I doubt it, seeing as it appeared during the same arc, only a few chapters before the revelation of Mistgun's appearance.
The chapter was much better than what I was expecting; I thought the title meant that the entire Fairy Tail guild would try to take Gerard back. I don't get all of the complaints against Wendy joining; people wanted to see her abilities develop over the course of this arc, and this gives her more time to do that. As well, the illusory guild justifies why Cait Shelter would send a single non-combatant on a mission that was of such vital importance, and ghosts had been used previously in the series, in the latest special.

Speculation time then on something that was probably already thought up ages ago somewhere.
How about an arc in the spirit world? Since dragon slayer magic basically changes parts of a human's body into that of a dragon and Natsu was able to breath in the spirit world (lungs of a dragon) it could be assumed that dragons have a way of moving between the worlds or at least can survive in both without difficulty.
Maybe there will be an arc revealing that all the dragons went to the spirit world to literally remove themselves from human affairs. Or maybe some villain down the line will do some crazy magic, punch a whole into the spirit world and only the dragon slayers will be able to go after that villain.
Again, all this has probably been thought up before at some point or another, but that's just my random speculation.

The only problem with that theory is that the effect we're talking about is a visual effect. Sure you could manipulate the other senses in order to create the effect that Mist Gun, sounds or smells like Gerard but at no point could a manipulation of the other senses have an influence on your sight.

The new chapter was great! I'm glad we're finally going back to Fairy Tail. I'm hoping Gazille and Jubia will make their triumph return in the next chapter 8)

Eh… when you think about it, there were hints there if you really looked for them. Empty city, power to switch evil to good and good to evil (thus attempting to create balance), the huge focus on Cait Shelter. This is probably looking way too deep into it, but a Cait Sith is a Fairy Cat from Irish Folklore that was completely black with one white spot. Sounds like the Yang symbol.
I dunno how much Mashima is into mysticism or folklore, though. I think I've been reading too much Gensomaden Saiyuki...
Wow gotta say that came from left field and made for a great chapter. Haven't had a great reveal like this since Guana Island arc.
As much as most of this arc bugged me, I still enjoyed it. If nothing else for the Racer, Cobra and Zero fights. Wonder whats next?

What should happen is that our original team of heroes: natsu,happy,lucy,erza & gray get captured by some dark guild and so the master sends an odd ball team with: Elfman, (the sand dude), (that gunslinger guy), and shadow gear... oh! plus macao

new chapter wasn't bad. It wasn't great.. but i'm glad that ol' Fairy Tail didn't go rushing off to save Gerard. So at least he's been put on the back burner (for now…)
The reveal wasn't really that shocking. Felt a little bad for Wendy.... but everything seemed to get wrapped up in too neat of a package.
The best part of the chapter was Erza's insightful message to the heart broken Wendy. Nice to see that she's able to keep it all together what with Gerard and all.
Next arc might be concerning Gazelle? hopefully?
I think that someone else is going to spring Gerard out, maybe Uthear herself.
Gazielle's plot is trapped with the Raven Guild, untill that's resolved he's got to keep tabs on them, and they on him. I'd rather if they go to find the 5th great mage of fairy tail, the gezzer.

Honestly, the four people I want to see more of are: Mirajane, Erzack (That's the gun guy), Levy, and Fried. Mirajane because the whole Lisana incident has only been vaguely referred to… I want to know what really happened to cause her death; Erzack because he's the only immigrant mentioned thus far; I want to know about the other countries besides Fiore. Plus, gun magic has always been a favorite of mine.
Levy, of course, because she's my favorite female character, and her magic is unique; and Fried, simply because I like his character and feel that there's a lot more to his story than Mashima has shown us so far.
In fact, I like all the Fairy Tail characters so far, except Evergreen and Bixlow. I could care less about them, really. They just don't seem that interesting.

About mirajane we did get to see just how powerfull she can be during her fight against fried. The death of her sister is something i've been curious to see how that happend.
and not just levy but all of shadow gear I would like to see more of. I'm pretty sure that if they were apart of the seis arc that jet would've gave racer a good asswhooping.
