If you can play online and have intentions of being good at the game, by all means get it.
If you're going to play alone (single player) and don't have anyone who's really into fighting games at all, you may want to consider renting it if you really want to get it.
Few More Months: The Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Thread

-
Alrighty, then.
Red Dead Redemption it is.
And I'll try to rent this. -
What they said.
Fighting the computer by yourself eventually gets really boring. Fighting games are ALWAYS about community and competition with real bodies, whether it's online or (preferably) in the same room.
This is by no means a bad game.. but I don't find it to be worth the asking price at the moment. (and I found that out the hard way).
BTW, Red Dead Redemption is a great choice and totally worth your money. (also take a gander at LA Noire commin this week too).
-
Apparently, the game's producer wanted more Darkstalkers and Mega Man characters in the game, and we're apparently going to get news on the game's future soon. I'm hoping that we'll find out who the next DLC characters are going to be, but it's been so long since we heard about the first two that it's getting less and less likely.
-
It'd never happen, but I'd lose my shit if oldschool Mega Man and Jedah were added just because of that comment.
-
Kinda makes me wonder just how much of the game is Niitsuma's direction vs. Capcom backdoor shinaneganery.
-
It'd never happen, but I'd lose my shit if oldschool Mega Man and Jedah were added just because of that comment.
LOL at 'lose my shit'.
As much as I want Mega Man Classic (sounds like a soda), I think people would riot if Mega Man X didn't make it in.
Can't we just have Zero instead of X AND Zero? Zero is so much better than X in every way.
-
Agreed. I just want Jedah, even if I know it's never gonna happen…
-
Holy fucking jumping Jesus fucking Christ: http://www.hadoken.net/?p=3302
@Hadoken:
To be taken with a grain for salt, a rumot surfaced today about Capcom announcing a sequel to MVC3, dubbed Super MVC3, at E3 this year. I would have completely ignored this rumor if it wasn’t started by Lupinko, the same guy who announced the ssf4 existence and roster months before its official announcement. Lupink was also the man who leaked the complete MVC3 roster, Mortal Kombat roster, DLC and stages, before the official announcements. So, you be the judge.
What do you guys think? Would you buy a Super MVC3? what sort of upgrade should it have to warrant your purchase? Let us know in the comments section -
I'm not going to say it. I'm not going to say it. I'm not going to say it. I'm not going to say it. I'm not going to say.
I'm not going to say it…..yet.
-
Capcom: Here you go! Have a couple more characters!
-
The question is, how much will they deliver?
-
God dammit, Capcom, "Super" is Street Fighter's thing. It's fine there. When you start "Super"ing all your fighters, it–... Ah, fuck it.

just started to play this game and so far my best is Arthur,Wesker, and Amaterasu
hopefully there are people still online playing this gameEDIT: now my best is Spiderman,Wolverine, and Deadpool XD
-
The more I play MK the less I like this series.
Real fucking talk.
When SSF4: AE hits my face I might gasp end up parting with MVC3 completely.
-
I still look at this series with disappointment, but I still have love.
But….I haven't felt this good playing a game like Mortal Kombat in SUCH a long time.
-
I'm just disappointed that a game that featured my beloved Amaterasu didn't have more in it.
-
Real fucking talk.
Go back behind your desk and keep flipping through your rolladex to look like you're actually working, you're not Sarus.
-

