Watchmen definitely deserves it's reputation.
Never saw the film though. How was it?

Pretty bad but not the worst comicto film adaptation. Having said that I have seen a lot of bad comic-to-film adaptations, it isn't in the same laugue of awfulness to some of them.
The graphic novel is amazing, but I preferred V for Vendetta. Maybe that's bwecause I'm British and it had a British setting, even though it is set in London which is an entirely different to where I live in the north.
Got 69 issues of Deadpool to read. I enjoyed the 1st 2 stories. Could not really follow Deadpool's way of speaking at first, nor the Irish accents but it all grew on me.
Regular Avengers was terrible but Secret Avengers was amazing and what the regular avengers should aspire to be like.
^ That's because Brubaker freaking rules. I always enjoy his work.
Hmm.. Not sure if I'm linking the art style from the issues of Deadpool I'm reading. It was detailed before, but now it seems the bubbles are easier to follow. Fair exchange I guess.
I appreciated Sentry far more when Osborn got his hands on him, especially leading up to Siege.
Hopefully my friend will appreciate the Siege issues I borrow to him, because he is a devout Bob fan. Ah The library finally got my copy of Y the last man volume 4 in. Unfortunately there was no 5 yet, just 6. There was no Fables volume 8 but a 9 and a 10. Hate when that happens.
Reading Empowered. Excellent gag comic. It's has alot of smut in it but the characters along with the style are awesome as f***. Also thinking of tracking down Tank Girl.
i love empowered
try read Galacta, daughter of Galactus
it came out last week, the same author
I'm not fond of how people have complained about how western comic books are saturated with superheroes.
I mean, how do you define "superhero"? Even then, the term is more of a concept than a genre in my opinion.
It still dominates people's conception of what comics are. I say this as someone who has read plenty of superhero and non-superhero titles. Superheroes can be dull and predictable which is why people can go off to titles like the Sandman or Y the last man etc. I read whatever if it is good though.

Thanks. I heard of it just recently and would give it a look.
But yeah, Empowered is probably one of the most fun western comics I ever read. There's just so much creative diversity in art and the writing. My favorite chracters has to be Emp, Encaged Demonwolf, Thugboy and Ole Wily Pete. Until recently I like Miss Spooky and also Mindfuck.
Awaiting volume 6.
Read Fables #96:
!
lmao huzzah.
Now that's familiar XD
I'm doing graphic novels for my Art work in school, and I'm not looking for your average comic books, I'm looking for those that have really unique and revolutionary art styles.
So far, I have the Sin City series and Batman: Arkham Asylum. I would be grateful if any of you could come up with a few others I could look into!
Try Joker. It's got the Heath Ledger version.
Either Kingdom Come or Marvels. Both are gorgeously done by Alex Ross.
Also, get one of Jim Lee's works. He's great.
try the Vertigo Kid Eternity novel, excellent art
Read Hellblazer #268 today. Good God that was kind of hard to stomach.
! John cutting off his thumb was sldkfjskdlf. Good grief his crazy is so much worse than most people.

You should really read it in order, you seriously won't know what is going on if you skip volumes.
Wonder woman.. a new look
http://buzz.yahoo.com/buzzlog/93808?fp=1
seems alot of the heroes are undergoing outfit changes
I read The Dark Tower series for the first time ever, for the last week or so, and I just got through the comic series (up to The Gunslinger: The Journey Begins) and holy crap the art is something gorgeous. I like it.
Kithotep!
Yesterday I bought the hardcover edition of The Punisher series, Welcome Back, Frank (#1-12, printed in 2000), and I bought the first volume of the Punisher Max series. I'm planning on getting the rest as well.
I finished Welcome Back, Frank this morning and I liked it. It wasn't as violent as I know the Max series is, but it still is pretty violent.
Harvey Pekar Died yesterday at 70
Geoff Johns just announced at SDCC that:
-They are working on a Suicide Squad video game and that it will be VERY violent
-Wonder Woman movie plans are in the works in the coming years
-Still going through with the Shazam/Captain Marvel Plans
-Shown Blue Beetle test footage from live-action show
-There are plans for Cassandra Cain outside comics
-Parallax is in the Green Lantern Film
-Ivan Reis and Geoff Johns are working on a SECOND GL: Secret Origins
A second, eh? Will it be focused specifically on Hal or might it be something a little more general within the corps?
Nice to see they're still pushing through with their Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel film plans. Hopefully those can get off the ground.
I'm thinking Sinestro's secret origin.
They really need to tell John's, though, since it is obviously has changed since GJ started writing.

