Hannyabal always reminded me of Starscream, but I didn't expect his voice to be high-pitched like Starscream!
I kinda like it.
Hannyabal always reminded me of Starscream, but I didn't expect his voice to be high-pitched like Starscream!
I kinda like it.
I think Moria just shat a brick!
EDIT Also, it was cool when Luffy intercepted Crocodile's attack on Whitebeard. It was also good to see Smoker and Tashigi again. Honestly, I really don't know what else to say about this chapter that probably hasn't already been said.
Not gonna lie… Captain N was one of my favorite cartoons from my childhood. It had an awesome premise and had limitless potential, but it was FAR from a good show. Despite the countless flaws, I still love the show very much. In fact, I still like to hunt down episodes online and watch them (the original episodes, not the DVD episodes which lack the copyrighted '80s music). One of my favorite things about the show is that Link wasn't a lecherous douche like he was in the Super Mario Bros. Super Show. In fact, once he realized that Kevin wasn't trying to steal his thunder, he became a good friend/recurring character. However, even to this day, I say that there's NO FUCKING EXCUSE for why Samus was a no-show!
As for the latest review, I've been waiting for him to tackle Captain N for almost a year. I've said to myself that this day was gonna come and it did. Now that the day is here, I gotta admit, I'm actually kinda disappointed. While the overall review was funny, I'm honestly surprised that the Critic went so easy on it! The one thing that puzzled me is the footage from the 'How's Bayou?' episode, because I've seen that episode many times and I don't remember any scenes with missing backgrounds. Then again, I heard that the DVD set was made from the ORIGINAL broadcast copies that NBC used, but even so, I don't remember any missing backgrounds back in '89. My guess is that they probably added the backgrounds at the last minute before broadcast.
FACT: The voice of Kid Icarus/Pit was done by an 11-year-old Alessandro Juliani. Recently, he did the English voice of L, from Death Note.
Kuma would SO have a dopey-ass retard voice, a la Big the Cat. Also, his Bible would be a coloring book, picture book, or SOME kind of children's book.
Just started a new file on Super Mario Sunshine, and I'm about to take on Petey Piranha.
Well, so much for my spray-on tan theory for Sokka and Katara. However, I am willing to forgive this if the movie turns out to be good.
Finally this guy is dead, he has done nothing to change this world. His only bequest are boy bands, girl bands, pop sluts and retarded dance videos.
Even his music is bad, you can count his good songs on one hand. Only people like Bob Geldorf deserve a hurly-burly like that. He wasn't a pedophile, that was only attached by this stupid media, but he was a psychopath. Or why do you make thousands of cosmetic surgerys on your nose and build a amusement park on your own property,
Yeah, a post like THIS is just what this thread needs. sarcasm detector explodes:getlost:
Thanks for the awesome find! I bookmarked it for later use and I also think a certain dictator approves of that site, too!
I saw the movie twice and the action was amazing, as expected with Michael Bay and giant CG robots…
! The story was very Transformers-ish and it could possibly work as a television series or comic. The jokes were funny, though overdone at times, such as the Witwicky family's dogs humping (Just once was enough, no need to show us again a few minutes later). Speaking of which, Wheelie humping Mikaela's leg was also pushing it. Seriously, is there a pattern here? I did laugh at Sam screaming like a girl, when they were being chased by the Deceptislut (sorry, Nostalgia Critic)!
! As for the robots, I'll start with the twins, Skids and Mudflap. I wasn't offended by them at all, I saw them less as negative black stereotypes, but more like suburban white kids trying to ACT black. Oh, and I thought they were pretty funny myself. Sideswipe was way too awesome to have gotten such limited screentime and it sucks that two of the three Arcees were killed. I was smiling when I saw the good old-fashioned bickering between Megatron and Starscream. The Fallen was cool, but I wish he put up more of a fight against Jet Optimus. Overall, I liked all the bots in the movie, but I'm still upset that they didn't even attempt to emulate Soundwave's G1 voice.
! The fight in the forest was the most kick-ass part of the movie, it's no surprise the final battle couldn't top it.
My final verdict, the movie was good but I still like the first one better.
He pretty much hit the nail on the head, regarding TF2. I didn't find it as enjoyable as the first one either, but it had enough kickass stuff in it to satisfy me.
