I wonder if perhaps the inclusion of the other supanovas getting into fights represents that there will be a brief period where the story will shift focus onto their crews… Thus essentially creating a short "time skip" for the SH in which to get stronger.

Of course I don't mean a solid time skip a la Naruto, what I mean is more, maybe 3 or 4 months (in OP time) will pass while we read about Kid and Uroge and etc, during this time the SH are training, I say this because I can't see either a full time skip or a training montage fitting in with one piece's story style.

whoa, this was easily the best one piece movie. It didn't feel at all crammed in the way tv show-movies usually do, I think the longer running time really helped in terms of pacing. The story had all of the great one piece elements we all love, and the music was effing sensational.

A few criticisms though:
=Neither Nami nor Robin got in any form of decent fighting, and both were stuck in damsel in distress mode, this tends to irritate me especially since Robin is supposed to be in the stronger part of the crew.
=Short fights, I know time is an issue in movies, but they could have cut back on other things .
=Stupid villains, this is probably my pet hate in one piece, villains that switch from being morons to being evil geniuses. I don't mind in the case of weaker villains like Buggy and so forth, but when the big bad of the movie keeps switching, I think it takes away from his evil. Also I found Dr indigos footsteps annoying, and I'm unsure of the purpose? Maybe it's the type of thing 10 year old boys find funny or something

On a side note - does anyone know if there is or will be an OST available for this movie?

The problem with Vivi rejoining is that she can't actually do anything..

lets look at the weaker characters on the ship.
-Usopp, works as the sniper and also provides comic relief.
-Nami, works as the navigator and also provides fan service.
-Chopper, works as the doctor and also provides comic relief and mascot ability.

Although these characters are weaker than the rest they still provide other elements essential to both the fictional ship and the success of the manga.
Vivi seems to have a lot of fans but she is still a weak character and she doesn't bring any new abilities or features to the crew.

On top of which consider what it took the SH to get to Sabaody, how the hell is Vivi going to make it there?

I think the final villain is likely to be someone unknown as of yet, but I do agree that shanks will play some role in the final battle(s). One Piece I believe is going to be one of two things:
a. Litterally one piece of gold, i.e gold rogers treasure was never that great it was his actions that made him the pirate kings
b. A message of some kind implying that the tresure is the memories of the adventures they had to get to raftel.

I think the series will conclude with the crew still together sailing on another adventure of some kind. Because apart from the impracticality of everyone returning to their hometowns I can't see why they would feel such a huge desire to do so over staying with their crewmates.

Well no, the opposite doesn't hold the same weight, because new viewers to the series, or viewers who have always seen the word translated will be confused at the appearance of a random japanese word halfway through a sentence, also I argue that those who want nakama can hear it, those who want friend can read it, thus serving everyone's needs.

I think if you're not paying enough attention to the episode to hear when they say nakama (which you always can because it's almost always done dramatically) I have to wonder why you're bothering to watch the series at all? If you're not paying attention to the sound then you may as well just stick to manga, which then solves the entire problem!

I really don't understand the big deal about the 'nakama' thing, I mean if it's translated into "friends/comrades/shipmates/whatever" we can all hear them say 'nakama' so those who care will know what they mean anyway, making the choice to translate the word not really an issue. I personally don't care either way, but I think it should be translated for people who are new to the series.

I really think that only things which should be left untranslated are the fruit names and their subsequent attacks (eg "gomu gomu" instead of "gum gum" ) this is simply because the fruit names are like proper nouns and I don't believe proper nouns should be translated.

It's a shame you guys won't be able to do the fillers as you're the only group I'm aware of which is up to date with current episodes, not to mention you get them out fast and at a good quality

I don't think eating meat is wrong. It's all a matter of beliefs and values. If you don't wanna eat meat and be mean to animals, fine. don't forse your beliefs on others.

I do, however applaud their efforts against the cruel treatment of farm animals. not their methods though. This is a sad joke and everyone is laughing at them. They need to act a little more serious if they want people to take them serious. This is not serious. it is stupid.