I was thinking exactly the same thing, there have been rumors all over the internet about it for months
it suppouse to tell the origin of Siniestro and how was he kicked out of the corps
There's a Captain Marvel / Shazam movie planned? Like live action?
It been awhile since I posted. I got Red Hulk Vol. 4: Hulk Vs. X-Force (Even through I don't own any of the other Red Hulk books), yesterday. Since I was at Barnes & Noble yesterday.
It was a great read, Red She-Hulk was interesting sight to see for her grand entrance. I'll probably going to end up collecting the Red Hulk books and Incredable Hulk books once I finished working on She-Hulk (and the She-Hulk side stuff like The All New Savage She-Hulk, Fall of the Hulks: She-Hulk, and Heralds new mini series that She-Hulk is feature in.).
Red Hulk?
oh god why are you supporting that horrible shit
Sandman's a good comic.
Just got a hold of a couple The Walking Dead volumes, really loving it. I'd love Highschool of the Dead more if it wasn't a joke comic. But yea, The Walking Dead is fantastic, can't wait for the tv-adaption in October.
Currently on issue 26.
Just for you Sano, they were listening:

I don't really do Cartoon Network, or read Comics these days. The only 'cartoons' if you will, I watch are anime.
But for nostalgia, and because everyone highly recommended I started reading the 'Batman' comic from the first issue, the other day.
Oh hell fucking Yes!!!
I'm probably going to wait for the graphic novels. But I'm planning to get the new She-Hulk series. I still got get the last two volumes of the 2004 -2009 She-Hulk (volume 8 and 9)series that I'm on as well getting All New Savage She-Hulk and the Fall of the Hulks: She-Hulks book.
So I just got done reading and catching up to the Hulk with Planet Hulk, World War Hulk, red hulk, etc. So I'm done with that for now.
I'd like to start reading Superman, I just got done with Man of Steel, but just wondering, where do I go from here in terms of story? Should I just start from the first issue and move my way up to the 700's or is there another retelling of the story's major events in a more modernized comic.
Is this a good list?

After Superman Earth One, will there be more of Superman's story or is it just that?

For the mainstream Superman? I'd suggest taking a look at The Death of Superman, Our Worlds At War, Infinite Crisis, Superman: Last Son, Superman and the Legion of Superheroes, Final Crisis: Legion of 3 Worlds Superman: Brainiac, and Superman: New Krypton. Those are really the biggest arcs I can think of right now.
Superman: Earth-One is not a part of the mainstream continuity, but is a graphic novel series set in its own universe.
Also, Superman: Secret Origin is the current Superman origin, it's a six issue mini-series. The final issue should be coming out this month…
Dude, Death and Return of Superman are the shit! Classic comic book writing down to the T! I love how it didn't only effect the Superman universe, but also royally effected the Green Lantern one too! Brilliant piece of literature, if we are allowed to call it that. :)
On another note, how is Superman: Secret Origin? I know they had to redo it due to all the copyrights they lost over the last few years but Geoff Johns is writing it, so it's gotta be pretty good, right?
What you been readibng lately?
Few weeks ago I read Vol 3 and 4 of the Swamp Thing (by Moore of course) it was awesome. Read a couple of Hercules and Thor ones too…and also Old Man Logan, and right now I am reading Marvel Zombies 2

well it was not bad
the thing is that this was made to be part of the World of New Krypton era and the war of the supermen but the stories were terrible the end was a mess and the project got cancel before time which was the reason this was delayed so much
overall its a good story, it simplified the origins of Lex, parasite and metallo and add the Legion into the origin but other than that not much changed
Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers is getting a comic book series from the success of the Darkwing Duck comics.

So I have a question.
Is there a way to tell what stories are and aren't canon to a series, like maybe a website or something?
For example, I was at a comic book store yesterday and saw an issue of Franken-Castle, where it's basically about
! How Daken killed The Punisher (which I highly doubt could happen ), and then The Punisher's remains were found by monsters in the sewer and they revived him in a Frankenstein sense, and The Punisher is doing his usual business… y'know, punishing people.
Is that really canon? Because that really pisses me off (the whole Daken part), and just doesn't seem to really fit.
But eh, maybe I'll get use to it.
Yup, it is canon.
The series got renamed to Frankencastle too. If you really are into the Punisher, however, you should just read the MAX comics anyways. Most people say the current stuff isn't that great, though.