Love the cameo by you-know-who at the end.
Damn, it's been confirmed just a few minutes ago.
RIP Michael.
:wassat:What the gay?
Yeah, I mentioned it already. Apparently, you didn't fully read my earlier post.
I don't see how it's lingering in their nostrils and most of them didn't even go see it.
My point is that DB: Evolution is crap on a stick, but releasing the DVD with that bullshit "Z-Edition" tag is pretty much another nasty reminder that this dirty piece of franchise abuse even exists.
EDIT And furthermore, the fact that it exists has no doubt put off many moviegoers to the idea of another live-action DB movie.
A reboot? Are you serious?!
This isn't something that Fox can just "reboot and try again," they need to give the fuck up, publicly apologize for making such a blatantly awful movie, and let someone else try it in about five years to a decade from now! Hopefully, this epic cinematic failure will teach a lesson to all who were involved in its creation. To be honest, I did find the movie to be enjoyable at some points, but it was still crap on a stick. I actually found Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li to be ten-times worse, but that's just me.
Besides, some of you probably know how much I hate LoCL by now.
The reboot thing is a HUGE mistake on Fox's part. I mean, who's really going to line up for a new-and-improved DB movie adaptation (regardless of how much better it turns out), with the smell of DB: Evolution still lingering in the nostrils of DB fans and moviegoers alike? That smell is only going to get worse, once the movie starts funking up DVD bargain bins around the country (Z-Edition…... that's a laugh)! That's why I say the DB movie franchise should be put on hold for several years and placed in more capable and caring hands.
I would like to see a half-decent DB movie, but I'm in no hurry to see a new attempt so damn soon.
With Punch-Out!! on the brain lately, I almost got as psyched as Luffy seeing him with the wax boxing gear! As long as he can KO Magellan without getting touched, all that's left is to get the hell out of Impel Down!
Speaking of which, Jinbei is officially "THE SHIT!"
Don't DVD sales count towards the profit, too? I'm sure there'll be a modest amount of those.
Yep.
Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within was a massive box-office flop, but the DVD sales managed to make back the money Columbia Pictures lost because of that flop.
A couple of things for any EarthBound/Mother fans here.
Humoresque of a Little Dog (the drug store music with lyrics)
mPsTWLmPjs4
Don't Wake Mother! (a fanmade rap remix, that uses music from Mother 1-thru-3 in all three verses)

I just got back from the theater, after seeing DB: Evolution. Seeing it on the big screen was much better than watching that crappy, 70-minute bootleg. Coming from a pretty big Dragon Ball fan, I still think it was a rather enjoyable movie. However, my biggest gripes are…
Even before the movie was finished being made, this announcement hit the DB fandom like a steel-toed boot to the head. Sure enough, the lack of Krillin was one of the biggest disappointments about the film. It's not like they couldn't have written him into the screenplay! Similar to the original story, he would have to start out as a douchebag, but becoming friendlier, thanks to his adventures with Goku and the gang.
James Marsters supposedly committed himself to this role, just like he did in his other works, but he didn't get nearly the screentime he deserved! I mean, wasn't Piccolo hyped up as 'THE BIG BAD,' from the very opening sequence of the film? So why was he barely in the movie?!
AN HOUR-AND-A-HALF?! Are you FUCKING KIDDING ME?!! The film needed to be TWO HOURS, at least! That would have upped our chances of getting Krillin, more Piccolo scenes, and an in-depth look at the world of Dragonball (preferably something closer to Toriyama's work, complete with non-extinct dinosaurs). Oh, and I'd definitely remove some stuff while I'm at it, such as any scene where Goku is having difficulty with Ki manipulation (hell, that crap ALONE, would free up a couple of minutes).
This movie could have been a classic, but they just threw it together for a quick buck, a buck they probably won't be making back! Overall, I did enjoy DB: Evolution, but I'm just disappointed at the wasted potential stinking up the air right now. I'd probably watch it again on cable TV, but I'm not spending a dime on the DVD. Besides, they already have my ticket money!
Oh, and it's still not the worst movie I've seen this year. THAT infamous title goes to SF: The Legend of Chun Li!