I agree whole heartedly with everything you say, while Peta generally does have reasonable values behind its actions it's methods are completely off, from their lame videogame rip offs to their bizarro semi-pornographic-furry protests. The WSPCA (also the RSPCA for those in Australia) is a much better example of an animal welfare group - they simply ask for petition signatures and the occasional dontation, not this crazy "everyone-should-be-vegan-NOW" nonsense. I am an animal lover but I still eat meat. Humans are omnivorous meangin we're supposed to eat meat, thats why we HAVE canine and incisor teeth, instead of being vegan I show my value by buying free range meats and eggs which supports the free range industry hence encouraging growth in said industry.

I have huge issues with Brooke joining - I dislike his character and design and I feel that he didn't really JOIN join the crew the way most of the others did. I mean if you adhere to the number chapter theory the initially less epically joined character (Nami, Usopp and Robin also franky) officially joined after going through something with the help of the rest of the crew, However Brooke's already gotten his number chapter and in my opinion his reasons for joining were a bit blase.

Also it feels odd to me to have him joining so soon after franky, I mean the first five joined pretty quick, but that was kinda necessary, then chopper and robin joined with decent gaps between them (if only because alabasta is such a long arc) then we had jaya/skypia/daveyback fight/water 7 plus fillers in between robin and franky, and then brooke joins after what seemed to be such a short arc. it just feels off to me

hmm I can't pick a number 2 or a number 3, but the stand out best one for me will always be Majora's mask.

It was all the things I love about one piece rolled into a neat package minus the overly long fight scenes (yeah I'm sorry but I hate it when the fights drag out so long).

Also Usopps 'Condoriano' was epic win enough to justify the entire arrc

I've always loved the brief scene in one of the openings or closings (can't remember which) of the crew brushing their teeth and Luffy with the fish!

Merry showing up to save everyone at eines lobby was also awsome

Crazy Rainbow is by far my favourite, I think in part because I was very fond of the animation they used for that opening: in particular the way the letters of the title are scattered across the beach, also how it was mostly all scenes of them doing things together them hanging out at the beach and such

I hope they decide to have an ending theme as well this time. I really liked crazy rainbow but I like having ending themes to things, it just ties it off neatly.

honestly when I first saw a random episode in the morgan arc (dub) I was like pff wtf is this shit. Stupis lame boy anime. Then they replaced one of my morning cartoons and I watched it for the sake of watching. After Usopp's arc I started to get a little into it then after the arlong arc I fell in love and decided to get hold of the recent japanese eps and start collecting the manga.

Superchops, you get a gold star for the phamtom of the Opera part of project two piece. It sounds like how I'd imagine Robin would sound if she were to sing.

Well the only hints I can think of is how Dumbledore was always "I have something which causes me to trust snape no matter what and i won't tell you because it would be spoiler"

I didn't mind the book as a whole, I felt she crammed way to much in though and you just felt overloaded with information (some of which you really didn't care about) The final battle was probably the most. anticlimactic. thing. ever. and the Epilogue made me want to throw up. Fair enough she want to tell everyone what happened bu "albus Severus"? eugh. I'm less interesting in their kids name and more interested in what their jobs are, and what happened to the weasly wizards wheezes after fred died, also who's the new minister for magic and the new headmaster of howarts amoung alot of other things which jk didn't include.

In terms of her writing style I know alot of people say its badly written, i think this is due mostly to her conversational style, which is also what makes it such a quick read. If you go back and read the first book, you'll notice the child like voice which she uses really adds charm to the simple style, which I think is why the first book was so popular, however from about book 3 on this voice was lost and most of the charm in her writing was gone. Plus she has habit of writing things stupidly as if trying to sound intellegent ("it was not I who killed you Albus!"). (btw all this is based on cretaive writing course I've done through uni and not just random dirbble.)

I also agree with one of the earlier points in this thread about the story gowing downhill since book4, before then it was all magical adventures and them solving mysterys and such but then when voldemort came back it was all angst and darkness, Hell I'm fairly sure somewhere in the 6th book it says something like "harry didn't feel excited like he would have in his first year with a mystery to get to the bottom of" or something simillar.

Also it shits me that Sirius never came back. Every Father figure Harry's ever had has died and Sirius was the only one who seemed slightly plausible to come back because of the manner of his death. Hell even his uncle figure (lupin) died. which I think was a cop out easy way to get out of dealing with the werewolf thing.

