get to anything good...is it worth it? How many volumes before it picks up?

Who the hell told you it was like Berserk?
And how would Berserk be a series that takes a bunch of volumes to get any good?
RAW is out, seems like a flashback of somekind
Yeah Ueda's flashback
and the end of the Yoshiokas
It was epic but there had to be an end
Soooo long Yoshiokas see you in the afterlife :'( snif snif
Its all over.
Entirely.
Yoshioka battle end.
Go get 242.
Is it?
Thank you god.
I can't believe how likeable and charismatic Inoue managed to make the Yoshiokas. I'm actually pissed at Musashi for killing them all. In the book, I couldn't give two shits about any of 'em.
Dammit.
I know this is a massive bump, but recently chapters 1-206 of Vagabond have been added to onemanga. This is good for people who've never read it, or even need to read some chapters they couldn't find before. I finally got to read some that I missed.
Here's the link: http://www.onemanga.com/Vagabond/
So there's no excuse for no one to read this great series.
I wished they would've done that sooner instead of only adding the later chapters that that had prior to that update.
YO ITS OUT (double chapter)
http://www.onemanga.com/Vagabond/244/
! Musashi's cut to the head looks nasty. I remembered seeing the bone when he first got it
There two more raw chapters out, 246 and 247.
Yaaaaaaay Inoue is on a roll.
Little char dvlpmnt for Matahachi and Otsu , well from time to time it's passable.
And Zephos , Lobolover lover or what??
It bothers me to no end how Musashi's personality is pretty much completely altered for the manga. Of course the manga's only the author's rendition of the original, but it doesn't feel like reading about the same character at all.
The art is so good, though, that it alone makes Vagabond very much worth reading, and Musashi massacring the Yoshioka school is probably the finest fight in any series ever.
I revive this thread from it's dead slumber.
This is by far one of my favorite series. My reasons for liking it are rather simple: It's battles, the psychological aspects the characters go through, character development and the developments are very noticeable from how Musashi went from a berserk sword swinging idiot to now using strategy and philosophy.
What are you talking about?
Of course Vagabond is awesome. Very very awesome.
Both art and story is incredible.
I've gotten the first four VizBigs and couldn't be happier. It was an impulse buy; I hardly knew anything about the series, but I bought a new one every week. Meaning I need to get volume five this week. God damn this series is amazing, so much so that'd I'd feel guilty getting ahead via online, but also, I want to get ONLY the VizBigs of this so after I get volume 5 I'm going to have to switch to online. Fucking classic story, amazing characters, philosophical, gripping story…I couldn't ask for more.
I want to get the viz big volumes of this, are there translations good?
iam also started vagabond (cause of you GM ) and iam right now finished with vol.3..
its a decent seinen so far, iam expecting more from him in future chapters.. i hope i won
t be dissappointed
your not going to be dissapointed but just to let you know after a certain amount of volumes the story switches from Miyamoto Musashi to Sasaki Kojiro but don't worry the story doesn't become unbalanced because of this.
Animenewsnetwork is reporting that Inoue confirmed that Vagabond is going end sometime this year.
for real, takezou better fuck that chick before it ends.

Just as long as the ending doesn't feel rushed i'm fine with that.
Now I wonder if musashi will try to lead a more peaceful life and put the path of the sword behind him or try to find out which one is stronger between him and sojiro. Honestly I hope he takes the peaceful path he seems to be leaning in that direction more so than ever before.
I actually think the last few books have been really slow.
Come on, get on with the final fight already.
Yeah it is kinda annoying as how slow it feels but if you look at the positive. Were getting more character development out of Musashi, Sojiro, Matahachi and surprisingly Ittosai. plus any other character that I neglected to that short list.
I am not really pleased with this. Today Vagabond is one of the few best ongoings, superb with plot, characterisation and art. And seeing it end would really leave an empty gap. I hope Inoue continues his career with something just as awesome alonside Real.
I guess, considering the manga structure, it should have a fulfilling finale, and the battle with Sasaki Kojiro would be quite a definition of that. No one would really want to see an old hermit Musashi dying from cancer.
Although, I presonally wish to see Musashi of his Nito Ryu times. Oh well.
for real, takezou better fuck that chick before it ends.
Yeah, you don't understand this.
Well it seems like it really will end.
I didn't read the news in this thread but when I read the last chapter, I sensed the nearing of the final battle.
It will be sad to see such a great manga finish. But yeah everything has an end. I only hope it will end with a bang.
I think he should take another classic novel and re-write it in manga format….how about...takehiko presents: to kill a mockingbird
I read recently and finished the 1st vol (Omnibus edition) of Vagabond, it was really good, but I want to know, is it really a weekly manga? Did, at some point Inoue made it too a monthly manga, or was he hurt or something? Just curious
It's weekly but has a lot of hiatuses. They're usually not too long, but go in groups. Like 4 weeks of chapters then four weeks off, stuff like that.
He probably uses these 4 weeks off to work on new chapters and possibly read Musashi to see how he should incorporate it into the manga medium.
Or so that's what I think.
Didn't he work simultaniously on another manga? 'Real' if I m not mistaken.
Omnibus edition??? Do you mean the Vizbig edition?
turns out vagabond got pulled from OneManga per Viz's request…
Viz actually does a spectacular job on Vagabond and is more or less up to date, so really niggas should get their act together and pay.
Seriously, it's probably the series that they do the best job on.

I would buy the volumes right now but there are 2 things preventing me from doing so.
1. I have no money, i'm not like these kids who read these series online for free if it's a series I like and I'll buy them. If i'm not mistaken didn't viz like the idea of scanlations cause it would introduce more readers?
2. If I had money I wouldn't blow it all away on manga, sure i'd love to but i'm currently in dept. I need to be a responsible adult and pay that debt off before I can go out and spend money the way I want to.
This programme is so, so very good. Inoue is boss. I really like how he thinks about his manga, how he believes that characters drive the plot.
By the way, the translations for 297/8 are up on NSN's site. The scans should be coming shortly as well.
Seriously, it's probably the series that they do the best job on.
Basically yeah, VizSig's localisation is absolutely superb. Hell, anything involving Yuji Oniki is basically aces.
