Before things get out of hand with excessive new threads, please post your ideas for a new thread here so that the subforum mods have the adequate time to review them and discuss before proceeding with the new threads. So far the new threads have been good ideas in general but it's always nice to make sure we all agree and to keep the board clean/easily readable for everyone with efficient topics of discussion. Blast away gentlemen/ladies.
Ideas for seperate threads under the subforum

I already asked about the Doctor Who one ;)
Anywho. The ones I have ideas for are:
Customs
General Review thread (Although this can just go on the normal one)
Bargains/Sales
Non-One Piece threads (DW, Dragonball, Kenshin etc.) Seperate or all bundled together (Although I can only update the DW since I have no knowledge of the others)I suppose somethings like 'What was the last toy you bought?' or 'What should I get next' could be ones. But not really necessary.
Would also be nice if a mod could make one for each pre-order. For example. Lets saaaay. Rayleigh POP. A week or two ahead a mod makes the topic for a Rayleigh POP pre-order thread. Then people can say 'I got it!' or 'Darn! I missed him! Anyone else get a spare?' etc. And then a week or two later the topic can be deleted. Since it's always different stuff it keeps the Collectibles thread from being spammed with people happy/complaining. Also means should such a new figure be released it means people don't have to scroll through 20 pages before finding out its out. And then being all 'aw crap. I missed it.' if it's always a new topic.

yeah i think a place to put Deals & Steals is a good idea for sure. I can probably take the reins on a customization thread… but i'll need a little time. I would love to take the first post on that so I can put up a general FAQ on what materials are needed and where to get them (if people don't mind).
I do think it's a good idea to discuss some topics for threads before people start posting them willy-nilly and getting repeats and whatnot. We can keep this place nice & neat if we try!
-
Reposting my list :)
Stickies
Disclaimer (AP not responsible etc)
FAQ (FAQS, collectible dictionary, chan irc ?….)
Webshops list (with rating/warnings. Maggie's on it ^^)
Release Diary (locked. Very much like the current first post of the Collectible thread as it is now) If possible, I'd like to take care of that since I'm already doing it for my bot on IRC.Threads
General discussion thread (our main thread)
**Pre-orders/**Orders (when a new item is open to reservation or released, and then out of stock, back in stock…. “Yay I got it....” “Nooo, I missed it” “Oh they’re back”, etc...)
Non OP Merch (or two threads: Anime / Manga and Others)
Thread for customization (AmeColle painting, the original figures some of us do, some tutorials even, Maggie could lead that one)The market place is tricky. I'd like to improve it an make the trades easier so I thought of those but of course if you've got better ideas it's would be nice :)
Market Place / Buying thread (ex WTB > WCF Bonney~ PM meh~. Works with quick sale too of course, like when you don't need a full post)
Market Place / Shops (one post per person) -
Ms Heart has the right idea. That way, new figure announcements/pre-orders won't drown out other discussions. We don't have to have one catch-all thread ^__^
-
also a thread for 'how to take photos' would be VERY useful here. We have a few members that come to mind that would be brilliant for that
-
Elisa brings the right info that's for sure. I would also love to see a photography topic ment for OP merchandise!
-
how About a thread for non OP items? like for Anime,TV,Movie, and comic memorabilia
-

Make it happen, the NON OP Merchandise topic!
-
I haven't been here long but I really like the idea of seperate marketplace threads for OP merch and non-OP merch. Its not that I don't like the other stuff or anything… just would be nice to have them seperate threads!
-

hmm i wonder if that would be hard for sellers, though… @_@ I think the mods are still trying to figure out a way to attack the marketplace and make it organized.
-
I don't think there needs to be any more than a buying and selling topic. I just wish there was a way to restrict it to one post per person.
Maybe allow crease his own topic XD
-
Naw, people should be able to "bump" a thread to remind others that stuff is still for sale. Not a day or 2 later, but maybe after a certain amount of pages has been added since the last post or something.
I agree on a "Crease" thread.
….OH CRAP! I just remembered I asked him to get me something and I've left him hanging....feel like crap now.
-
eh. I'd rather people bump to say if there is any change like items added. Not to just bump saying their items are still there. (Although I suppose if they have reduced the items price.)
-
I like the idea of Non OP merchs,
so we can see the release dates and what's new and coming figures other than OP (Marvel, DC, other anime, cartoons and games etc.)kudos to all you guys making these changes happen xD
-
:D I'm glad you like the ideas, and I think that a teaching thread for photos would be really nice. Just like the custom/paint/fix figures one.
And I understand the concern about the selling thread(s).
That's a bit why I thought of two selling threads. One for the 'big' selling posts where there should be only one post per person. To make that happen, the posters would have to follow the rules obviously and in case they don't, mods would have to delete duplicates. A seller would of course be allowed to delete his first post and make a new one if he feels that his shop really needs a bump.
The second would be the bumpable thread. There a seller from the previous thread could post that his shop have have been updated and link to it. Smaller sellers would also post for a split set or a few random items to sell or anything. Also buyer could post their requests there. It would be nice if Crease had his own post but wouldn't it be unfair to other 'big' sellers ?
-
I like Liz's idea for two joint marketplace threads^, and I'd love to have maggie host a customs thread __
I thought people were going to make a DB figure thread as well?
-
Oh and Sephirona, what about moving your Squidy thread here ? :)
For those who obsess over one or more character or a pairing~
I wanna see those shrines !If its not redundant with the main thread of course…
(Might be a good idea to include rules ? Like no character bashing and such~)