I'm really excited about Nami's VA the other one didn't have the right voice for any emotional serious scenes. But after Luci Christian did Kaname in Full Metal Panic, and Himeno in pretear, I think she'll pull it off quite nicely.

I personally would like to know who Luffy's mother is (Ace's too if she's the same person).

it might be an interesting idea though it poses a problem since his horns disapear in heavy point. So he'd have to break it off before hand maybe? even then though how would the tranformation of horn to sword work?

Though I do like the idea of chopper getting stronger, I mean everyone (bar Robin) got a powerup in Eines Lobby and he's the only one who can't really use his without hurting himself. Though monster point is extremely awsome and I would like to see more of it I can see chopper trying to create a "monster ball" which allows him to take the monster point form instantly but maintain at least some level of control.

Ah I'm a bit of a luffyxNami shipper. Firstly being a girl and a fan of shoujo anime its engrained in my being that the two main characters (of opposite genders) should hook up. (and yes I know robin is of opposite gender too however by the time she came along I was already hooked on luffy/nami). Also there are some very strong hinting towards the couple. Firstly yes arlong arc, I'm not going to bother explaining why etc I'm sure you all know. Also Luffy's determination to get nami to a dr etc. Then there's luffy's reliance on her, firstly he's alsways getting her to fix his hat then in alot of the movies (I know I know movies aren't cannon!) he tends to rely on her for help eg: movie 7 when they fall into the pit filled with sea water it's Nami's name luffy calls out for wanting comfort not anyone elses.

Of course Luffy has poor captaining skills. Thats why half the time someone else will run the crew. Despite this though when one of his nakama need him he'll be there and thats more important to his crew than having someone who can navigate or read architectual ruins and as was mentioned above re-read the arlong arc.

Also note that we are talking about pirates here, typically for pirates the captain of the crew is the one who wins the most fights ie the strongest, irrespective of skill.

I think 1000 sunny carrying merry's spirit would be super weird since technically sunny should have a spirit of its own anyway. :S

The point is, he cares about his crew. They're his nakama as far as he's concerned. Satch looks like and probably was a douche, but Whitebeard cared about him enough to send one of his top men to avenge his death by eliminating the one "bad egg" in his crew. That shows that he generally cares about the people he's with, even if they're likely not his original nakama from twenty-two years ago.

Wait a sec wasn't Ace obligated to go after blackbeard because he was under Ace's commmand or something like that?

I think its perfectly plausible that Crocus was the ships doctor, firstly because he said he was once a doctor on a pirate ship, and secondly because he knows Roger.

I also belive that Kureha could have been on his ship however I'd say she was a thief rather than a doctor. I'm getting this from the one line in the anime where Hiruluk calls her the "theif Doctor". As for her being a doctor at present its been a fair while since Roger died which gives her plenty of time to learn Medicine (since a modern medicine degree is only like 5 years or so). Her bedside manner suggests that she was not a classically trained doctor which says to me that she perhaps started learning from crocus and then after Roger's death came to drum Island to complete her training.

Zeff could be part of the crew as Sanji said "He used to cook for a famous Pirate" this implies that at some stage he was a ship's cook rather than a captain, and the timeframe seems plausible for him to have started his own crew and such after Roger's death. Though it probably means he was rather young on Roger's ship giving that he doesn't seem to be as old as Kureha or Crocus.

I also don't think Tom could have been a member of the crew since he was busy training Iceburg and Franky at water 7.

On a side note exactly how long has it been since Roger's execution?
I know it has to have been at least 20 years?

I was thinking about this at work tonight and the more I thought about it the more it bugs me.

The way luffy's attitude changes about Merry

at the start of water 7 he's all "Merry's our nakama etc" and seems upset when buying a new ship is suggested. Then when we get to before the Usopp/luffy fight Luffy is all "It's only a boat who cares!" Then after Merry rescues them he reverts to "Merry's our nakama"

and it really got me wondering what the hell? I mean I know Luffy's simple but surely not that simple?

I agree with you superchops, I think alot of the time people don't understand that most make amvs for the fun of it, and for a series like one piece its near impossible to get some of the super old episodes raw