Marvel Super Heroes VS. Street Fighter for the PS1. Cyber Akuma was 10-times harder than he was in the arcade version! I was swearing up a storm and I was so pissed that I didn't give a crap if my dad heard me or not!
Seth in Street Fighter IV's arcade mode… 'Nuff said.
Looks like Fox is finally starting to do television advertisements for DB Evolution. However, the US TV spot focuses on the high school portion of the movie. The narrator says something like "He was an ordinary boy, until he discovered a power that could save the world" or some crap. Anyhoo, the commercial is lame and it's not helping this movie's already-low reputation.
EDIT The TV spot can also be seen on the official Adult Swim website.
Honestly, the UK TV spot was much better.
Well, at least this movie IS getting advertisements, unlike The Epic Failure of Chun Li, which had, like ZERO advertisements, aside from obligatory trailers! In case you haven't figured it out, I'm getting tons of mileage out of that movie.
I'm probably gonna see the movie again when (or if) it hits my local theater, because the bootleg featured several parts that were abruptly cut and I can't stand those kinds of crappy bootlegs.
I don't know, for some reason I just want to see the film in it's entirely.
funimation leaked a clip of the straw hats talking, includes FRANKY!!!
TROLL ALERT!!!
TROLL ALERT!!!
TROLL ALERT!!!
Magical Copypasta Powers GO!!!
I saw the theater-cam version floating around online and I thought it was pretty entertaining.
However, that doesn't mean I thought it was a good movie!
Sure, it had it's moments, but as a movie, DB Evolution is a hastily thrown-together mess! I was relieved to see that they kept in so many nods to the original story, but the movie flowed at a breakneck pace! In fact, this movie seems to suffer from the same problems as the 8th One Piece movie, which was an abridged retelling of the Alabasta arc, but with 30-second fights, missing characters, and several small time-jumps. Except, THAT movie's pacing improved about halfway through the film, while DBE's pacing only got worse the closer it got to the end! Then again, the 90-minute runtime doesn't help things, either.
I'd go into detail about what I didn't like about the story, but I'd be here all day! IMO, Goku in high school was the LEAST of my problems, I didn't find it nearly as agonizing as I thought it would be, but let's just move right along, shall we?
As for the characters, I felt they did a "decent" job of bringing them to life, Yes, "decent," but not "great." The only character they probably did a "great" job on was Roshi, and THAT'S a stretch. Regarding character gripes, my biggest one is with Yamcha. Sure, I give 'em props for trying to make a live-action version of Chris Sabat's Yamcha, but why didn't he do any real fighting? If I'm not mistaken, wasn't there a promotional image of him holding nunchucks in a battle-ready stance, back when Piccolo was gonna be Albino? What happened to that? Even in live-action, Yamcha isn't safe from "The Shaft!"
Perhaps all the flaws were caused by the film being delayed for re-shooting?
Maybe.
I think the fans had a much larger impact on this movie than they thought (no, I'm not referring to the people claiming to boycott this movie). Delaying the film from August 2008 until Spring 2009 is because Fox was trying to retool this film based on how people reacted to the tidbits of info that have been released to the public. Proof of this is the fact that they wasted no time in changing the Oozaru (Great Ape to us FUNi dub watchers). It's design suddenly went from resembling a vampire fishman, to a more accurate-looking ape monster. Proof that the original Oozaru image was real lies in the fact that the DBE action figures each contain collect-and-construct parts for a blue, semi-transparent Oozaru figure, which bears the original vampire fishman design (also, it seems to wear Saiyan battle armor… HUH???).
Pics of the fully-constructed Oozaru toy can be found here.
I'm actually not angry about this movie turning out the way it did, I'm more disappointed than anything. Even though I was ripping on this movie with my friends since it was first announced, I had a tiny spark of hope for it! Mainly, because Dragon Ball is a story I've always dreamed about seeing in live-action, because there is so much potential for awesomeness, but said awesomeness was regrettably squandered! DBE could have been EONS better than Speed Racer, but it's not even worthy of being compared to that movie! However, this movie didn't 'rape my childhood,' nor did it 'ruin the original story.' If I want the original DB, I'll read the manga or watch the anime. NOTHING will ever replace those, not even a lame, loosely-adapted movie, which is all DBE is and nothing more.
