Huge post, sorry…
@Narutossss:
Haha, and here I thought Zoro gets stronger with more pressure, there goes that argument…[/sarcasm] it's most likely not haki. IF it was, Oda would have made it more clear like he did with Luffy… Everyone doesn't have haki, ok? :P
Trying to understand your post, I rewrote it. If I was wrong, correct me. It didn't really make much sense before, so I am responding to this version. Ok, so. Are you suggesting that physical power is the only way for Zoro to get stronger? I want to believe I misunderstood you somewhere, or misunderstood the sarcasm, but if this is what you are saying, then you completely missed the point of Zoro being able to cut iron. It isn't about power, it is about technique. The more you refine a technique, especially a cutting technique, the more powerful it becomes. Mihawk isn't simply "more muscular" than Zoro. Yes, muscle plays a large role, else Zoro wouldn't always work out, but there is (and should always be) more focus on technique. Simply put, Zoro can't cut anything. He needs to improve. Haki hasn't been shown to cut anything, it just allows (or has allowed) increased power and the ability to make a logia or other "power" tangible. That doesn't really make someone invincible. (IE: Rayleigh).
@UsoppSpell:
Well, there's always the possibility of some Kairouseki laced knuckle guards or weapons. Before Haki was introduced, I was sure that this would be the mandatory upgrade for everyone's equipment. In fact, I'm quite curious as to how this hasn't come up since smoker and wiper. I know it's supposed to be rare, but it's not that rare that high level pirates couldn't acquire some for DF battles. I always thought that Blackbeard's yami fruit was kinda pointless if you could fire seastone laced bullets or some shit.
I have said this before, but I really don't think seastone is "rare". At least, not in the sense that people assume it is. It is isolated to one area, like Smoker said in Alabasta, and the World Government certainly seems to have control of that area, so the rest of the world does not have it at their disposal. In that sense, yeah, it is rare. There could be TONS of it; there likely is tons of it. It's just that, from what we know, the Marines and the World Government have complete control of where and how it is used; thus pirates not having easy access to it. Likely it is a black market item. Either way, I am extremely glad this isn't the route Oda took for overcoming power users. It would be far too simple an answer, and would be far too conditional.
@UsoppSpell:
Well, I don't know how this about types of haki first emerged, but I don't think it's as clear cut as it being classified into different categories altogether. It probably manifests in different ways depending on the individual's personality and inclinations.
I'm not trying to contradict you here, but you are yourself stating where the "types" discussion emerged. Simply put, "haoushouaosashasku haki" was made into a category. "Color" was also in the description as well, I think. Sure, that doesn't mean there are other categories (unless you count "normal" a category), but it was implied that Sandersonia and Marigold, at the very least, had different strengths and skills with the ability. Marigold was known for her defense, and Sandersonia for her mantra-like movement prediction. This strongly suggests (to me) that there are different skills that can be accessed, and that there are varying levels of strength and/or usage of said skills. Still, it needs to be explained more in depth before this can really be considered conclusive.
@UsoppSpell:
But the potential to have it is, to my opinion, not an inherited trait, but something anyone with enough drive is able to achieve.
I agree that anyone should be able to learn it, and that it likely manifests differently for different people, but I would think that there are a handful of "applications" for it, and that those applications are the only ones there are. The difference among people would be strengths/weaknesses in each category, and/or outright inaccessibility to some of the skills. For instance, thus far we have seen a few common applications that I will blanket with other terms: mantra, tekkai, roukuougan, and instant KO. I'm not saying that these are all without a doubt the same thing as haki, but I personally think they are. Oda likes to connect the dots, and in real life there exists many different techniques that have different names and slightly different applications depending on where you are, so if you consider that and the nature of each of these techniques, it makes sense. I hate to use Bleach as an example, but in Bleach there are like 10 different ways to move at high speed. They are all pretty much the same thing, with a TINY difference in application and a different name.
@UsoppSpell:
I believe that Zoro could, in theory, also develop King's Haki.
I have to completely disagree here. I simply cannot take what Oda said (via plot) about it being one in a million (rare) lightly. Were it attainable by anyone who has the same…attitude, it simply wouldn't be (believably) rare. Ultimately, it undermines the significance of it and its connection with Luffy. Kidd, for instance, has displayed the same ambitious nature. Blackbeard as well. Whitebeard and Ace I am sure have similar drive. Coby? I am certain the list can and does go on. Take Hancock, for example. She is nothing like Luffy. I would suggest she is the complete opposite. She clearly doesn't hold the same drive as Luffy, so I don't see where the connection is that they would share (personality wise).
@huron:
Whitebeard is the strongest man of the world.
That probably means he has a strong haki too.
This is, in my opinion, where haki is hurting the fanbase the most. It has been introduced extremely slow. It has been made an extremely rare and unique skillset. It has been shown to allow a limited increase in ability, while still being a major asset in a fight. Despite all of this, people seem to think that everyone in the New World will have it, that it has unlimited potential, that it makes you extremely powerful, and that if you are powerful then you likely have it.
@Zkaiser:
You didn't answer the question.
Neither did you, a few pages back.
