I'm about an hour and a half into the game so far, so just a couple of quick thoughts so far….
What I like
–The framerate during combat is definitely improved. The random pockets of smooth to choppy that littered the first game have definitely been ironed over. Even more fun as fuck to chop people up!
--The NES-style side jobs are actually really entertaining, and surprisingly challenging (I'm sure thats thanks to the development team's "research", lol).
--The humor.
! Despite the game going for a more serious overtone it still maintains its sense of humor. I mean, after the first fight with Skelter Helter, Travis and Sylvia break immediately break the fourth wall, joking about gamers who didn't play the first game.
What I don't like
–Some of the "improved" controls. Well really, just running and moving around. Maybe its the camera or maybe its my imagination, but it always feels like theres some invisible pole that Travis is running around everytime I make a turn. Its kinda hard to explain. Its not that big a deal, but it is a little quip. I don't remember feeling anything like that in the first game.
--No More Overworld? To be frank, I'm kinda 50/50 on this one. On the one hand, the overworld from the previous game felt kinda lacking and in NMH2 you can to get to all the shit you want and need without trudging through the streets. But on the other hand, it added kind of a nice touch at least allowing you to explore Travis' world, plus there was the occasional T-Shirt or extra cash to discover.
So yeah, other than that, I'm still having fun and I can't wait to see more of what NMH2 has to offer!
