shows how much i've been keeping in touch with things. Darn states! you guys gotta steal everything. next thing you know, you'll be eating our maple syrup and our poutine.
-
Trust me, nobody wants your poutine.
-
can't say poutine sucks till ya tried it, and can't say FMA anime sucks, till ya watched it. ;)
-
So fourth episode. Get your box of hankies ready.
- The beginning shows Scar taking out Grand. A neat little battle.
- Havoc, Fury, and Falman appear to be stuck doing paperwork involving Yoki's schemes at Youswell, so not everything is lost on that front.
- Scar's method of disposal still leaves a lot of blood.
I was kind of on the fence with Scar's new seiyuu, Kenta Miyake, when I first heard he would be doing Scar, but he actually did a nice job. He sounded at lot like the old seiyuu. I think Grand might still be voiced by his old one; not entirely sure there.

Who needs your maple syrup! We've got our own! proud New Englander

The new episode wasn't anything less than I'd expected, but it was easily a lot sadder than the original. The chimera crying and talking more gets to ya :/
It reminds me how strong Gran really is, whereas the old anime portrayed him as quite a weakling :P
-
Yea let me use the philosopher's stone to pwn this guy
Oh no
I just guy the back of my head blown out without even doing anything:ninja:.

i thought this time it was emotionally weaker. maybe because they rushed everything, where as last time they took 2 episodes to develop it. or maybe i've just seen it so many times, it doesn't affect me anymore? I like how ED had that flashback of his own dad too busy to play.
-
I m disappointend that Gran wasnt drunk, that would moar funnier. But great episode, waiting those newest chapters come alive…

Well he wasn't drunk in the manga… actually we never seen his death in the manga. The metal alchemist dude was the drunk one :P

My thoughts exactly -_-

You mean the Silver Alchemist, Comanche, who I thought was pretty cool, despite his sparse appearances (when Scar killed him and briefly during the Ishbal War flashback). But as for Grand, Arakawa did depict him being offed in a rough sketch Omake. Basically, he was walking home and Scar walked up behind him and killed him.
-

Agreed, exactly my thoughts. Heck, we barely saw Nina..still a pretty good episode though.
I like Scar's new VA, but can't get used to Mustang sounding like Lockon Stratos, his original voice was stronger imo. -
u can watch it in austraili its actuly online in austrailia for free before america
-

Thank you, this guy knows. And Silver Alchemist death is only coming, just wait. I would be hilarious if anime would do Grand like Arakawas omake… simply hilarious. But they in somepoint that they wanted fancy epic fight between Grand and Scar. That was quite good, but shamely short. Iron Blood got neat alchemy. Well, lets they do good I-war episodes.
-
Interesting news regarding the DVDs.
I remember reading that short story. It was pretty creepy in the end.

Watched episode 5
OH WOW <3 I've been worried that the new series wouldn't have as big of an impact for me because I already know what's going to happen, but OH WOW. I was at the edge of my seat for this episode. They handled it excellent. And to think they built it all up with only one episode, where as, I think last time, this part took 2 episodes?
Armstrong's battle was amaizing. I can really give this character serious credit. And the new voice actors are working out well for the most part. I wasn't too sure about Glutony's voice in the beginning of this episode. :( Is Envy's voice actor the same as Ed? I need to hear more of it.
also, "impotent" snicker
hey, anyone else having issues with timing? I play them with CCCP codex and classic media player. (as they don't seem to work with other players)
I've downloaded a few eclipse, one from the alchemists, and a few from shinsen subs. -
Gluttony is played by the same person who did Lloyd in Code Geass. Tetsu Shiratori has such a funny voice. And Envy is not voiced by Ed's seiyuu. His new seiyuu sounds a bit more boyish than the one from the first series, which a tad bit more androgynous.
The art was a wee bit inconsistent at times, but the action was very fluid and handled really well. Thumbs up from me.
Heh, Isaac and Giolio Cormanchet (future peg leg guy) got cameos in the Ishval flashback.
-
Episode 5 was fine, but nothing special. Pretty much the exact same as the original with a few minor differences. I'm eagerly awaiting the new chapter… hoping it'll be out sometime this week.
-

