Alright folks this sucks. I go into suncoast today and i find all their manga is gone! All of it! I ask the clerk where did the manga go, He said apperently there is some type of argument between suncoast and thier people who distrubite the manga to them. All manga has been shipped to the warehouse until they solve the problem. This sucks. Has this happened anywhere else or is it just my location
No more manga at suncoast?

Shit.
I have a suncoast in a mall near my house that serves as my Anime and Manga Heaven <3. So this isn't good. I will have to check it tomorrow and see how the situation is.
-
Wait. I was in there yesterday and it was still manga-tastic. Maybe it's just a local thing?
-
Y'know, I don't know about ya'll, but the manga at all the Suncoasts I've been too are actually marked up from cover price anyway, so I see it as no great loss if their overpriced manga gets the boot. Then again, Suncoast is overpriced anyway, so maybe people are just used to it.
-
Suncoast refuses to sell Berserk, so screw em.
-
Are you kidding me? The suncoast I know is chock full of the Berserk manga!
-
That really does sound like a disagreement between yor local store and the shippers.
Do you not have a decent-sized bookstore nearby? Because I would never buy my manga from a Suncoast – as Captain Panda said, they overprice books.
-
I was wondering what was missing at my Suncoast today. And I do remember seeing some Berzerk manga in the Suncoast there.
Maybe your Suncoast is run by bastards, Zephos?

Ya i totally agree. The only time I ever buy anything from suncoast is when they have a sale and even then it still seems a little pricey. -
The suncoast around here sell everything from Pocky to fruitsbaskets hats with ears to Pillows cds. I'd never wish them out of buisiness. <3
-
Just go to Barnes and Noble or Borders instead of POCKY-TASTIC Otaku land Suncoast.
-
hmm so its only my location huh well that sucks. Also i've never noticed suncoast having over priced books for movies yes, but not manga
-
@Cap'n:

Seconded. That's where I get all my manga from. Only problem is the local one doesn't get Berserk.. so I have to go out of town to buy those. And Barnes and Noble is so much better than Books-a-million, since our Books-a-million has yet to order any Jojo or Eyeshield 21.
Walden Books is even better, but the only one we had closed down. That's where I go when I go out of town to get Berserk. They have about three or four ceiling-to-floor shelves full of manga.

I had thought the Suncoast near me had slowly been removing it's manga, but I later learned that people were stealing it because of the high price tag…
-
Yeah, Waldenbooks is great too.
-
Waldenbooks, Barnes and Noble, and Borders all have great comics sections usually.
A local one near me even carries a few Tankoban for christs sake.
Rarely do they get touchy about the Ultra explicit titles either. -

Pocky is like twice as expensive at suncoast. :p

My Suncoast doesn't have manga right now either. All I can say is good. They don't mark the manga up (although they do mark up pocky and stuff) but I can't STAND Suncoast. I used to work there, and while this might not be true for every store, mine was horrible. We had to preassure people into buying really expensive things, and tell them semi-lies about reserve prices. If we didn't meet the numbers, we were written up. They also had newletters that were supposed to tell us how to recommend stuff to different fans, anime included, and as an anime fan I thought they were pretty off in that section. It was just a crappy summer job, but it was really bad, and the discount wasn't worth that crap.
Right now as I am getting my Grad school situation together, I work at a Waldenbooks (which is connected to Borders.) They are a MUCH better company. MUCH better. They have their "plus sales", but we do not have to anal probe people like in my Suncoast. They are MUCH more customer friendly, and plus, they are AWESOME to their employees, and provide great medical, vacation, and discount benefits. It's honestly the best job I've ever had.
We have a GREAT manga section, one that is heavily kept up with in my store since half our staff read it themselves. The only thing is, we do get shipments later than Suncoast. But I think a lot of it is Suncoast puts it out before street date. (Maybe that's what this problem is about?)
Also, my store has a "manga card" thing - basically whenever you buy a manga, you get a stamp, and at 10 stamps, you get $10 store credit. Yeah, it's a lot to buy first, but for people who buy a lot of manga, that can be useful. Be sure to bug your local store for one.

This post is deleted!

Why is this a big deal? There is no Suncoast in my city, so when I get the manga, I would buy them from Citadel mall or Chapel Hills mall comic store called "Dragons and Heros" or I'll get them from Barnes and Noble or Borders Bookstore so I really don't have to worry about Suncoast not selling. Warp, do you have a mall that has a comic store or a Barnes and Noble? Borders Bookstore? Waldenbooks? If you do you can buy manga from them ;)
-
Yeah waldenbooks is a great place also. Though the one in colorado used to get in books like a week early this one tho doesnt. Just a couple days. Sometimes suncoast has them earlier so i just shop their
@ at joekido yeah i shop every where for manga tho see it above why.

I've never actually bought any really. I just like to hold the box up to my friend and say 'pocky!' Actually, I don't think I've ever bought anything from Suncoast…
Anyway, there's always EBAY and online type junk. And Hastings (which refuses to carry One Piece, at least the one locally does).
