@Syan:
I really don't do the comic issues, but I pick up graphic novels.
Ah but graphic novels ARE comics ARE Illustrated tomes ARE graphic novels!
I think the word you're going for here is Collected Editions or TPBs, which IMO is one of the best ways to read comics :)
Just got:
Captain America- The Man with No Face: Great story, like the interaction between Namor and Bucky and Bucky's decision to resolve his issues as Winter Soldier instead of as Cap. I didn't really get how the villain turned someone into a virus, but it was interesting. (Can't find a spoiler tag button, and don't remember how to write it manually, so I was just vague.)
lol just use SPOILER and /SPOILER with the [] brackets to use spoilers.
That one was a nice story arc IMO, and IIRC the virus was made by turning the stuff that made the FIRST Human Torch work toxic or such.
I still want Bucky to remain as Cap, but I am beyond excited that Steve Rogers is coming back in Reborn. Gonna fight myself on if I should buy in issues, don't want to since I'd still get the GN.
Hey no problem, some series are best read in bulks and collected editions/TPBs get that job done right.
Final Crisis: Not as good as I was hoping it would be. I may re-read it in a month or so, but all in all, it seemed disorganized and badly coordinated. I know it probably fills in a lot if you read the Countdowns and other FC sidestories, but thats not right to make those need to purchase.
The whole time was screwed up thing and Darkseid got mixed with the monitors who were vampires just seemed to be too back and forth.
Only things I was very pleased with were the great scene between Black Lightning and Tattooed Man and the fact that Captain Marvel finally got some prominence in a major event of recent times. I have always hated the way CM gets sideshuffled when he is such a fantastic character.
Sadly, its my least favorite Crisis title that I've read. The only one I haven't read is Crisis on Earths 1 & 2.
I kinda liked FC, but I think it would've been better as a 12 issue maxi series to expand more on WTF is going on.
I dunno if you know this but the series seemed to heavily use much of Jack Kirby's creations along with the Captain Marvel series.
I'll reread it again some day and then I may understand it more and like it more.
Gotta love this line(s) though-
"All is one in Darkseid. This mighty body is my church. When I command your surrender, I speak with three billion voices…When I make a fist to crush your resistance, IT IS WITH THREE BILLION HANDS! When I stare into your eyes and shatter your dreams and break your heart IT IS WITH SIX BILLION EYES!
Nothing like Darkseid has ever come among you: nothing will again. I will take you to a hell without exit or end. And there I will murder your souls! And make you crawl and beg! And die! DIE! DIE FOR DARKSEID!"
Man that part just sent chills down my spine, it's so cool...
Ms. Marvel V6- Ascension
Digging the backstory on Carol and love the interaction with Spider-Man on both portions. I'm really waiting on V7 to see what goes down. What kind of weapon is Ascension exactly? How does everything play out? I really am hoping for a big showdown.
However, I've been spoiled on a very sucky event that happens in #37. I'm really hoping its a swerve and not as permanent as it seems.
Actually, I have a hopeful suspicion that the out-of-chronological-order of the last several issues makes it so she's using her spy skills and in Nick Fury-esque hiding.
It's pretty obvious that I've become a big Ms. Marvel fan.
Cool I'm a Ms. Marvel fan too, I've liked her ever since I started reading her series :)
@Sano- That fist Vol. of She-Hulk would set how the series will go on from there for the next few story arcs. So if you liked that book you'll prob. like the other books for the most part.
The Kitty and Logan collection is good as well IIRC.