It's actually Comanche, because he's named after the RAH-66 Comanche. All those associated with the military in FMA have names of aircraft: Hawkeye (E-2 Hawkeye), Armstrong (Comes from Armstrong Whitworth, a British Aircraft Manufacturer), Mustang (P-51 Mustang), Even the new filler guy Isaacs (Isaacs Spitfire or Isaacs Hellfury), and so on and so forth.
-
anyone have mp3's of the opening and ending yet?
-
The ED single came out last week, and I just happen to be listening to it right now. >_>;;
The full version of the OP is only available as a PV rip, though.
-
PV?
got a link for the ending?
-
Chapter 95 is up on one manga; it's ok. I loved the continuation of the Sloth fight, though I was hoping this chapter would conclude the fight. I'm really hoping next week's chapter will finish it, then the focus can shift back to Father/Hoenhime, and generally zero in on the ending.
And I'm starting to think it won't end at 100; I'm thinking more like 110.
-
So Envy finally bit the dust this time… It was all right, but I felt that the ''envious of humans'' bit kind of came out of nowhere, and was only for the sake of trying to give him a meaningful send off. Ah well, what can ya say?
As for this week's episode, they cut Marco's meeting with Lust short, so you just see her sitting in his house when he gets back from the train station. Still works for an ''Oh shit!'' moment though.
-
I saw something in a US anime magazine about something called FMA:brotherhood
is that a sequel to the FMA anime?
or something different? -
How much more awesome can these chapters get? Not only do we get a great Envy send-off (it made sense to me . . .), but we get a great Mustang and Hawkeye interaction. Can we just call them canon now?
Not to mention the Armstrongs, aka "The Greatest Family Ever."
And the coup de grace . . . . . IZUMI!!! "I'm an Alchemist!" God I love it.
-

I don't think it was a meaningful sendoff, more than it was proper defeat. Envy was a creature that compensated for his desires by angering the people he wanted to be and making them undesirable, consumed by their own hatred, to be pitied rather than envied. The team didn't respond to Envy's provocations and made him come to term with his own flaws. He took himself out because he realized that he could never be like the humans he desired to be, even through his transformations. Ed made that happen through understanding and delivering a sharp realization of the truth to him.
That's what I think, anyways. Nice chapter, though. Each one makes me feel how close we are to the end. The number of homunculi are decreasing (3 left, 4 if Wrath's still around). One of those is close to defeat and the other is an ally. Then there's Father. Unfortunately, the end is nigh.
-
Eh, Envy has by and large been depicted as a Card Carrying Villain; one who is a complete bastard and absolutely revels in it. While I suppose it could be said that him being envious of humans was the cause of this, and he tried to cover it up by constantly belittling them and how they try to cling on, that aspect hadn't been brought up until now, at the very end. I just feel that that side of him was sorely underrepresented, and could've been subtly hinted at more. Or maybe it has and I just haven't been able to pick up on it.
That's all.
-
I think it has, subtly. It reminds me of Shakespeare's quote "Methinks the man doth protest too much." The fact that Envy was constantly ramming people's flaws down their throats could be seen as insecurity. That and the fact that his true form is an ugly little fetus.
-
When FMA is over I will reread it, and then I'll see if Envy was truly envious of the humans or not, besides even if it wasn't developed enough, it fits with the ENVY theme.
How badass can the Armstrong get?? The shoulder realocation was excelent!! and Olivia getting in charge of anyone and creating an efficient combat unit of even the central maggots is awe inspiring.
Finaly Izumi, my favorite mother figure (sans Robin, but I can't see her as a mother) in manga is ready to take the stage, the Alchemist Housewive indeed.
I hope that the Armstrongs don't finish off Sloth, of the remaning (evil) Homonunculi, he is the least deserving to die, is a Fat Buu case again, try reasoning with him and be over with, besides, they have only killed him twice, it isn't factible to finish him fast enough.
The thing that I'm kind of worried about is the matter of the human sacrifices, Izumi, Ed, Al and Hoho are in central, but isn't a fifth needed? I don't see any other alchemist who saw the truth around.. unless Pride somehow is now human enough (after ingesting Kimbley, if he could absorb part of glutony, maybe he could absorb something of him too) to try human transmutation and be the fifth.
-

I don't know, I got that feeling from his ability the first time I saw it. It's an ability that the user tries to become human with, but can't do so completely. I thought fitting that through the Envy theme produced a personality envious of humans.