For the record, I think Speed Racer kicked ass!
Oh, well… Perhaps one day, in a few more years, somebody will give this idea another shot. Then again, considering how long it takes for movie studios to do franchise retcons and/or reboots, we've got a long way to go before we see others attempt to make a new live-action DB and succeed.
In a very shallow defense of DBE, I did say that the move had it's moments, and I wasn't joking. Be it a small reference to the original story or just something funny or cool (i.e. Goku vs. the bullies), I managed to squeeze a few drops of entertainment out of this movie. Speaking of entertainment, Emmy Rossum and Jamie Chung are coming to my house tonight... In my mind, that is.
Despite it's many flaws, this movie was still better than Street Fighter: The Epic Failure of Chun Li (For REALZ)!
Yeah, that's my take on it.
Epic disappointment in a movie that had so much underutilized potential (yet it still managed not to suck as bad as another movie out there).
Greg, I read your review and while I respect your opinion, I'll stay open-minded, regardless of what negative things are said about it.
When I watched the preview clips yesterday, I'm not ashamed to say that they made me feel good inside. Mainly, because the film is looking WAY better than I thought it would. Yes, the acting is cheesy, but it's not unbearable. Things could have been far, far worse. For one thing, I'm relieved that they even bothered to keep in as many nods to the original story as they did.
Speaking of said clips, I'd like to go on record by saying that not one of them made me wince as if I had been physically harmed, which actually happened when I watched the preview clips for the cinematic abomination that is Suck Fighter: The Epic Fail of Kristin Kreuk (It makes the original Van Damme Street Fighter movie look like The Dark Knight). After watching the whole movie online (it didn't make the prescreening cut at my local cinema), I couldn't believe Capcom put their seal of approval on that turd! Yeah, yeah, I know they approved the Van Damme SF flick back in the day, but you THINK they would have learned from that!
In short, I'm expecting to get SOME entertainment out of DB Evolution, but I won't know how much, until I see it for myself.
i have seen the clips….trust me i know it could be alot worst.
COUGHLEGENDOFCHUNLICOUGH
Obviously, I'm in the minority here, but I actually wasn't let down by either of those clips. The Goku vs. Roshi one humored me, because I now know that Chow Yun Fat's Roshi is gonna be funny (well… for me, anyway) and not some no-nonsense old guy (not until the Piccolo thing starts). I'm gonna wait until I see the whole movie before I make a final decision, but so far, I doubt this movie will be worse than Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li!
Seriously, why did Capcom allow such an abomination to be unleashed upon this world?!
Haha, the funny thing is that one of the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes mentioned that a YouTube montage of Chris Klein (Charlie) would surface soon, and it looks like they were right.
As for the movie itself, it's not airing at my local cinema, because it didn't make the cut when it was prescreened. Because of this, I had to watch the movie online. Once it was over, it actually made me appreciate the original Van Damme Street Fighter AND it increased my hopes for Dragonball Evolution!
I saw the Transformers spot and I am SO there!
WTF, first Terrence Howard gets replaced by Don Cheadle, and now THIS??
Finally got Third Voyage yesterday and enjoyed it immensely! However, I must now order Fourth Voyage from this Rightstuf place. I'm sick of others getting their stuff over a week in advance while I have to watch uploaded clips to tide myself over!
Dammit, I wanna get stuff early, too!
Seriously, though… FUNimation continues to impress me with the OP dub! Oh, and the English version of RUN! RUN! RUN! does get better with repeated listenings!
Are we still arguing about "Alabasta vs Arabasta" or has that died down?
EDIT Can't wait for my Third Voyage to arrive.
@dirt:
The thing is, Arlong is savage.
I'm a tinsie bit miffed by Rager though because sometimes it's hard to understand something he's saying for some reason.
I know, but you gotta admit that his Japanese voice was very proud and boastful. Yet, you're right, he did get vicious when the situation called for it, especially when Usopp attacked him and he flew into a rage.
EDIT
@LongFist:
My only concerns come form Hatchi's voice. In the japanese didn't he sound a little more dopy? He sounds too much like just anybody to me.
Yeah, ironically that's ONE character voice that 4Kids nailed.
sigh Couldn't resist, so I watched the uploaded clips. Justl like in Unlimited Adventure, Arlong sounds just as beastly as I thought he would. Too bad he doesn't have his signature laugh.