As long as it's ok for everyone to make topics for different chars. Then it's fair. Or do you mean a general topic for all chars? In which I don't really see how it needs it's own topic considering we have 'post your rooms' and the general chit-chat thread.
-

A thread for multiple characters? The original idea for all of them in one topic is already questionable.
Personally, I find it irritating and almost irrelevant if we're already going to have 'share your collection' threads. At the end of the day, OP Collectibles is more about the figures than fawning over characters. If you want to share pictures of your collection, you take it to the thread that is meant for that. We may have a subforum but the population isn't so big that we need 20+ threads scattering us all over the place.
-
Some nice ideas here i only hope there wont be to many topics.
I made the Webshops List / Feedback sticky btw.
-
Fangirling is what got me into collecting, but I see~
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Ah Redd, would you start the FAQ post ?
(if you do, I'd need a post for the IRC FAQ please ^^) -
Oh, actually, I think a fangirling thread would be awesome. Fanboying too. It wouldn't JUST be for Ace, obviously. And you could argue that there are other sections for fangirl posts here on APF but most of us specifically collect figures of our characters, (like Liz mentioned with our little character shrines heh) so I don't see why it's offtopic at all. We'll chat more about it on the irc first, I guess.
But I totally agree with Liz! We should have a fangirl/boying thread in some form or another for our figures, there are plenty of people who like specific characters, such as Dervish with her Croc shrine, etc. C:
-
It's not off-topic. It's just….we have a post pics of rooms thread. That encompasses pics of shrines etc. And if you wanna chat about the figures then the general topic suffices for that.
-

Thanks, red…slowly but surely i'm working on it XD
-
Not everyone has pics of shrines though, some people just don't collect single characters. That's sort of like saying we should all keep posting in the main collectibles thread because it encompasses all collectibles instead of having a new thread for specifics, heh.
-
I suppose could make a Fangirl and a Fanboy topic (two seperate ones to avoid arguments etc) and see how it goes. I still don't really see the point except to allow a small amount of people to squee about certain chars (if AP doesn't like general clubs for them I dunno if they'll like this either too)
Or like I suggested. A General Chit-Chat thread to just talk about older figures etc.
-
i agree the general thread or rooms thread would be the best place to post shrine photos
i think it would be best if we keep the threads minimal so we won't get lost or something, just my two cents c: -
Yes my original intention for the subforum was to keep a close watch of created threads to make sure everything is organized and efficient. There should be no need for so many excess threads if we can combine interests/make sure the threads have the proper themes. Keeps things looking clean and easier to maintain/find information. Organization details aside, the for sales threads does for sure need a revamp to make sure the spamming doesn't get out of hand. Maybe keep a minimum of a couple weeks before you can repost your sales and delete the original one….anyone that ventures outside that will have to suffer the mods' magical powers. =P
-
I'm glad you seem to agree with my list but I would like to talk of one thread in particular: the order/pre-order one (or "Go get them NAOOOO~").
Seeing the number of members increasing quite greatly and constantly, I think it is much needed to lessen the number of posts on the main thread.
The order/pre-order thread would be used only to inform the community about the opening of an order or a pre-order, whether the item is rare or not.
Links would be posted by anyone who see them first and members who managed to place and order will be able to say so on that thread (as well as those who didn't).That way, when WCF/POPs comes out, the main thread wouldn't move as fast as it does as of now.
I think that's all I had to say :)
-
That thread would be an excellent idea. I think it's a necessity to keep the general discussion to our normal talk versus having 5+ pages within a couple hours due to preorders/restocks of collectibles. This would make it easier for people to watch that thread that solely watch it for preorder/stock information also and keep the general discussion clean.
-
should that restocks/preorders thread also be for sales and whatnot? IE if you see a rare WCF go up on a site for next to nothing?
-
I think it would fit there too, Maggie :)
-
Oh by the way, is it me or can't the subforum (One piece Merch) be seen if your not logged in?
Is there any reason behind this?
-

Yes the intent of this was to make sure only registered users can view the subforum to make sure any information is only available for registered users.

