Star Man is for the other forum.
Fine, if y'all are gonna hate on Cute Plant Man, here.
THAT's more motherfuckin' like it!

No.
He's not a dentist.
@RobbyBevard:
…but Zack is way better than Cloud.
Crisis Core killed Zack for me. KILLED HIM.
In more ways than one.

Anyway, I've been replaying Dissida 1 to hoarde lots of swag to carry over to Dissidia 2, and I forgot how balls cheap the CPU is in the Blackjack Colosseum when you're not Exdeath. With Void Man, I can usually plow through a few level 150 Chaoses before I get bored and leave with my stash of Resins and such. As anyone else, the fuckers button-read out the ass to block almost everything and retaliate with their over-leveled attack stat power bullshit.
I can plow through most of the competitive Dissidia scene with Garland, but can't make it to one boss card with him in Blackjack. WHATS UP WIT DAT?![/The Hurricane]

Love that damn album.
I'm AP and level grinding in Dissidia at the moment, having a lot of catching up to do. But it's fun!
-
When you unlock everything and such, the easiest way to level grind is to beat Chaos. You get 3 fights worth of AP, especially if you meet the "AP Chance". You can unlock him as an opponent in single matches, and all you need to do is just keep kicking his ass with whoever you're grinding.
Also Duel Colisseum. Play the shit out of that. Levels, AP, items, equipment, that place is a treasure trove. And fun as hell, too.
Love that damn album.
You and I are best friends now.
-
I think the more interesting news is that the soundtack is coming out before the game itself. Then again I do collect soundtracks, so it's probably just interesting to me.
-
Depending on how you look at it, all soundtracks come out before the game is released. Legally or not ;P
-
I prefer legal soundtracks, though. Usually much better quality than gamerips, y'see. ;)
-
The original Dissidia soundtrack came out on iTunes around the time the game was released. I just hope they repeat that act.
-
I hope the gameplay does not wear on me during the story mode. I skip every single cut-scene. After that whole rose thing, I could not take it.
Anyway, I should focus on actually finishing the Chaos story segment. I put it down for 9 months…
-
Hype get, mother fucker! I can't even tell what the fuck he's doing and it's awesome.
Probably due to the prospect of playing as his "Morphing Time" form. Granted, that was obvious, but I like having it verified to me. :)
I'll now be staring at my Gilgamesh figurine with a goofy smile on my face for the next 5 minutes. Excuse me…
-
Hype has been gotten.
Can't wait! Can't freaking wait!
-
Gilgamesh needs to break the ice for the more goofy characters to enter the Dissidia realm, like Quina and the like.
-
Do you want KH Cloud or "Enforcer" Tifa?
I'm definitely leaning toward the Amazon pre-order.

Without a doubt.
Sorry, but Cloud's KH appearance is derpy at best. Tifa all the way.
Bit surprised that noone has posted this yet, but here he is:
http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2011/02/16/dissidia_gilgamesh_details/
Translated info from andriasang:
Info is slowly coming in on the Dissidia Duodecim Final Fantasy's appearance for Final Fantasy V's Gilgamesh. Jump has a brief look at the character in its coming issue. The big feature for Gilgamesh is that his weapon will change each time you attack. This presumably means that you won't know what weapon you'll get. But you're not alone, as Gilgamesh apparently doesn't know himself!
The magazine also shows Gilgamesh's Excalibur move and an event scene with fellow FFVer Bartz.
This was also on a Dissidia poster on another post in the chaoticcosmos lj, but you can see Squall's DLC outfit in the bottom right corner of the scan here as well: it's Squall's appearance as "Leon" also a Kingdom Hearts costume. THIS one, I might get.
-
Wait, does his weapon change all the time, or just during his EX Mode?!
-

Robby is gonna have a field day.
-
Hm….I want to get the extra costumes but I don't know which to choose.
-
Better be only during his EX Mode, dammit…
-
El oh el.
What was that again about luck characters not working?
-
Gilgamesh. Apparently taking the Joey Wheeler approach to combat.
It might be that during EX mode he picks one weapon and sticks with it, is the change. Still a random weapon, but at least its then consistent for the duration of the super.
…Or it might be a mistranslation, since earlier texts made it seem like an EX only thing.
Either way, randomness. Could be interesting long as you don't get the crappy thing too often.
-
I think I'll preorder at gamestop. I want Tifa's alternative outfit, but I like Cloud's KH design and I really don't feel like messing with Amazon. Is this the first confirmation of the US release date and box art? Either way yay for March 22nd :P lol
-
@RobbyBevard:

Yeah, thats why I hope its strictly an EX Mode thing.
I don't really want them making Gilgamesh so wacky that he ends up sucking.
-
If it's his EX Mode gimmick, that's cool I can take it. If not…
:(
-
On the other hand, if it really does change his weapon with every regular attack, and just chooses to stick with one for his ex mode, that means he could potentially rotate through almost his entire set of 8 in one string of attacks. Sure he'd get the no damage duds in there too, but he'd also get all the positives as well.
+All damage is multiplied by 2
-All damage dealt is reduced to 1
+Equip's a spear with incredible reach/range
+Generates a lot of EX Force
+Depletes opponents EX Gauge
+Quick Draw style of attack that can instantly cause Brave Break
~A weapon with a wide range of damage, if lucky can hit for massive damage.
~Lower HP higher damage will be dealt (by user)All damage reduced to 1 sucks, and the axe varying wildly probably means between 1 and 9999, but it'll average out to something in the middle most likely, those sorts of things usually do. And if the last one really does do consistent higher damage with low HP, then you can plan for that and be set with low hp strategy.
At a glance it seems like you're screwed half the time, but it's really only about 1/8 potentially, and all the rest have something potentially good to really good going for it to make up for it. If you aren't counting on a particular effect, then rotating through those abilities worth every swing wouldn't be so bad actually.
Upside being, you get past the 1 damage attack quickly. So, he'd actually be BETTER off rotating it quickly than sticking with one thing for a while
…unless its just an ex mode gimmick. Gah, a good translation/announcement would be helpful.

Well, it was fun while it lasted:
http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2011/02/23/nomura_on_dissidida_future/
So much for Vivi and an FF6 rep in part 3… though I really hope we get another Dissidia. It's a fun series.
Or at least give us DLC ><
-
Brighter news:
You're welcome. And yes that is Kazuya Nakai. I'm gonna definitely be using Bartz in 012, too.
More videos:
-
So that's it? That's all the characters joining the game? No one else?
Well, that kind of sucks. FF9 and FF6 were totally shanked. The crap, Square?
Also, I doubt this will be the last time we have a game LIKE Dissidia. If anything we might have something….bigger.
EDIT: PRISHE KICKS ASS! O_O Her punches sound like a shotgun!
-
YES. Prishe looks GODLY.
As I said before, Bartz looks fun as hell with his new attacks.
I also hope we get at least SOME secret characters.
I was thinking… we have 8 characters and 7 stages confirmed. Unless Stage 8 is the "final" stage, FF1 needs a stage as well. There's also news of Square Enix confirming a new character on the day before launch. (I'll find a source later). Whether it's Gilgamesh or a new character entirely (could be "Desperado Chaos" or maybe a XIII rep) remains to be seen.
However, in the off-chance there's still hidden content, leading to 12 characters and 12 stages, my guess would be:
FFVI Rep - FF IX Rep - FF XIII Rep - FFXIV Rep or Chaos/Desp Chaos
FFIV Stage - FFV Stage - FFVII Stage - FFVIII Stage - FFX StageLike I said. OFF-CHANCE. There are many theories, but at least these numbers match up :\

GILGAMESH CHAAAAAAAAANGE
-
Oh my god Gilgamesh is amazing…! He fires boxing gloves and Wile E. Coyote missiles. God tier. God tier, motherfuckers. God tier.
I see how they compensated for the random weapons thing; his attacks look nasty as hell, and he's got multiple very safe HP attacks. His EX Mode especially looks nasty. That swoop attack with all those spinning weapons? Sheezuss…!
-
Did Gilgamesh ever use Boxing Gloves and Missiles in the original game?:wassat:
He looks great, nethertheless. As do Bartz' new attacks. -
Am I hearing Zoro/Mugen as Gilgamesh's voice or is it just me?
His ex-mode form looks very, very cool. LOL @ confetti and applause at the end.
-

No you're right. That is Kazuya Nakai (Zoro's VA) voicing him.

Laguna vs. Gilgamesh will break my PSP.
Zoro vs. Sanji, eat your heart out.

Game's out in Japan… Desperado Chaos is the last playable character.
hExdXzONxNo
Hmm… this song might be better than The Messenger
Also, some new DLC: helmetless WoL, sprite Cecil, and I've heard rumors of a hooded Zidane and a new Kuja outfit.
-
So Des Chaos is actually playable? Interesting…
Anyway, since it's already out i guess that finally ends all my hopes of another IX rep.
Guess i'll never see my beloved Quina. :cwy:

You were never going to see Quina in this franchise anyway.

I know, but it was just wishful thinking.
Every game needs a morbidly obese creature with an apron, and of unknown gender.

You mean like this?
Because I think the moronic useless animal mascot side character is one of the great travesties of gaming.

VI and IX got hosed…

Wow, very much so!
edit: Apparently it's another multi-part final boss song, like the last game. Here's the whole thing:

The awesome song itself is called "God In Fire".

I wouldn't say "hosed". We get Prima Vista, Grand Cross, and You're Not Alone <3

I totally forgot about the date.