Chris Rager does an awesome job, but honestly, I'd prefer a prideful Arlong to a savage Arlong. It is because of that very reason, I always wanted Dameon Clarke to voice him (I know he's no longer with FUNimation, but I'm just saying…). Hell, Arlong's Japanese voice always reminded me of Dameon's Perfect Cell voice, which was overflowing with "Haha, I'm better than you!" doucheyness.
Question…
Where did you order your DVD set from to get it so early, Rin?
For filler, this seems quite interesting. And NO, I'm not referring to the Nami bewbage (though it IS a nice touch). So far, I only watched the RAW, but I'll check out the sub later.
Next episode is gonna have some bitchin' animation… and more Nami bewbs!
EDIT Oh, and YES, I saved both of those GIFs. Thanks, Buuhan1!
Nami, curse your rockin' tits!

EDIT Didn't know this was an old thread.
tsktsktsk So much bickering over this movie, despite the fact that most of the haters are gonna see it, regardless.
That "one-handed Kamehameha" is the result of whoever put the trailer together and the fact that they began re-cutting random footage near the end.
<–Check this out, at 1:11, Goku performs a two-handed, open-palmed blast, while Chi-Chi watches. I'm guessing that the one-handed blast was probably not a Kamehameha (Goku's mouth is closed when the "HAAA!!!" is being yelled), but why they didn't just show it is mind-boggling.I'm not sure what will result from Sanji's situation, but I still think that all the running is damn good training for his legs.
Where's part three? It's not on YouTube!
EDIT Whatever, I'll just download the full ep.
EDIT No.2 D'oh! I didn't notice the "To Be Continued" screen at the end of part two. Never mind my earlier absentmindedness! XP
If he didn't reprise his role as Helmeppo in the uncut FUNi dub, then I highly doubt that he'll be returning as Wapol.
I was away from home to celebrate Thanksgiving at a friend's house and I haven't been to the forums in a few days. So OP is still selling well, huh? That's good to hear!
Also, RomanGod got banned? When did this happen?!
[peterparker]My Spider-Sense tells me this thread has been hijacked![/peterparker]
What's all this about the DVDs not selling well?!
Close…oversized utensils. WTH would giant metal spoon/baskets do? Bonk him on the head? Maybe they'd like to go and catch butterflies. There was also the edit with Bellamy originally stabbing Roshio's hand into the table rather than just grabbing his arm. Or of course, Chef Zeff actually breaking his own leg and implying that he ate it. And most recently...the Sanji/Absalom knife edit. Yeah, Toei does that kinda stuff.:getlost:
My bet is Gum Gum Octopus, then Gum Gum Octo-Fireworks. I can't wait.
You forgot about how Toei completely removed Bellamy shattering a bottle of booze over Roshio's head and Sarquiss throwing a lit match at the poor guy.
Great chapter!
It's obvious to everyone by now, but for the sake of restating the obvious, it looks like each of the Straw Hats are going to receive a power-up of some sort… and BOY, do they need it if they're gonna tackle the New World.
If I recall correctly, Zoro did seem to have an "offscreen" exchange of dialog with Kuma before he got poofed. Perhaps he suggested places that would improve their individual skills? Well, he may have pulled some jackassery regarding Sanji. LOL
EDIT I GOT IT!!!
If somebody figured this out already, it's cool. However, it just occurred to me that the constant running from those trannies will DRASTICALLY increase Sanji's leg strength! Hell, he has Diable Jambe and a vast number of techniques he learned from Zeff, but until he can damage somethimg as tough as Kuma, he'll eventually be left in the dust.
To think, that ten chapters ago, people were talking about how the series was over, once the crew got poofed away by Kuma. I'm not sure what that was all about, but I know for sure that the series is still running strong and getting ever stronger!
Oh, and Jinbei was REALLY pissed about something if he turned on his superiors and got locked up for it. At least we finally got a faint glimpse of what he looks like (seems like he has the same body type as Yama).
Oldboy???
WHY TRY TO FIX SOMETHING THAT ISN'T BROKEN?!!
…Oh, and that transformed (transforming?) Goku looks like a vampire, or some shit.
