You know, it's funny…
He said "Santouryu" alot more in the 4kids dub. XD
You know, it's funny…
He said "Santouryu" alot more in the 4kids dub. XD
Yeah, and I'm pretty sure the reason was that they just felt like it. XD
Well, FUNi didnt try to correct the Zoro cutting steel thing, in case anyone wanted to know.
Zoro: Steel chains, huh?
Luffy: Can you cut it?
Zoro: There isn't anything I CAN'T cut.
See, I think FUNi's gonna just keep on switching from using the Japanese name to using the English name when they please… and I really hope they don't do that. >_>
As for "Raikiri" and "Chidori"... well... I guess Sasuke just wanted to name it differently...?
The only time I'll really accept any of this is like if they do it like Viz did with "Chidori: One Thousand Birds!"
After the initial "One Thousand Birds", they never said it again and just kept with "Chidori".
That's fine.
But if they keep interchanging the translated name with the Japanese name, then it's just sloppy. I really don't care what the official dub owners tell you.
Otherwise, we might as well have Luffy scream out Gomu Gomu no and Gum Gum whenever he feels like in the English dub. Sorry, but it's just jarring to me. They should just stick to one term no matter what.
No matter what, it's inconsistent.
Just stick with one name, please. I don't really care if it's the American or Japanese term… as long as they just keep one. >_>
No matter what he says, it just makes it seem sloppy.
Yeah, I know Mike said this could happen… but I rather things be consistent. >_>
I don't think they changed Ace's name for any particular reason…
It was changed... because they felt like it most likely.
Don't be stupid guys.
4Kids would just treat it as any other text in the show (well they didn't erase ALL text… just most) and simply just erase "BIBLE"... thus making it just a book.
Duh.
I want to make a joke about how the Naruto volume with all the emo glory on the cover is selling better than the more recent one with the cheery frogs, but I won't.
Its a perfect showing on how the American fanbase is. >_>
4Kids One Piece was panned mainly because of the voices, music changes and early episode deletions.
The violence edits towards the later episodes of the dub were edited, yes, but not to the point of what that guys said on his list.
The guy had a stupid list and Tsukento merely debunked him. And if you have actually seen the 4Kids dub in it's entirety (like me and he has, not that I'm proud of that) you would see what he means.
Again, I need to say, the dub was edited… but that list was exaggerated. Severely. That, sir, is the point.
Yeah no shit.
I said that he can't possibly be the greatest game character ever if he doesn't have a personality. That wasn't complaining. Now stop responding for fuck's sake. Hopefully even you know how stupid your argument is.
Only if you realize how stupid your claim was.
Joost completely removed their One Piece section now, just like Hulu.
I don't like the sound of that. =(
….
UGH.........
Most of those examples you gave are horribly idiotic. Not only are you using shows with different editing standards for most of your examples, but sometimes you aren't even comparing similar examples.
Team Rocket "blasting off again" does not equal Usopp being beaten unconscious and requiring medical treatment. And yeah, 4Kids did once cut a whole episode of Pokemon because the Safari Park Warden pointed a shotgun at the kids.
How you can call his points "idiotic", yet completely ignore that horrible exaggerated list (although if it's meant to be exaggerated, disregard this) is beyond me.
The blue prints for the weapon are changed to directions to a candy machine….? Are you fucking serious? :getlost:
Now for everyone else, gun edits for the later parts of One Piece's 4Kids dub were equated to just recoloring the gun to a different color (green mostly). They left in the billions shooting Mr. 11 and have left in Luffy being shot by them numerous times. Even Kohza getting shot was left in (though they flashed out the scene of the actual impact, they left the sound and the smoke coming from the guns thereafter).
Believe me, compared to that list... they're not THAT bad. And before anyone says it, they were not worse.
Dub still sucked though. >_>
Wow
I don't know if it's you guys trying to have fun or anything, but…
Exaggerations ahoy. >_>
WTF @ FUNi using Climate Baton again, I thought that shit was over with.
What's wrong with that?
Tact does mean baton, after all…
People got Episode 10 of Phantom before it aired in Japan, on torrent sites, apparently they also have One Piece Episode 404 too. No torrent for it yet.
Lol, if that's true…
Huh? Did I miss something?
Well this is odd. Now I can see why Viz would delete that post on their blog about the Simulcast but that listing for Vol. 23 is completely gone. I don't want to jump to conclusions so soon but maybe Viz is backing way from the whole jumping ahead in the magazine. I guess it would suit them being the pricks they are with this series.
Vol. 21 should already be out in stores now so someone can check if they really do plan on holding off Vol. 22 for another four months.
Wow.
If this happens, it would only be another blow. Upon the many many blows…
Not gonna see many optimistic people anymore if this comes to pass...
I don't know much about Shaman King, but in the One Piece dub they always worked around it… Like Bellemere (I think that was her name? It's been a long long long time since I watched the Arlong arc), instead of being killed, they changed it to her "being sent to a dungeon" or something like that.
Not true. It's true that sometimes they change a character to "not die".
But alot of times they just used other words that mean the same thing as "die". Like taken out or done in or whatever….