I'm pretty sure that Roy is supposed to be one too. I believe Lust lamented having to kill him a while back… Here we go... http://www.onemanga.com/Full_Metal_Alchemist/39/06/
-
Yes, Roy was suposed to, but unless Miss Arakawa dares to kill Riza, it ain't going to happen, right now, even if it hapens Roy doesn't feel capable.
-
but unless Miss Arakawa dares to kill Riza.
Ooh, don't even say that shudders
Anyway, awesome chapter as always. Loved Envy's sendoff and the Roy/Riza Interaction was superb. I was actually almost expecting a kiss, but I guess I should know better ^_^; Well, it's hard to believe that after so long that sadistic little bastard is finally dead.
The Armstrong fight was good also, but I think it's gone on just a tad too long. I hope they end it next chapter, or next time they get back into it.
Oh, and yes it's awesome seeing Izumi again! But I'm still wondering WTF Wrath, Greed/Ling, and Ran Fan are doing.
-
after envy called ed a shrimp for an instant i thought ed would accidently squish him to death as a natural reflex to being offended about his size, but gladly things turned out to have a much better ending when i flipped to the next page :)
i actually felt sorry for envy being reduced to little more than nothing and entirly seen-through and humiliated by eds analysis. i'm glad he finally got his punishment, but i'll miss him somehow, i think (maybe he'll be reborn as a bug next time around).
and soon after i almost got a mancrush on alex when he took a beating from sloth just to relocate his arm… man, how badass can one be?!! just AWESOME!!!
FMA chapters never cease to exite me!!
with alex and olivia still fighting and eds and als teacher on the loose, next chapter is going to be brilliant as well! -
I wonder…is Envy's envy of humans the reason behind his personality?
Either way, Olivier & Luise kicked ass, if this does not make it into the anime eventually I will go pissed off Luise Armstrong+Gen'ei-jin on some people... -
Good chapter, envy's end was rather fitting didn't expect him to commit suicide. The armstrong siblings battle with the emo zombies and Sloth was neat especially the beating alex gave sloth and I had a feeling that ed and al's alchemic teacher would show up. Well seem's like we have 5 chapters left.
-
Well seem's like we have 5 chapters left.
What makes you say that?
Did she say she would end it at 100?Seems like it might need a bit more than 5, maybe 8-10 if nothing else

Well, that was her stance a little while back… seems to have updated:

A recent interview, translated.
Oh, and amazing chapter. Envy's theme fits him perfectly, and Alex was awesome as always. Oh, and Izumi's back, which means some faces are about to get broken.
-

or something different?Awww, you guys ignored little KF22.
It's not a sequel, it's a remake… well, no, it's not even that. It's an anime adaption which is following the original manga's storyline (tho it still has fillers). The original FMA anime kinda followed it own storyline, taking bits and pieces from the manga's.
-
This has been beaten more times than Super Mario Bros 3 using the whistle.
that's the most clever thing I had ever heard, lol
-
^^ That is what you call a re-boot.
also…this chapter is awesome (can't wait for some Izumi take action and other crap like that)
-
Hole. Lee. Crap.
After reading comments in this thread for the past couple weeks, I took this weekend to go from where the Viz releases left off in the Manga and catch up online with Scanlations. I just finished Chapter 95. I'm a bit reluctant to say, but I got a bigger rush from reading all that than I did from the entire Impel Down arc. (Forgive me Oda!) Between waiting for more of this and ID, I feel like my summer is gonna rock! I just couldn't stop until I was forced too cause I ran out of chapters. Now I've got hours of homework to do and little time left in my sunday to do it. But it was worth it. Here's looking forward to 96. -
The new anime is only on episode 7, and already they are at the 5th laboratory! that leaves a lot of room for new fun doesn't it. ^^
-
Haven't seen the episode yet, but I'm a bit bummed that Barry is no longer being voiced by Kentaro Ito. He has an entertaining voice.
I picked up Vol. 18 the other day, and Viz's translation flip-flopping strikes again. ''Van'' Hohenheim has been changed to ''Von'', what it's in all likelihood supposed to be, yet in the preview for Vol. 19 they use Van again.
I was kind of surprised to not see any advertisements in there for Funi's streaming of Brotherhood.
-

….why should it not be Van?
My mothers maiden name is Van-Evelingen. Sounds likely enough
-
Well, the name of the guy he's inspired by is Philippus Theophrastus Aureolus Bombastus von Hohenheim. though we usually call him Paracelsus.
-
the next episode is going to be awesome I allways thought that lab 5 was one of the better story segments in this series not to mention barry the butcher is a rather awesome character.