And why exact was this the intent? Isn't it nicer to share information? Or is it a "protection" from possible bootleg/fake sellers?

Lurkers that don't contribute to the community were just refreshing our pages for the pre-order links we shared. No point in enabling that.
-
Elisaheart / Sensui, i'm really fond of the Pre-order thread. In addition to what Elisa said, I think it would be great to have on the first post , peoples unwanted p.o.p preorders for instance, because i see people not wanting their "extra" P.O.P while others are desperately looking for some lol so they can basically infrom the person inhold of the thread to list him/her on the first post to what's available. the person can then contact the other with the extra pre-order and then let the one in charge of the thread remove that order.
I think it's better than than just writing a comment that " I have an extra Marco and Law P.O.P, anyone want'em" . people do miss these comments sometimes XD and you can notice that in the collectibles thread~ .
This is just a suggestion that I think would be helpful to others ^^
-
I like that idea iomi. I sent a few PMs to folks and managed to snag a few that I missed out on ordering. Thanks again Xajen! ;)
I also tend to PM links to people looking for something now cause it suddenly vanished so the person I linked it for ended up missing out. Though that's probably just the way it is with OP stuff. It goes super fast!
-
Suggestion noted but I think you will find it more appropriate to use the new request/buying thread we're planning to set up (will work similarly to selling thread, I will explain further when I modify the subforum rules and kick off the new organization for the marketplace). It's nice to see people care about other collectors within the same community thumbs up.
-
How about Alina posts the first post of the Collectibles threadand it gets its own sticky? It's really really useful for everyone so no reason it shouldn't be. Obviously lock it so only she can post there.
-
It might be nice to see a "What's it worth / where did this come from?" section as I have some random opened One Piece items from many years ago that I am not to sure about and it would be nice to see if I could get some more info on them and maybe find a new home for them or swap them for other One Piece items.
-

post them in the general thread? Most people will know what they are.
-
You know what might be a good idea as well. Where the hell to get decent display cases. I don't know about everyone else, and obviously it depends on where you live too, but finding a good place is not easy. I've been planning to get mine from a retail store outfitter of all places :D

IDEA
Alter the "Shop X has Item Y" thread to be announcements of items ONLY, no chat. This way people can subscribe to the thread and get notifications only when an item appears on sale.
Very useful for the non irc'ers/people who can't F5 the forum all the time.
-
Moving this over from the general thread . . .
I thought my idea woulda been practical. Since we have the subforum now.
For example. I dunno. Lets use Rayleigh POP as an example. If we know he's gonna be put up for pre-order on a certain day then somebody can make a topic a day early and warn people it's gonna be released and also allows a full topic to be used for this. Takes up too much space you may say? Well once the pre-orders are closed the mods can just lock the topic and delete it.
I think this is a good idea. Even if the mods don't delete the topic (cuz it's nice to have the links to look back to) it will just eventually fall away to the bottom of the forums, and then latter pages. In the grand scheme of things, 20 replies in a single topic and 10 replies in 2 topics aren't that different. Except for the fact that you can just read the ones you're interested in.

Actually I prefer this one XD but still XD

Well, I suppose there's two options. One thread per release, or one thread with only release links.
But, if we go for the second, where does all the preorder victory and defeat chat go? Perhaps we can make a thread for just that? ^^;; Maybe that's a bit much, but if it's organization you want, having a thread with just order links is going to work much, much better than a thread with links and people whining and such.

eh. I'm probably not the one to say. I don't mind them all in one topic myself. Mainly because I like the discussion of these things too. I personally lump being able to pre-order things in the same vein as having them arrive. It's nice to see people being able to pre-order as much as it is for to see people getting the items in the mail.
-
Well, I suppose there's two options. One thread per release, or one thread with only release links.
I think there is a third option here, topic per release season (ex. Law&Marco thread / Strongworld Ace,Shanks&Perona thread) etc.
But I do agree that closing it after a while is the best option since this will not resurrect threads unneeded (with the best option to open it as soon as it was pre-orderable and closed when it's released). The other/later talk can be continued in the Collectibles merchandise thread.Just swaping out some ideas.