I think enough has happened to this series that being "pessimistic" is fine.
Too much of either is annoying, but I guess it just falls on how you are.
Pretty sure that this isn't going to affect the manga in any way. I find it pretty unlikely that anything that goes wrong on FUNimation's end is going to mess up Viz, since they liscense their projects from different people.
Watch it somehow happen anyways.
with this fandom, stuff that don't seem probable end up happening. :getlost:
Yup.
Our fandom is a lose-lose situation. We, uh… just can't win.
Skull Kid.
You are the worst kind of fan. The worst. Bar-fucking-none.
Looking at different forums, it seems a lot of people are actually giving up on One Piece's chances here.
It's… pretty depressing actually.
I really can't blame 'em though considering all the shit that has happened. Hopefully FUNi can manage to give them some hope.
So I hit funimation.com tonight hoping to see their first episode and I get that message instead.
Fantastic. Someone pirates the episode early, so in response, they deprive the people who actually went to the place they wanted them to go to of being able to see the episode. Pretty much ensuring that those people NEVER go back to funimation.com to watch One Piece.
Brilliant plan.
I know you guys are like "that one pirate ruined it for everyone!" but pirates are pirates and funimation should be finding and punishing that guy, instead they're punishing everyone. Actually, they're not even punishing everyone, they're punishing ONLY their supporters since those that go to their site will just keep on getting fansubs.
They were most likely told to do so by Toei/Fuji.
I'd like to point something out to you. Something that I am not particularly happy about either, but it needs to be said.
FUNimation also pulled all of the FMA Brotherhood episodes off.
I see.
What does it say for those? Does it mention the One Piece thing?
So it did get taken off.
Wow, I want to do horrible things to these people who did this. I'm talking about stuff… Oooh, boy. I am a violent beast.
I really hate it when people don't comprehend things when I explain it flat out…
I really hate it when people assume I don't get things when I, in fact, did get it.
Open your eyes, bub.
This is…well....just a sad day in the history of OP D..: . But in the words of monty python, "Always look on the bright side of life."
MP is right. Think of the good things. Hey atleast we still have our DVDS. They may have taken the s.c. away but they aint taking our DVDS.
We're quickly running out of "bright things". >_>
"It could have easily happened to Naruto and FMA"
Exactly. but look: It happened to One Piece. And therefore lies my point.
Sadly, that's just the kind of fucked up world we live in.
Another imfamous tale in he U.S One Piece history.
What a piece of shit. :getlost:
(the situation)
It's just sad they constantly have to fight through the shit. Well, One Piece in general…
Well, whether or not it comes back, it still doesn't change the fact that shit like this seemingly only happens to One Piece.
AP is awesome, it just turns into a zoo on days like this.
And days like this are common for us.
That would've been relevant had this been the first time this series got burned.
But I'm afraid it's not.
Don't believe me if you don't want to.
But it's just plain common sense. But if you wanna wait forever, be my guest.
I'm not saying anything until it's 100% confirmed that we'll never get the simulcast.
Not this stage again.
You know no ones ever gonna state that outright. No company ever does that. They just do the act.
But that's exactly how it is. Fuck being mature.
That time long past when One Piece got screwed over the third time (look at Tsukento's post).
This event is nothing sort of astounding. It amazes me just how much bad luck this series has here. 'Tis all I'm sayin'…
What I wanna know is: Why does shit like this ONLY happen to One Piece?
Naruto? Got by fine…
FMA? Got by fine...
But the moment, the INSTANCE, that One Piece tries the same thing... It gets boned.
.... If that's not a sign, I don't know what is.
…..
One Piece just never catches a break here. Just... just fuck it.
Nope.
The Leak screwed us, we're not getting this anymore. Someone screwed this up for everyone…
I mean, if I turn out to be wrong, then yay, but yeah... Toei and/or Fuji is/are gonna be pissed, if they aren't already.
This official FUNi sub thing is sadly over...Again, I COULD be wrong, they COULD have just taken down those eps in order to tighten security before re-uploading everything... but I really doubt it...
FUCK, man. FUCK. Everytime something good happens to the series along comes something bad to totally dampen the whole thing up.
Son of a fucking bitch. Damn fandom…
I guess.
The scene does have a climatic feel to it.
Cause Nami is fan service central in One Piece. XD
You're forgetting that Alabasta was in select theaters. I expect no less for Strong World.
You're forgetting Alabasta BOMBED in theaters… Even for a select showing.
I don't see FUNi goin' through all that again.
I wonder if there's still a chance to get that box art changed. If I recall correctly, there were complaints on the first boxset art and it got changed.
That only happened because they were using old stock art for the DVDs. People complained, and I guess they got Toei to do new artwork for 'em…
But seeing how this is already new art work...
Wow I don't think I ever laughed THAT hard.. thanks.
…
shit were you being serious?
It's Terek. -_-;
@Brad:
Y'know…it'd be hilariously awful if Viz would print the latest chapters in Jump…but never publish the in-between stuff.
Lol, you know… That could very well happen.
Watch, with our luck.
