I am for sure but we can only hope that there's an option to turn off dubbed voices ;). Anyway for those who haven't tried the demo of the game I tried it and so far the battling is fun but the phrases between and after the battle are really corny especially with Arlong. Also anyway I never played the JAP games so I can't do any comparison but the graphics are good. The demo is keeping me busy until the 7th :). So are you getting this game?
Are you getting the US version of One Piece Grande Battle?
-
-
I'll be renting it first and if it's fun enough, especially on multi-player, then I'll pick it up.
-
Yeah. I haven't bought a video game in ages.
And once I get a credit card I'll import from Japan just to have both.
-
Not likely. I think i'll just get the Japanese version, or one of the other OP games.
-
Meh, why not. I'll just put it on mute and listen to my iPod while I play. :D
-
I'm definitely going to get it. I played the demo and loved it. The only voice I can't stand is Sanji's, so no big deal. And it's only $40 so you really can't go wrong price-wise.
I hear ya on the phrases Matt. What did you think of Arlong's crazy laugh when he attacks with the teeth on his hands? I was impressed.
-
Nope. I've got GB: Rush and I'm anticipating the release of Fighting For One Piece.

I haven't paid much attention to his laugh but Arlong's phrases were corny before and after fights like "I will show you the difference between us." and etc.
I'd like to hear what Arlong says when he fights himself lol,

I read in an interview that there will be no Jap voice option, because they dont want the dumb 4kid'onites to know that there really called Smoker, Zoro, Gum-Gum pistol, shotgun, etc. I'm serious they said this in a polite way, so basically they no longer care about us. THE TRUE FANS. They are only aiming for those who know only of the dub….. bummer!
-
Nope, not going to get it. I don't have the time and cash to waste on something I know I probably won't enjoy without the mute button being turned on. Espically if they are charging me 50 bucks to buy it. (A member of the broke college student club)

Well, that suks but it's dumb because the game is rated "T" for teen (…hey that's actually good!) and the names aren't as bad like Smoker, except if you are offended by people who smoke. Also I hope there is a way to turn those voices OFF during game play.
-
i will not, lots of edits il stick to my japanese version got original voices too
-
blar when I first heard about it, I was like YAY!
now Im like oh mygod .__.
Majeh no wanna see the game >:
I wanna import it though D: ..maybe for christmas n.n -
I'm getting it. 40 isn't too expensive, and I don't really care about the voices since it's not like I have to watch the bloody thing (lord knows I can't sit through a full dub eppy), just play it. Plus it has all the cute li'l costumes. =D hoping for Zoro in his cute blue outfit I'm disappointed Eneru isn't playable but it's no biggy. I still have Zoro, Nami, and Bon Clay.
-
I reserved it a EB Games and I'll go pick it up tommorrow.
-
They replaced all the Skypia outfits… so no afro luffy....
-
…no afro Luffy... NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I'm gonna import it from America.
-
im gonna buy the gba and thats it. i already have gbr lol
-
No Afro Luffy you say?
…
AW HELL NO! I AM DEFINATELY NOT BUYING THAT GAME NOW!!! AFRO LUFFY IS WHAT GOT ME TEMPTED TO GET THE DUB VERSION OF THE GAME... BUT SINCE THERE IS NO AFRO LUFFY...THERE IS NO POINT!
I AM DEFINATELY GETTING THE IMPORT NOW!!!
-
I already have GB Rush, and Fighting For One Piece looks pretty disappointing, so I guess I'll skip OP games till the next Grand Battle.
-
It's funny… The ones who say they won't get the American Grand Battle because of the voices proboally will never get the game period (dubbed or not). You all say your gonna get the import... But it's not as easy as that. And you might miss out on a fun game because of some stupid voices.
-
hey man ener is one of my best characters in that game. so why the hell should i buy it if they cut him, besides it wasnt really that hard to import it. how hard is clicking buy filling out your adress and creidt card # XD
-
I'll wait untie the game is out check it out in the Gamefaq. They replace Skypiea outfit? No afro-Luffy? Many censored stuff? Many names change? I think I'll forfit it.
-
Long story short, we got screwed over with this game…..... so I hope that it fails over here.
-
I could see spending $10 for it second-hand. I could see spending $6 to rent it. But I can't see spending $40 to buy it. $40 is a lot of tankos, or figures.
-
I'm buying it… I'll just turn the volume off and listen to music... the attacks are there, they're just named differantly.. if I cant hear the changes.. It'll be good enough..
and besides.. right now, I have some disposable income.. theres nothing I want.. so I might as well buy something that I'll enjoy for a bit instead of sitting around being bored..
-

