@Zeefer:
Having Usopp rejoin just because he defeated a strong opponent (e.g. Kaku) would just prove true the reasoning for Usopp leaving in the first place, that you have to be strong or at least useful to be a part of the Strawhat crew, which Usopp feels he is not. I don't think this is the message Oda wants to convey. The strawhats are all about nakama and loyalty and not about how useful or strong you are.
Well put. Your post actually finally made me realize why I always was feeling uncomfortable about Usopp beating a super strong opponent. It´s not because of the illogic (is that even a word?) about constantly rising strenghtlevels while guys like Zoro or Sanji take on weaklings. NO!
The reason why Usopp taking on a strong guy bothers me because Oda would deliver a very sad anti-moral with it. Usopp left the crew because he felt weak. If he now beats a super strong dude (while others take on inferior guys) and comes back to the crew then, the entire situation will always have the impression that Usopp just was considered worthy to return to the Strawhats because he is strong and not because of his personality.
That would seriously suck IMO. One Piece is so great because even the physically weak guys are worth much simply because of their character. That message would completely be replaced by the message "You´re only worth something if you´re strong" if Usopp beats Kaku. And to my personal understanding of the series, this is not One Piece.
Thank you for making me finally realize what was making me feel so uncomfortable with that Zeefer. :adore:
@Zero:
Geez did you even read my post.
Geez did you even read the second and third words of my post?
Plus it wasn´t you who brought that blood argument so what in the world made you think I was talking to you?
And on top of that if you ask a question then use a question mark.
