Well seeing as how Funi has subbed and dubbed it as Zoro for the past two years, I doubt they'll change that now.
O.O Fansubs just died.

-
Oh okay, thanks. I was worried there for a second.
-
I'm probably a bit late to the party, but I still must celebrate as well….OMG YAY!!!!!!!! SIMULCAST IS COMING BACK!!!!!! HOORAY FOR FUNIMATION!!!!!!!!!!! ok I'm done ;P
-
can't watch simulcast because my region is not accepted
-
people will find a way to rip it anyway
just as long as they don't do it before it airs in Japan
Funi better not pull that shit again
-
I'm sure though if Funi detects it being ripped ever again, no matter when, it's probably going to go down for good.
I'm very excited to see teh simulcast returning. I haven't watched fansubs because I was hoping this would come back, and there are just certain people I can't nerd over watching new episodes around without flack so, this LEGAL way gives me more chances to nerd out, so yay!
-

If that were the case it'll be down by the weekend.
-
The entire reason that they had a problem with that rip wasn't that it was a rip.
It was that it was let loose on the internet before it aired in Japan.
It wouldn't be gone by the weekend if it was the rip that ended it. It would be gone TONIGHT.
-
I thought they were starting on Friday?
-

Yeah. Except what do you mean by tonight?
I'm convinced that since they said they're not uploading them before they air in Japan, we won't have any problems… If we do, than it will be due to hacking.
For this Simulcast to come back up exactly like it was, I just wouldn't be able to believe that FUNimation didn't have to prove to the Japanese companies that their security is good enough and that they won't upload them on the servers earlier. They'd have to have done that.
@Darkstorm, that's when they're starting the streaming. Starting with 391 and uploading three every night. The Simulcast starts on August 29th.
-
Oh, so it was, ignore that.
It'd be gone by Friday night then.
-
Given Funi's previous track record I assumed it'd take them a day or two to work it out, which is why I plumped for the weekend.
But yeah, if ripping was a problem Funi wouldn't have any series up for viewing on their site, since it's so easy to do.
I really hope they actually have security this time, or at least don't upload the episode until it has started airing in Japan.
-
That's honestly the best they can probably do.
Because episodes WILL be ripped.
-
Indeed. Since I don't live in North America, I'm rather counting on it.
As long as it's not before the Japanese air date again.
-
If they uploaded them before they aired in Japan, those Japanese companies would be incredibly pissed off.
They already said that they aren't going to do that anymore.
-
It wouldn't have been a problem if they had any form of security whatsoever.
But it's probably best off this way in any event.
-
meh, I don't think I'm stopping my fansub. It depends on the situation. But if I suddenly stop I might fall into depression.
meh x.x -

LOL they would murder you for that.
But obviously if it can be leaked there is not enough.
I think they will be more concerned with making sure the episode is not leaked prematurely, rather then ripping because yes it will be done. Though if it's done after the fact, there isn't much they can do about it. Not uploading it until its done airing in Japan will be the smart move.
-
It's completely impossible to prevent a rip. In a worst case scenario, someone would just have to use a screen recording app on the stream. But yeah, assuming they don't upload the episodes before the japanese airing, there should be no problems.
-
Yeah, Rips will happen regardless of what FUNi wants, but Gen said in an interview with ANN that they will no longer upload the Eps early, they'll be doing it JUST before the Ep is set to go live, meaning since the show is supposed to hit the net one hour after broadcast, the smart thing to do would be to do the upload as the episode is being Broadcast. That way, no matter what, even if someone DLed it IMMEDIATELY, nobody would be able to download and put the video up for mass distribution before the episode was finished airing. In fact, they probably wouldn't even beat the Simulcast itself.
Question though, for those of you in the "know", are Phantom and FMA:B still capable of being DLed through the same means that the OP 403 Leak Happened, or has that at least been stopped? And if it has, has anyone found a workaround for those series' Yet?
(I say "Yet" because I'm sure if it hasn't happened already, it will eventually)Also, the "Best" way to bootleg FUNi's release would be to simply make a subtitled version in HD by timing and then Transcribing FUNi's Subs. (IE: you sit and read FUNi's Subs and type them up verbatum, then make them into a Softsub file to play with HD Raws.)

meh x.xHmmm. I thought that usually worked the other way around.

I'm also outside the US and Canada, and watching anime in 720p is teh way to go. I actually really hope someone does that.

so did I.