You could also miss out on a lot of cool features because of unwillingness to import (but I understand; I didn't start importing until GB Rush came out, either, and I seldom do it).
And like I said, I already have the imported version, so for me it'd just be a waste of money (which I can't waste right now).
-
I would consider importing if the game was REALLY DRASTICLY changed. But as far as I'm concerned it wasn't so it doesn't bother me. I can live without a few characters, and indure the dub voices.
-
I don't see what everyone's so angry about, it's the gameplay that matters.
-
Franchise games are rarely the best of their breed; I'm sure there are better fighters than GB. A large part of the draw is in the franchise. We're interested in a OP game for the OP aspect, otherwise we'd play Mortal Kombat. Mess with the OP aspect, and all you have is yet another fighter.
-
Most OP fighters are most likely of better quality than Mortal Kombat.
-
Well you all knew it was going to get dubbed. I mean… I hope you knew...
-
Im gonna leave this game on the rack and acually get a game thats worth my time. Dont get me wrong I love OP but I have played GB rush game and all I can say is that its weak sauce, 99.9% of Bandai games suck ass, I mean have you seen the preview for GB? "Use Iteams as wepons!!" OMFG! use iteams as wepons!!! now were have I seen that before :hmm: O YA, IN EVERY GAME EVER MADE!!!! the only chance id ever by it is if I saw it for 5$ online.
-
@Cap'n:

Perhaps true; I just don't know any fighters newer than it. I never liked fighters much. Rented MK once to see what the fuss was back when it was the thing parents were knotting knickers over.
As for the "items as weapons", depending how much that's confusing language, it could be innovative. A lot of games have very noninteractive worlds. You can't throw rocks or boxes or tables.
-
I might get it when its 20 or less. Not worth 40-50, even the original IMO. Doesn't seem like much replay value.
-
I'm gonna get a mod chip and order the Japanese version. Probably gonna rent the U.S. version just to keep me at bay until I can afford to get the mod chip+the Japanese version though. I suggest everyone do the same..ararara…you can't even play as ME in the U.S. version...bah! :glare:

I knew it… X-Play gave One Piece:Grand Battle a 2/5. I knew they would'nt like it...

This post is deleted!

i saw that coming light years in advance, i was thinking about renting the game but with no japanese voices i wont even look twice at it.
ps. what is the best one piece game so far.
-
I imported Grand Battle Rush, is nothing too special…I have yet to play a good OP game...(Treasure Battle was fun, but not enough fighting)
-
i got the demo from ASJ and i had alot of fun playing this game. it had a super smash bros. feel to it. i get to see some of my favorite moves and its a fun game playing with a friend.
i'm buying it!
-
I tried it and it starts with the intro to the US One Piece (the rap song along with the cartoon beginning). Also anyway I think it's ok cept for when I started Story mode Nami's like, "Luffy! You took my treasure," luffy's like, "I wanted Sanji to make some golden stew!" Nami, "You thief! It won't even be edible." That's what it said when I started story mode on easy with Luffy.
Also BTW: I got the Gamecube version. So far it looks kool cept that, i know the theme song suks but, they somehow altered the lyrics so it DOES sound different to the theme song but it's basically the same. Maybe later I might record it. The words that show up ARE voice narrated by the characters…from the US anime :(. Well anyway so far so good. Graphics are great.
-
This is so awesome! I made a discovery! At the ending credits in the bottom right corner of the Wanted posters it says "Marines" instead of Navy! Awesome!
-
I know you're excited, Matt, but instead of doubleposting, use the Edit button, okay? ^^
-
the edit button is your friend. also will u post voice clips of him. :). also the good thing about the orginal version is you start out with chopper lol. also y+x is the cheesy move on earth with chopper use it.
-

I didn't realize it was a second post I made, I thought I was editing the first one though. Sorry about that =( Also I never got Chopper, it appears that he's a secret character which I still have to unlock.
-
Looks fantasmal. I am going to buy this the second it comes out. I'm pretty sure the Super Smash feel is from the easily executed moves in multiplayer mode.

Now that I have the game, time to do some comparisons
Differences
For the marine stage, there's no "Warlords of the Seas" there. There's also none of the old men. Marine people? Don't remember who they are
For the racing mini-game, they replaced the racing people with a bunch of random "villagers" on one boat, and Usopp's Pirates on the other
Usopp's Impact Dial was changed

Unlocking characters is different
Doesn't seem support characters can be announcers
Can't think of any more right now…
Notes
Krieg shoots "nails" now instead of suction cups (talking about US dub)
Chaser has cigars on his coat still, and still has the Japanese writing on his coat
No support characters seem to talk
Gomu Gomu no Rifle is Drill now
Rubberband of Doom (dub) is Usopp Rubberband. Should of just kept it that way in the dub...
Jango is actually spelled Django (known to many people already). Even shows it on the show as Django. Still pronounce Jango though.
Instead of collecting cards, you get pictures from the show.
The snow clearing mini-game is still hard as hell
Arlong when fighting another Arlong still thinks they're different species...
Sanji's "Open Face Slamwich" is in :D
The dialogue sucks! Not sure if it's a translation of the Japanese version or not. Luffy wants to fight Nami for her tangerines...
For the dialogue, the people show no emotions, such as anger. This is more Bandai's fault. I bet that they didn't tell them to act any different when recording lines.
Intro is the 1st rap not shown on TV. The one that goes "His name's Zolo, he's a samurai and a l-a-d-y Nami's so sly" or something like that
There are some clips of the intro of Rush known as the 2nd Intro
Will post more when it comes to my mind

I would have gotten this game yesterday. But due to the stupid hurricane, all game shipments to Louisiana and Mississippi have been delayed.>=(
PS- X-Play gave One Piece: Grand Battle a 2 out of 5.