I agree, and I have more characters in this game to be a fan of.
Go back behind your desk and keep flipping through your rolladex to look like you're actually working, you're not Sarus.
:cwy:
Let….let Gekko keep talking like Sarus. It's okay.
-
Incidentally, I was thinking about this game the other night, and I actually popped it in for a little bit this morning since I knew I had to get it updated anyway. I only now found that I had been using the wrong assist with Wesker's OTG Samurai Edge the whole time.
At first I thought Dormammu's Purification was the best choice, but Chris' Machine Gun works so much better opens a window for more Wesker shenanigans.
Sentinel is the most broken what now?
-
Go back behind your desk and keep flipping through your rolladex to look like you're actually working, you're not Sarus.
It's ok, I know you miss my N word too.
Don't gotta be an dick about it though.
-
Forgot how many dicks/spammers/sore losers there were in this game. Had some guy with 500 + wins and 70-ish loses rage quit on me and I sent him a message about the rage quit. Played him again right after that and he won and had the nerve to talk shit.
-
HAHAHAHAHAHA!
I'm sorry, this was worth reviving this thread!
-
Holy shit xD
-
just for that VJ 3 should be made
-
New news is bad news: Apparently there's rumors circulating about an updated version of MVC3 (I've heard Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Marvel vs. Capcom 3 EX more than anything) that will feature at least 12 new characters (not including Jill/Shuma) and reports are that Cyclops and Frank West are already confirmed.
-
Well…If they actually fix stuff this time around (online...fucking spectator mode...loose the charges for fucking SHADOW BATTLE) then I'll go with it.
On the other hand, I'd basically be saying "FUCK YOU CAPCOM! Another SUPER TURBO HYPER EDITION game.....!? Here take my money."
-
Jesus, it hasn't even been a year.
…....Can't I have MK10 first with a sequel to the storyline?
I'll consider it but it better have good characters. Cyclops and Frank don't even begin make me even consider getting it. Strider would work.
I played this the other day with Sarus. Got my ass handed to me mostly but....I had such a migraine from playing it. I wasn't frustrated or angry, I had fun (namely since Morrigan shenanigans are hilarious), but it was just hurting my eyes.
sigh ......What happened?
-
My problem is I bought this game new for 60 bucks and basically paid for a fucking beta of it. Then, 6 months later, we get the "full" game for an extra 20-40 bucks? Come on. This shit will have to have some great characters, an actual story or new and fun modes, and spectator mode for it to even pry me away from MK9/SSFIV for a day.
Edit: BTW, played earlier and lost twice to Tron assist spammers. With other games bullshit you can figure our strategies and such (like Kano spammers) but how do you stop a practically invincible assist move that is both a great defensive and offensive move.
-
I don't know. MK9 is SO not tournament friendly. It's pretty much dead. Complete crap.
But MvC3? Well, at least it's not unbalanced like MvC2.
/sarcasm
Yeah…you may have a cold, but HEY, at least you don't have AIDS! Then again, MvC2 didn't disappoint me as badly.
-
online…fucking spectator mode...
Wait. I haven't played this game in ages…but that still isn't fixed?
Seriously?
-
I could give less than two shits about the story personally, crossover games never warranted that much.
The more I played this game the more I've come to the realization that its one of the most polarizing fighting games out there right now. What I mean by that is really enjoyable but only on the most extreme levels, either if you just mash a bunch a buttons without any strategical investment or if you put in the hardcore time to learn all the complicated 100-hit combos.
For middleground players theres less of a satisfaction window win or loose.
I'll give 'em a chance to fix shit up and make a decent leap like SFIV-SSFIV, but if there aren't any big gameplay improvements…I'll just pass for Street Fighter X Tekken, that game is looking a lot better than I thought it would be.
-
Wait. I haven't played this game in ages…but that still isn't fixed?
Seriously?
This is exactly how I feel…
-
Is it worth paying for the last 2 characters that are in the PSN store?
my best has changed to Ameratsu,Morrigan and Felicia now with Team B being Morrigan,Spiderman and TronEDIT: Its actually Ameraysu,Haggar, and Felicia thats my best team lol
-
Who is up to play some MVC2??
-
Is it worth paying for the last 2 characters that are in the PSN store?
my best has changed to Ameratsu,Morrigan and Felicia now with Team B being Morrigan,Spiderman and TronNo, it is not. They will be included in the update pack (if the rumors are true), so instead of spending 10 bucks on 2 characters you might as well save that and spend 25 or on 12 plus characters.

-
The only reason I say story mode is because how they hyped that they had gotten Framk Tieri to be the writer of the game. Everyone thought that we'd get a story, especially with the "teaser" cutscenes that were shown and Capcom saying (if I remember correctly) that there'd be a much deeper story in MVC3 than previous titles.
-

Ouch 80 to 100 bucks for this game. That must have hurt your wallet.
With Sf4, there is the 60 bucks for SF4 + the SSF4 edition 20 bucks + the DLC costumes 2 to 4 bucks each + the SSF4 arcade edition dlc 15 bucks You could easily get to a 100 bucks for in order to play more or less the same game.
Before the DLC era, you would pay at most 60 to 70 bucks. Imagine if a SF4 fan buys all these stuff, it could cost him around 120 bucks.
-
Wait. I haven't played this game in ages…but that still isn't fixed?
Seriously?
Yeah, and Netherrealm gets shit for having bad netcode. Yet Capcom? GENIUSES!
-
To be fair… at least games in MvC3 online are smooth if both connections are good.
I've heard some terrible things about some MK matches.
But, that being said, not having Spectator Mode in 2011 is an embarrassment.
-
Not gonna lie but I cant even play online if my PS3 isnt wireless for MK9 :X
-
Yeah, MK matches WERE bad, but to be fair, at least Netherrealm Studios is smaller group of programmers than Capcom. Consider that this is Capcom, I see no excuse.
Maybe it's just me, but SF4 (not Super) had horrible netcode.
-
SF4's netcode was definitely inferior to SSFIV.
But let's be honest… SSFIV is pretty much the slickest fighter out there as far as features and netcode (especially considering how amazing the game looks)
But I do get that Netherrealm is a smaller company, but I wouldn't wholly excuse them because of that.
A long time ago a small 15 (probably) person team of programmers got together and built one of the largest gaming nets currently in existence.
That company was Blizzard and the gaming net I refer to is Battle.net.
-
True, true.
Again, I'm not talking shit about SSF4. SSF4 is a superior game in every way, shape, and form.
….....But I do like MK9 better for ulterior reasons. May not be the best game ever, but it was made with love. <3 Hell, SSF4 felt like it was made with love.
MvC3 just felt like, "People have been bitching for the past ten years! Let's shut them up and get our paycheck!" Amazing hype, yet poor delivery.
-
Preach on Brother/Sister.
:V
-
Seems people have forgotten how horrible online was for MvC3 in the beginning: No one remembers going to ranked match, having it search forever, finding a player, then being unable to connect? Seriously, it could take you a good 2-3 minutes just to connect to someone.
-
Pepperidge Farm remembers.
Sorry. Actually, I avoided online until I was done with about 75% of the offline stuff. So avoided the worst. Also: No. No one ever remembers online issues with games when they first came out.
-
Well, here you go then: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/115/1150933p1.html
